Tax Bill Shows Trump is a Weak President

Matthew Glassman,Vox: Donald Trump is a weak president. He remains a weak president after the passage of tax reform, despite what some in the media are describing as a presidential "victory." ... Trump appears to have had little influence over the timing or substance of the policies the House and Senate devised; in general, he seems content to simply sign on to whatever agenda congressional Republican leaders set. Far from unifying Republicans around a Trump agenda, he appears reduced to cheerleading for a Republican one.

More

The determination that Trump is a weak president, struggling to assert power -- and indeed on the brink of a failed presidency -- ought to be cold comfort to Democrats and liberals, because weak presidents can be dangerous leaders. While more vulnerable to electoral defeat, they may also be tempted to take risks -- including foreign policy risks -- to increase their stature. And that could lead to disaster.

Comments

So Obama who did not have anything to do with the Obama care legislation except sign it should be put on Mt Rushmore because of it but Trump is a bum for doing the same thing with tax reform. Got it.

#1 - This article isn't about Obama. I guess you have no defense for the politically impotent Conman sitting in office now.

#2 | Posted by johnny_hotsauce at 2017-12-27 02:20 PM

Yeah what Fishpoo said!

Wha bow dah Obama?

He never sponsored a bill or wrote anything!

But, of course, that is because he is a Muslim from Kenya and everyone knows they can't write for beans.

Presidents don't write legislation, they either come up with the basic idea and hope they have the party support to get something written that will pass or run on something they are told will win them the election and their handlers will tell them they will write and get passed (Obamacare)

#2,#3 you have no defense of your hypocrisy so as usual just spew the usual"Trump is an idiot, and you are a racist for bringing up Obama." Well done and intelligent as usual.

#4 | Posted by fishpaw at 2017-12-27 02:41 PM

"Presidents don't write legislation"

So then why are you still talking about Obama?

Because you are obsessed with your hatred for Obama.

#5 | Posted by snoofy at 2017-12-27 02:46 PM

#5 The Dems and this writer made the rules, President who doesn't write the legislation is strong President. It is obvious that you are obsessed with your hatred for Trump other wise you would treat him like you did Obama. But you are welcome to keep trolling me and calling me a racist, it's the one thing you do well.

I thought Trump wrote the bill making it ok to say "Merry Christmas" again.

Of course this tax bill would have never passer if Hillery had been elected, but she wasn't.
Was it the Russian Uranium Deal?
Was it Wikileaks?
Was it Podesta?
Was it Comey?
Was it having a sexual predator as a husband?
Was it Huma Abedin's sexual predator husband Anthony Weiner?
Was it because the Clinton Foundation ripped off Haiti?
Was it subpoena violations?
Was it the congressional testimony lies?
Was it the corrupt Clinton Foundation?
Was it the Benghazi butchering?
Was it pay for play?
Was it being recorded laughing because she got a child rapist off when she was an attorney?
Was it the Travel Gate scandal?
Was it the Whitewater scandal?
Was it the Cattle Gate scandal?
Was it the Trooper Gate scandal?

OR....

Was it the the $15 million for Chelsea's apartment bought with foundation money?
Or her husband's interference with Loretta Lynch & the investigation?
Or having debate questions stolen & given to her?
Or her own secret server in her house?
Or deleting 30,000 emails?
Or having cell phones destroyed with hammers?
Was it the Seth Rich murder?
Was it the Vince Foster murder?
Was it the Gennifer Flowers assault & settlement?
Was it the $800,000 Paula Jones settlement?
Was it calling half the United States deplorable?
Was it the underhanded treatment of Bernie Sanders?
Was it Bill's impeachment?
Was it the lie about being under sniper fire in Bosnia?
Was it the $10 million she took for the pardon of Marc Rich?
Or the $6 BILLION she "lost" when in charge of the State Dept.?
Or because she is a hateful, lying, power hungry, overly ambitious, greedy, nasty person?

It was Comey.

#12 | Posted by REDIAL at 2017-12-28 07:42 AM

"Was it the the $15 million for Chelsea's apartment bought with foundation money?"

Was it the big lie that made you so willing to carry the water for the 1%?
You're a liar.

Telling the truth should never be considered trolling. Racist? Of course you are. Deny it all you want, it won't change anyone's minds.

#14 | Posted by danni at 2017-12-28 08:30 AM

#14 Sure, words of a mindless moron, if you disagree with me you are a racist. Come up with some new material and hopefully more intelligent than a 2 year old.

#15 | Posted by fishpaw at 2017-12-28 12:14 PM

You know, no matter how much you want something to be true, it doesn't change reality if it isn't. Trump is a ridiculous example of what we want our leader to be. He says a lot of stupid things and pisses off a lot of people. But saying he is weak when it comes to power is a very entitled way of looking at things.

#16 | Posted by humtake at 2017-12-28 12:16 PM

#16 And the funny thing is the author of this piece probably thinks he is the strong one.

You aren't smart enough to be here so I'll use small words for you.

Obama had a serious hand in a lot of legislation that came through Congress during his term.

Trump hasn't. He doesn't intervene or put forth much in the way of specifics. He simultaneously calls the same legislation good and bad.

Please stop posting.

Fishpaw, could you talk more about Obama?

Looking forward to you talking about Obama for the rest of your life.

Try naming one thing and include how much more he intervened than Trump did with tax overhaul. I'll give you 5 minutes so you can start googling.

#20 | Posted by fishpaw at 2017-12-28 03:07 PM

Ok, I gave you 45 minutes and surprise! Nothing!
