Kentucky legislator accused of sex abuse, etc., kills self

One day after holding a news conference at his church and defiantly denying accusations of sexual abuse, arson, theft snd other misdeeds uncovered by investigative journalists, a Kentucky legislator elected on a platform of racism, gun rights and Jesus shot himself to death Wednesday on a bridge not far from his home. It was a dramatic end for Danny Ray Johnson, the self-proclaimed Pope of the Heart of Fire Church southeast of Louisville.

Pretty fitting, Corky. What a strange saga. The whole story is like a bad made-for-TV movie.

Politics and religion ~ a deadly combination. No wonder they kill themselves.

So who's up next? Roy Moore?

Why do Christians like liars so much?

Oh well, looks like his gun kept us safe from him.

Don't laugh. You all know what we've learned about people who protest too much.

"And then this poor guy kills himself out of unbearable shame"

That's one theory. The better theory is that he killed himself to send a big -- to the world. This will be the same reason Donald finds a gun to eat.

We're lucky this sociopath didn't kill a few dozen church goers before he left this world.

Impeached for a consensual relationship with an adult woman.

Don't base your assumptions about left-leaning abusers on the reports about media figures. While Fox News has had its own problems with high-level sexual misconduct, media people do tend to lean liberal. They also happen to have a far higher public profile than your average businessman who might also be perv. So their cases are more likely to make it to the news. But you don't hear about what goes on inside corporate offices, manufacturing plants, print shops, auto repair shops, retail stores, restaurants and other out-of-the-limelight places where your vaunted conservatives are likely to be employed. Trust me, though, harassment is going on there too.

And I'm sure you'll recall the wave of pedophilia infesting the Catholic Church for many years -- covered up and enabled by Church authorities. Not a lot of those involved are what I would call liberal.

The bottom line is, sexual abuse and harassment cut across all political and socioeconomic strata. You talk about irony, but with your comments you clearly mounted your own high horse.

I will also note that Rep. Johnson had far more baggage than simply the sexual-abuse allegation hanging over him. His background also includes arson, selling alcohol at his church, misappropriation of insurance proceeds, drawing disability on a fake claim after 9/11, and lying about having been an ambassador under multiple presidents. Read it all here: longcon.kycir.org.

"Impeached for lying under oath." - #18 | Posted by BillJohnson at 2017-12-14 11:12 AM

"Our impeachment of President Clinton was another example of placing the wrong political emphasis on personal matters. We impeached Clinton for lying to the government. To our surprise the electorate gave us cold comfort. Lying to the government: It's called April 15th. And we accused Clinton of lying about sex, which all men spend their lives doing, starting at 15 bragging about things we haven't done yet, then on to fibbing about things we are doing, and winding up with prevarications about things we no longer can do." - P.J. O'Rourke

"Impeached for lying under oath."

Lying in answer to a question that really never should have been asked. Should Mueller question Donald Trump about his behavior at the Miss Universe contest in Moscow?
That is as relevant to the investigation as Monica Lewinski was to Whitewater.

"Frankly I think all this access to information that is none of our business is destroying the human race."

You might want to review the part where the guy who killed himself dedicated his life and political career to destroying the lives of others.

Danni: "Lying in answer to a question that really never should have been asked. Should Mueller question Donald Trump about his behavior at the Miss Universe contest in Moscow?"

So you're firmly against Trump being investigated for allegations of sexual harassment or sexual assault, if he is then you're okay with him lying under oath about it?

#32 | Posted by sentinel at 2017-12-14 01:15 PM

"if he is then you're okay with him lying under oath about it?"

Clinton didn't lie about sexual harassment or sexual assault. Just sex.

I think I found my answer to my question, why do Christians like liars so much. They worship big lies and need liars to feed their self deceit.

#9 Bored,
Most of the worst offenders are turning out to be liberals.
(Obvious lie, serious offences by prominent people that result in criminal charges are more likely repubs.)
And then this poor guy kills himself out of unbearable shame and liberals make jokes.
(This guy was a scumbag and the world is a better place without him.)
Why are things that occurred between people being paraded all around by people who aren't even involved?

Ky. Rep. Dan Johnson's widow running to replace him after suicide

"Dan is gone but the story of his life is far from over," Rebecca Johnson said Thursday in a statement issued through a family friend.

"These high-tech lynchings and half truths can't be allowed to win the day," Johnson's wife of 30 years continued. "I've been fighting behind my husband for thirty years and his fight will go on."

Gag. Only in the current Republican Party can a duplicitous creep like Johnson be portrayed as a victim. Just because he killed himself doesn't mean he is absolved of the very credible allegations against him. Fittingly, the former Kentucky Speaker of the House, Jeff Hoover, expressed sentiments similar to Johnson's wife, complaining about "personal attacks" against politicians. But then, Hoover was forced to resign as speaker a few weeks ago after it came to light that he had made secret payments to a woman to settle sexual-harassment allegations.

There is a big difference between having a relationship with a 14 year old girl and a 24 year old woman. Anyone who pretends otherwise is lying to you.

First Woman Harasser Drops Out of Politics? Female Dem Candidate For Congress Gone!

Andrea Ramsey, a Democratic candidate for Congress, will drop out of the race after the Kansas City Star asked her about accusations in a 2005 lawsuit that she sexually harassed and retaliated against a male subordinate who said he had rejected her advances.

Multiple sources with knowledge of the case told The Star that the man reached a settlement with LabOne, the company where Ramsey was executive vice president of human resources. Court documents show that the man, Gary Funkhouser, and LabOne agreed to dismiss the case permanently after mediation in 2006.

I don't think anyone said it wasn't. But for some people, they both fall below the threshold of acceptable behavior of public officials. And for others, who might have been able to tolerate the former, commiting a crime and abusing your office to try to cover it up is unacceptable, although the Clinton enablers here are just as okay with that as the Trump enablers are with his behavior.
