Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

The polling firm Rasmussen Reports has announced that it's ending daily tracking of the Democratic race and will focus exclusively on the general election competition between Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama. "While Senator Clinton has remained close and competitive in every meaningful measure, she is a close second and the race is over," the firm states. "It has become clear that Barack Obama will be the Democratic nominee."

At the moment, Senator Clinton’s team is busily trying to convince Superdelegates and pundits that she is more electable than Barack Obama. For reasons discussed in a separate article, it doesn’t matter. Even if every single Superdelegate was convinced that the former First Lady is somewhat more electable than Obama, that is not enough of a reason to deny him the nomination.

". . .while Senator Clinton has remained close and competitive in every meaningful measure, she is a close second and the race is over."

'Nuff said.

In the spirit of our next president's campaign theme, I am offering a new term into the lexicon. It will be used as a measurement of things requiring or indeed effecting life-altering change.

The Obamalot.

As in "Dude, I smoked an Obamalot of weed last night"

Or, "Hillary needs an Obamalot of votes if she wants to stay in this race"

Or, "It takes a nation of Obamalot of white folks to hold us back."

Discuss.

"Dude, I smoked an Obamalot of weed last night"

sounds about right

An Obamalot of black votes seem to vote for a candidate on race alone...

You know what would be hilarious--if Hillary dropped out now and the primary of WV and KY went to Clinton--do you realize how bad that would look for Obama?

That would be Obamalarious!

So you say. I live in Nebraska, where whites vastly outnumber blacks, and Obama won here. What about Iowa? He's also polling ahead in Oregon. What about there?

Yes, blacks seem to be voting disproportionately for him, but maybe it's because the Clintons screwed up royally with MLK, and they seem to care more about courting whites than blacks. If I were black, and heard someone say that the white vote it what's needed to win the nom, I'd sure as hell vote for the black candidate if he held most of the same views on policy issues.

Do you realize you're speaking in hypotheticals? Hypotheticals that don't matter since Clinton can't win the primary anyway?

Now that's Obamalarious...

Except for a few DR posters in sheets - you know, the Klan types for whom the word Re-tard was coined - Obama is not about race. He is about the dawn of a new day. herm

Herm--LOL

And I am voting for McCain--can't stand HRC for anything and Obama is worse.

In fact the map right now shows she polls better in the Electoral against McCain than Obama does.

And Denton--you admit then that it would be Obamalarious if HRC dropped out right now and she carried both states --that Obama would look like an idiot? Right?

If so--then you would want her to stay in the race until the end-=-to save face for Obama--right?

Murphy

If only we had a real republican to run against Obama. A real conservative would be nice. I like McCain but he is just to in between.

Ya I didn't say white people don't like the guy. It is curious that when blacks vote 90+% for a black candidate, it doesn't mean anything. When 60% of whites vote for a white candidate over a black candidate, the headline reads that whites are racist.

Yeah we need those REAL conservatives like the ones running the country into the shit house for the past 8 years.

A "real Republican" would be another Bush clone, like John McBush. In the best of worlds, which Repubs fight tooth and nail to prevent, Hillary would leap over the net right now, congratulate the winner and accept the No. 2 spot. Those two might not fix the Bushian, Cheneyesque felonies in eight years, because B&C have drained America DRY, but they'd make a start, dammit. herm

If HRC gets votes after she drops out it doesn't mean squat in the long run. It might not look "good" for Obama if that were to happen, but it wouldn't matter.

It would look Obamalarious if pigs flew out of my ass, but it's not going to happen, so why waste time on the subject.

Like I said, it's a hypothetical.

wait, wait, you forgot to carry the one....see, it adds up correctly now

It's convenient to jump on the racism band-wagon, but there's other possible explanations.

Bill and Hillary dropped the ball on MLK, which almost definitely lost them credit with the black community.

The perception that Rev. Wright's comments were used over and over again by HRC to pander to white voters would have alienated black voters.

Bill Clinton equating Obama's SC victory to Jesse Jackson's campaign in an effort to marginalize his victory and those who voted for him in SC.

I'm sure there's more, but I'm not black, so I don't know every thing that HRC has done that might offend a black person. After so many years of overt racism the perceptions of a black americans versus a white americans are much more finely honed, and they pick up on even subtle racism more quickly.

"If only we had a real republican to run against Obama."

A real REpublican would have long since left your party. REad a little of Eisenhower's and Goldwater's speeches, etc. and you'll see that the Republican party left real REpublicans and real Americans a long time ago.

"If only we had a real republican to run against Obama."

you had ron paul

too bad you called him a crack
so much for "real" republicans

The republicans you have are real republicans. This is the party you created by voting for them time and time again. Goldwater? That was 40 friggin' years ago. You abstain from voting since them?
The "real conservatives" are simply trying to distance themselves from the Bushies and GOPpers due to the fact that they are fuckups so obvious that you can't even pretend they aren't.

It's like Nixon after he resigned-nobody admitted voting for him.

Obama, Loompa, doom-pa-dee-da
If you're not greedy, you will go far
You will live in happiness too
Like the Obama Loompa doom-pa-dee-do

""If only we had a real republican to run against Obama."

The nominee of the Republican party is a "real Republican" by definition. He wins the nomination with the votes of real Republican voters.

Some Republicans are crybabies and claim only their primary candidate is a "real Republican." Others try to distance Republicans from the fuckups created by real Republicans like George Bush.

Obama, Loompa, doom-pa-dee-da

What do you get with a communist prez?
Higher taxes and a paycheck that's less
Pay for the health of others that are fat?
Why the fuck should I have to do that?

Yeah, I remember when blacks voted 90+ % for Jesse Jackson's rainbow coalition....Oh, yeah, that's right...it didn't happen...moron

I just Obamad my head on a couple margaritas.

lol

Hillary is still seated at the bar at 3AM in the morning while everyone has left and still offering to buy one more round!

NorthGuy,
You are incorrect. I have always admitted that I voted for Nixon. Never denied it once. Also admitted to voting for Reagan, which I have always regretted but that doesn't change the fact that I did vote for him.

As to all the Obama Worshippers who are celebrating, enjoy it while you can because I don't care if he won all 4,000 plus delegates since it means nothing. The ONLY numbers that mean anything are Electoral College votes and right now it looks like McCain has 242 of those locked up tight. Funny that many of those EC votes are from states that OBama trumpets that he won so easily like Idaho, Wyoming, Utah and Nebraska. Even his first win, Iowa, is shaky at best as far as voting for him in the GE. Thus McCain needs only 29 more EC votes to become President and for Obama to become another asterisk in history books like George McGovern.

There are at least 80-100 EC votes that can go either way and a lot of those are in states that historically end up in the Republican column on election day like Penn, Wisc, Mich and VA.
Penn is worth 21 EC votes, Wisc 10, VA 13 and Mich 17.

So all McCain needs to do is hold onto those states he is solidly winning right now and get either Penn+any one of the other 3, VA+Mich or thre of the smaller ones together and he wins.

There are some smaller states that are also borderline so winning one or two of them will ease what particular ones of these four he would need.

The bottom line is that it doesn't look like he has much chance of winning in Nov and McBush will be the next President of our nation since these numbers will only get worse when the Republican destruction machine shines its lights on Obama, his friends and associates.

THESHYGUY
All people have to ask themselves between Barack and McBush is do you really want to have Bush do a third term. Considering Bush is THE most unpopular president in history just months before the election what do you really think the chances of McBush winning? McBush has a lot of baggage not the least being his ties to the Keating 5. Lets not forget his legendary temper. Do you really want this guy with his finger on the trigger? His age is going to be a factor as well. He continually misspeaks and yesterday started talking into a hand held mic that was upside down. That is truly following in the tradition of GW.LOL! McBush also publicly stated he knows little about the economy. Big plus here don't you think? When asked if condoms protected against HIV he answered he didn't know. Lasty when they start bragging about how much experience McBush has all anyone has to do is look around them and see what experience has gotten us.

right now it looks like McCain has 242 of those locked up tight.

A little premature isn't it? The shit doesn't start hitting the fan for McBush until the real race starts in mid-June. We'll see where we are at the end of September when voters have a chance to hear how many times the "straight talk" express has gone crooked and what a political whore McCain is. He's compromised his principles so many times that he doesn't have any left. The guy who hugged Bush, whose political machine in 1999 started the rumor that he had fathered a black baby, cannot get my vote and he shouldn't be able to get anybody else's vote.

Shy

Remember back in March? McCain's campaign was running on fumes, he literally could not buy fuel for his bus. There was no way he was gonna be the nominee. That was two months ago.

Now you're stuck with him and the general is 5 months away. Just imagine all the focus that's gonna be on him once the media is done beating the Dem primaries to death.

Good thing you've got Lieberman to straighten his bearings for him.

While smarter dems aren't particularly impressed with what their party has done as of late, there is no fucking way McCain can win the presidency! Not a fucking chance in hell.. The dems can't lose unless Hillary is chosen. Either way, we all will lose..

Re: Obamalot

Jomama, I'm afraid I've beaten you to the punch.
By two and a half months...
