Trump to Rich Friends: 'You All Just Got a Lot Richer'

President Trump was in a celebratory mood on Friday night and told a group of his wealthy friends, "You all just got a lot richer" after he signed the tax cuts into law. Trump reportedly uttered the words to a group of friends who were having dinner nearby at Mar-a-Lago, including two friends who spoke to CBS News about the remark. Anyone spending time at what has come to be known as the "Winter White House" is not exactly suffering economically, considering the initiation fee is $200,000 and annual dues are $14,000. Trump's words to his rich pals mark a stark contrast to what he has been saying for weeks now as he has insisted that the massive tax cut would benefit the middle class above all. "The rich will not be gaining at all with this plan. We are looking for the middle class and we are looking for jobs -- jobs being the economy," Trump had said in September, for example.

In November, the president had gone as far as to say that the tax cuts would actually hurt the rich. "This is not good for me. Me, it's not so -- I have some very wealthy friends. Not so happy with me, but that's OK," Trump told a Missouri crowd.

"You know, I keep hearing Schumer: 'This is for the wealthy.' Well, if it is, my friends don't know about it."

Sen. Bernie Sanders was one of the first Democrats to respond to the report ...

In a speech to his rich friends, Obama said these down on their luck voters cling'ed to their guns and religion -- and was castigated for years mostly by these same voters.

In a speech to his rich friends, Trump openly brags about about stealing other peoples money and giving it to them -- and is cheered by his supporters.

Under America's "inverted" corporate totalitarianism, many of the basic objectives of fascism -- the defeat of unions and the working class, the degradation of democracy, the enforcement of hierarchy and savage inequality, racial subordination, the marginalization of the Left, racial divide and rule, militarization of society, and permanent arms and war economy -- are achieved without the discomfort and uncertainly imposed by barking fuhrers and marching multitudes.

People are told that going into a two-(capitalist-)party ballot box for two minutes once every two or four years is a great and glorious exercise in popular self-rule. In reality, as the leading mainstream political scientists Benjamin Page and Martin Gilens have recently shown, American "public" policy consistently reflects the wishes of those with money, not the wishes of the millions of ordinary citizens.

Donald Trump is testing the arch-authoritarian waters of this American totalitarianism. Consciously or not, he and his team are seeing how far they can exploit "corporate-managed democracy's" neoliberal evisceration of democracy and republican-constitutional checks and balances to create an autocratic gangster-capitalist kleptocracy.

Still, the myth of democracy through elections lives on, turning the citizenry into a "corporate-managed electorate." (Paul Street)

his "friends" are on the whole likely either potential co-defendants or potential witnesses

Shame on all of you for actually taking an article whose main premise is self-substantiated by the words "...Trump reportedly uttered the words...". This is where our media is today and where the blind followers are. Shame. Well, Drudge Retort reportedly eats babies and colludes with Russian prostitutes to choose which articles to post. Yep, you heard it here first. They reportedly did. It's so reportedly that you can't deny it. The media is so much closer to Trump in how they state everything that the only wonder anyone should have is why it took so long for a POTUS to come along to match the media's intellectual shortcomings.

So basically you are saying the Media is full of lies and deceptions and donald is only slightly worse?
