Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

WASHINGTON -- Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) today called on Hillary Rodham Clinton to drop out of the presidential race, saying there is no way the New York senator can wrest the nomination from her rival Barack Obama.

"There is no way that Sen. Clinton is going to win enough delegates to get the nomination," Leahy, an Obama supporter, said in an interview with Vermont Public Radio this morning. "She ought to withdraw, and she ought to be backing Sen. Obama."

Perhaps Senator Leahy ought to read his DNC nominating rules. Without the proper number of delegates, 2024 as of now, neither candidate wins on delegate count.

Whether Senator Obama has a 2 delegate lead or a 200 delegate lead will matter in the final analysis of the super delegate's decision, but so will the popular vote where Senator Clinton may well be ahead in June.

As will the the question of who won the big battleground states that are needed in the general election, and we already know who that is.

It may be, in their opinion, a crying shame that Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Tom Daschle, Gary Hart, Howard Dean, and now Patrick Leahy, will never be President, but their attempts at living out their failed dreams in an inexperienced young candidate should stop somewhat short of premature ejaculation of the other candidate.

Besides, there is a good argument that the longer this process goes on, more and better ground campaign organizations are built in more states and more Democrats, and others, are registered and will vote in the fall.

Truer words were never spoken. They hate the thought of a woman doing what they failed to do.

Is Senator Leahy auditioning for a job at MSNBC, just asking......

Hillary would verify that she is nutz if she gives up before the Convention.

She's spent tens of millions of contributed funds and at the least owes those contributors a run to the finish.

Planes, trains, buses and cars have been known to accientally crash, so why should any candidate give up before the convention? Mitt Romney and John Edwards were jerks to pull out and give up the stage.

Anything can happen.

Once again Leahy provides indisputable evidence that he is truly a slime ball and a jerk.

Obama can't win this thing outright so Hillary would be crazy to quit. She may not get the nomination but she certainly has a reasonable shot seeing as this thing will have to be brokered.

They hate the thought of a woman doing what they failed to do. -Cintonisking on Leahy, Kennedy et al:

THAT is so sexist. Their views on Hillary have nothing to do with her being a woman. Nothing.

Except, of course, that she would never have got this far were she not a woman. And to be a wife of a President, so far, being a woman is a pre-requisite, and that is the only reason she is able to run.

So shut up about this being anti-woman or sexist. It's the opposite.

right...like I would believe you...

I'm not a Hillary fan, but she is confounding them with her grit. She may be unpalatable, but she's a tough old bird.

I think that Obama is toast as a national candidate. As some astute poster noted, Obama's finding Rev. Wright objectionable is a new-found stance that is probably atrributable to his internal polling that indicates that his racist connections are an anchor around his neck.

Obama seems to have had a deathbed conversion, the anticipated death of his presidential aspirations, killed by exposure of some of his beliefs.

Even Rev. Wright acknowledged that Obama might need to deny him. I imagine that Rev. Wright is sort of paranoic, and so compares Obama to Judas and himself to Christ, and as some scholars now claim, Jesus instructed Judas to deny Him.

But Rev. Wright is not going to Golgotha. Instead, his "intensity" and his "passion" have earned him a home on the hill, a multi-million dollar mansion earned by preaching hate, hate for America, hate for whites, and hate for Jews. The "wages of sin" are not necessarily death, but instead riches in this vale of tears.

Old Rev. Wright won't get much of a promotion when he enters the Kingdom of Heaven for his good work in spreading his inversion of the message of peace, since he's living mighty high on the hog, and mighty high on the hill right now. Say Hallelujah. Say Hosanna. Say Amen.

Hate preachers go to Heaven in a limousine. Obama'll be thumbing a ride with Rev. Wright. And if Rev. Wright won't give him a lift, he can go across the street and try to get Louis Farrakhan to chauffeur him around. They're one big congenial group of haters, and an ecumenical hate group too.

Yessirree, Obama's weathering the Wright storm. He's had an epiphany that has caused him to recognize just how "different" he was and has been from the good reverend for all these years. The message Rev. Wright was attempting to convey has just sunk in and it's unacceptable to Obama. Why? Oh, because it seems that it'll compromise his ambitions.

Hillary lied about snipers.
Bill lied about Monica.
Bamer lied about being a racist.
Bamer's wife has not proud of the US for some time.
Paris says she is a role model.
Rosie says fire can't melt metal.

At least Mr Wright did not lie.

That's the really sad part.

Let the battle continue.
Hillary doesn't need to throw in the towel now. At least see what happens in Pennsylvania's primary. I think all the candidates should be vetted as much as possible before we vote. I just wish there were people running againt McCain who so far seems to be just getting a free ride in the media with no questions asked.

This guy runs circles around them all. Obama would be reduced to a babbling puppy were he to actually engage him in dialoque.

Johnson you forgot to remind us that Obama is sewer slime.

Obama will be the next President of the U.S. of A. And a far sight better than the monkey we have now.

Kris P is he too smart to run?

Maybe 2012?

In the words of your friend VP Cheney "GO FUCK YOURSELF". One would give a fuck what Sen. Leahy has to say if he would spend his time HOLDING HEARINGS FOR IMPEACHMENT, not worring what Sen. Clinton is doing. Especially since he is supporting Sen. Obama. Get to work an hold this Adsministration responsible for there attack on our Constitution, not petty Politics....

Hilary has made this a personal thing "to become President" when all it is, is a contest like a game. She has shown us she does not play fair and will go to any length to get the nomination, even burn the village. She might also take it to the supreme court have you thought off that????

OBAMA`S SUPPORTERS WANT HILLARY TO WITHDRAW. IT`S NATURAL....

Serious question: Why should she resign? Neither Clinton nor Obama will have sufficient committed delegates prior to the national convention. Sure, her backing down would pave the way for Obama... but why is that the way things ought to be? Look at how many votes and delegates she has.

The Dems put this 'superdelegates' into place to act above the fray and to vote for the person best suited for the general election. Neither candidate has shown a decided edge over the other. So other than subjucating oneself to the "party" what other reason should dictate one person step aside? Why not have Obama step aside?

As a Rep I like seeing the other side in disarray. For Dems reading this, what justification can you offer for Hillary stepping aside - beside "feelings" about how Obama will enable "change."

Oohrah. Hillary staying in the race, especially in the manner in witch she has to stay in the race will cause divisions in the party. She needs to make Obama look unelectable, that's the only way she can win, and is one reason for her to gracefully bow out. Same could be said if she had more delegates and popular vote, but she doesn't. We've seen it with her saying McCain and she have 'experience' but Barrack doesn't.

The longer she stays in the more money has to be spent in the infighting, instead of spending that money against McCain.

Those are two good reasons to bow out, but she has every right to stay in and fight it out till she 'really' looses, witch is a mathematical probability.

BIG-
Couldn't the same argument be put forth for having Obama step aside (for the good of the party & to hopefully mend hurt feelings)?

Now I do think Hillary can strike a deal with Obama whereby she's on the short list for a SCOTUS post or other plum assignment. But she's an Alpha-dog and can smell the White House... I don't see her backing down.

To the contrary, I think the Clintons would tear up the Dem party to regain their "rightful" spot. All that said, still - what criteria should dictate she should drop out when NEITHER candidate will possess sufficienty committed delegates heading into the convention? Why should she step down... and why now? Why not have Obama step aside?

Huckabee finally bowed out when it was mathematically impossible for him to beat McCain on delegates. Of course the difference was that McCain reached the required count to win the nomination.

Neither Clinton nor Obama have this luxury. Thus the delegate count is pretty arbitrary to me. Rightfully in my view, many are placing the weight on the popular vote because the delegate situation is messy.

I am not saying my approach is the right one, but here is my plan on this whole mess:
(1) If Obama wins the popular vote (we know he will get the delegate edge already) and gets the nomination, he gets my vote in November.
(2) If Hillary can pull off the popular vote, despite lagging in delegates, I will accept it if she gets the nomination and vote for her.
(3) If the delegates nominate Hillary, despite Obama getting the popular and delegate advantage, I will be gladly voting for John McCain. In fact, I would vote to give Bush a 3rd term, out of complete and total disgust for the Democratic Party.

The Dems are really scaring me. I will probably be forced to vote for Grandpa McCoy - er - McCain.

Not in this instance, since Obama has more popular vote and delegates. The leader shouldn't step aside, but the person in second who has no real chance of winning should.

There is this too:

Gallup Daily: Obama Back Into Lead in Democratic Race

Today's Gallup Poll Daily tracking update finds Barack Obama with an eight percentage point advantage over Hillary Clinton (50% to 42%)

~Mr Whaaa?

C'mon Mr Fair be fair!

You would vote GOPher even if they nominated Hitlers clone and he was running against Jesus Returned to Earth cos that's wot good li'l GOPhers do. March in lockstep (practically goosestep) towards wotever nearest cliff the Party tell ya to.

Leahy is correct here to call fer Clinton to step down but she is too personally consumed with her mad quest fer the office of President to listen to anyone but her coterie of sycophants telling her go on.

McLame is easily the most pathetic candidate the GOPhers have fielded in a while and both Obama and Hillary should be able to take him handily in November.

Obama will have an easier time of it, of course.

Obama '08.

Be Well.

I don't know spud, I kinda like McCain.
