Dean: Nixon Could've Survived if He Had Fox News

For all that he's never stopped reliving the Watergate years, [John] Dean seems surprised at how relevant what he went through 45 years ago remains. Not that everything is the same -- for one, he thinks that in today's media and political environment, [President] Nixon might have finished his term. "There's social media, there's the internet, the news cycles are faster. I think Watergate would have occurred at a much more accelerated speed than the 928 days it took to go from the arrest at the Watergate to the conviction of Haldeman and Ehrlichman and Mitchell, et al.," Dean said. "There's more likelihood he might have survived if there'd been a Fox News."

John Dean is a wise observer and speaks from long unhappy experience. We all know he is correct.

I doubt if even FOX could have saved Nixon from those tapes.

Today it's emails and telephone surveillance. There's not much difference.

Nixon's troubles were put in the spotlight when members of his political party placed country above party in conducting their congressional investigations. His downfall was sealed when members of his political party recognized the damage done and acted in the best interest of the country. We're a long, long way from those days. In the coming months we will determine whether the GOP will hijack its own investigations, continue denigrating the most admired law enforcement organ in the country, and do what's RIGHT FOR THE COUNTRY. or now, it's looking a bit too partisan...

Russiagate was a total joke, with it's best evidence being a commissioned dossier filled with fabrications. The only hope was always obstruction, because Trump is an imbecile who can't keep his mouth shut.

Agreed, and that is where I think Mueller has been focusing his investigation on Trump himself. Trying to intervene to prevent the Money Laundering and Lying to Federal Agents charges will be the back story to the obstruction claim, if there is one, it just depends on how strong the evidence is against the Donald.

As for the thread topic, I don't think Fox could have saved Nixon, I just think the investigation would have moved quicker on Haldeman et. al.

Conservative inability to recognize even the most obvious patterns is evidence that humans have stopped darwinism in our species.

If your house is full of rat ----, but you don't see the rat; the idea of a having a rat problem must be a total joke, right?

You've been one of the clowns shouting "overwhelming evidence" for a year. You've still got nothing substantive, and your best hope is Trump committing seppuku by obstruction.

You think you smell a room full of rat ----, unfortunately, it's just your upper lip.

"You've still got nothing substantive"

Are you Helen Keller as a toddler or have you just not been paying attention for the last 18 months?

Meh. This is all the same crap that occurred during the email situation with Hillary. Lots and lots and lots of procedural rhetoric...no evidence or charges. Get over it (as Democrats would love to say before but I doubt they will now since hypocrisy is their MO).

"no evidence or charges"

Clue phone is ringing off the hook:

Mueller on line one;
Flynn on line two;
Manfort on line three.
