Iranians Shatter a New York Times Myth

So much for the New York Times theory that, thanks to Trumpian and Saudi bellicosity, the Iranian people have closed ranks behind their rulers. In November, the paper's Tehran bureau chief, Thomas Erdbrink, devoted an extended feature to making this case, and it proved wildly popular with the pro-nuclear deal crowd in Washington. "After years of cynicism, sneering or simply tuning out all things political," wrote Erdbrink, "Iran's urban middle classes have been swept up in a wave of nationalist fervor." He went on: "Mr. Trump and the Saudis have helped the government achieve what years of repression could never accomplish: widespread public support for the hard-line view that the United States and Riyadh cannot be trusted."

Obama and NYT have been manufacturing and promoting propaganda against Trump, this is just another example of the implosion of that, and Obama's weak&meek foreign policy, and his lack of understanding about the ME and the world at large.

Dopey thinking on your part -- smacks of lame cable-news-like analysis from the talking heads on Fox News.

Here's a real expert, Andrew Bacevich, talking about the problems we face in the ME ...

I don't expect you to watch this hour long video, and if you do watch it, I still don't expect you to understand it and change your mind about what the problems are and what Obama tried to do -- but, by all means, feel free to surprise me.

The FACT is that Obama successfully got a nuclear deal done with Iran and conservatives just can't stand it because they couldn't do it. Trump won't completely blow it up because if he did we would end up with a nuclear armed Iran. The protests in Iran are mostly over economic problems which the elimination of sanctions would help but also over the power of their religious right, we should take a lesson. Never let the religious right get too much power as they do with Donald Trump as President. He's not actually religious himself but he needs their votes so he caters to that evil population. They want to create a theocracy in a nation that has freedom of religion as one of our basic rights. And then they want to pretend they believe in the constitution. They are the worst kind of liars.

You're absolutely wrong Danni. They don't want a nuclear deal with Iran they want a war against Iran. It's the only time they feel all macho like. Plus it helps feed the end times lust from the Religious right wing.

Heck of a deal. Here's a pallet-o-cash and I'll immediately drop the sanctions. Promise to be good in the future. I'm out of here, peace out. Did I cover everything you wanted Valerie?

Will the war with Iran be after the one against North Korea, or will Trump insist on having both together?
