The shortlist of candidates for TIME's 2017 Person of the Year was unveiled Monday morning on NBC's Today. Since 1927, TIME has identified the Person of the Year, recognizing the person or group of people who most influenced the news during the past year, for better or for worse. Along with the leader of North Korea, Donald Trump is against the following other nominees: President Xi Jinping of China, Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos, NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia, Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins, DACA Dreamers, the #MeToo movement and special prosecutor Robert Mueller.
Tough crowd. So far Robert Mueller seems to have tipped Atlas on his axis. Trump, on the other hand, has tipped it upside down.
Hitler was Time's "person of the year" once. Trump has done far more damage to our nation's credibility, and economy than any benefit's from Mueller's investigation, at least so far.
Worse than when Angela Merkel beat him out in 2015????
Trump's still getting even with her for that.
The President of the United States is a big cry baby.
Person of the Year doesn't mean a good person or a positive effect... So why not Donald? It would doubtless be less than flattering. Then he could go nuts about actually being Person of the Year and denying it.

Hitler was Person of the Year, and Hitler may well be again.
The question is, does the editorial board want to keep their jobs and work for the Kochs or do they want to go out in a blaze of glory?
Naming either Mueller or Kaepernick would, delightfully, cause fascist heads to explode.
"Maybe they can give it to Hitler again."
Relax. The Koch Brothers just bought Time. Wait a few issues.
