Amanda Lenee Jones, 30, the woman killed by Bexar County sheriff's deputies Thursday in a confrontation outside a mobile home that also killed a 6-year-old boy inside, had a lengthy criminal history dating back more than a decade in at least three counties.
fta: County authorities and family members confirmed their identities Friday. Sheriff Javier Salazar said Jones threatened to shoot officers several times during a lengthy foot chase. Deputies who opened fire believed Jones had a gun during the final confrontation, but no weapon was found on her, Salazar said.
Neighbors of the boy said several adults and kids playing outside saw Jones -- desperate, cursing and followed by numerous officers -- run through Pecan Grove, their shady mobile home park in Schertz, then watched in horror as the gunfire erupted.
A stray bullet pierced the wall of the mobile home while the boy was inside, striking Kameron in the abdomen, Salazar said. Deputies tried to keep Kameron alive before paramedics rushed him to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
