What does it say of someones sense of self worth when they decide at the young age of 18 that their own body can only be worthwhile after cosmetic surgery?

What were the congenital defects?

one of our guests this past week said that his wife was going for breast implants - i was absolutely shocked - his wife is a hotty with small breasts - she's a tiny gal anyway. when i asked him why, he said, "well she did breast feed our daughter (15 years ago) and they're just soft and stretched out!" b.s. i said - i've seen her in a bikini! i have to wonder how much of this type of surgery is peer driven or spouse driven? when i told my husband, he said, "ah-oh - she's probably going to get a boyfriend now that he's told her her boobs are soft and mushy!"
there is a danger with most surgeries that involve general anethesia - when i've had surgery, my bp drops to 70/40 area and i've awakened to people standing over me with a defib.

Mmmmm Boobies!! Yum, just Yum! Sorry, wot's that? Boobies KILL? Hadn't read that far yet. Okay, wot's the deal? HS Senior dies due to a bad reaction to anesthesia? Elective surgery kills? Well, Spud does appreciate the risks inherent in any procedure involvng anesthesia but don't imagine this article will scare too many girls off of these procedures. Spud woulda maybe had a stern word fer the girl if she had had normal and healthy breast and was just looking for an unneccessary enlargement at her too young age but in this case she had congenital defects that she wanted to see corrected before going off to College and that was reason enuff. Malignant hyperthermia caused by a rare genetic disorder is a crappy way to go and Spud feels fer this girl's friends and family who must be devestated by this tragic loss. RIP Stephanie Kuleba. The larger trend towards girls making themselves unwell due to body image issues perpetuated by a media that tosses out terms like "heroin chic" is, it seems, with us to stay. Some folks however are fighting back. Anybody here hear of an online game available in the EU called "Miss Bimbo"? Mostly young women get to control a female sim and by interacting with the game (ie spending money on stupid text messages and playing games) they get Bimbo points that they can spend on things like diet pills, slutty clothes and plastic surgery. There are some parents who want to see the game banned. The makers claim their game is harmless and only reflects what is already out there in the real world. news.scotsman.com www.vnunet.com www.guardian.co.uk Spud prolly wouldn't encourage a young girl to play this game and although this game certainly isn't the cause of anorexic, diet-pill-popping teenagers with fake boobs it's certainly a contributing factor. Spud feels torn between wanting to inform people of this games existence and not wanting to give it any more press than it's currently getting. So conflicted. One thing fer sure, boobies rawk and Spud would much rather snuggle up to a real pair of As or Bs then a fake pair of Cs or Ds. Strewth! Be Well. /Sipping on a coffee and entering as ya do stage left.

Gotta wonder if this young lady would still be alive had the surgery been in a hospital with all the necessary emergency equipment and personnel. I have read before that many of these suregeries are performed in these clinics and deaths have occurred many times.

"Her main purpose for having this procedure done was to fix those type of defects and was not solely for the purposes of enhancement," said Stanziale. Why was it necessary for him to say that . She was 18 and going under the knife to correct genetic problems. So she was getting a little enhancement...what's it to you ? She prob would have gotten the anesthesia with just the corrective. Now because she opted for implants also ...her name is spread across the news. Like Danni...I wonder if she would have been better off in the hospital. But hell...she may have died from mrsa then.

The parents of this young lady need to be brought on charges of child abuse. Unless this young lady paid for this operation, those parents are responsible for letting her do this damn thing. Congential defects my ass, her family an there lawyers are getting there case ready....

This was more of a reconstructive surgery than cosmetic. The girl had asymetric breasts, and was having the smaller breast enlarged to match the other breast.

I love how everyone is going to ignore the fact that she was having the surgery primarily for OTHER PURPOSES and the augmentation was being done as an addition to the necessary procedure. One thing I will say though, given all the cases of death from anesthesia in both clinics and dental offices, any procedure requiring such should be done in a hospital with proper supportive equipment. I had a problem with anesthesia during a surgery. If I had not been in the hospital I would have died. As it was, it was a close thing. (Asthma attack causing respiratory system collapse due to irritation from the breathing tube. Solution was to use a child's tube slathered with lidocaine, then they brought me out of anesthesia without collapse). Completely unexpected, as I hadn't had any problems with my mild asthma in years.

Those fake jobbies might look nice but they feel like a baggy full of H2O under a blanket . I don't even think they look nice. It's been a while since I've had my hands on any fake ones, so maybe they've changed, but I thought they felt hard, not watery.

Nah, firm but not hard. I haven't felt any of the older models myself Reminds me of a story. One of my first girlfriends in HS, very early '70s, mother had gotten breast implants. It was a relatively new thing then and she was quite proud of them. She was once wearing a cleavage enhancing outfit when I went to pick up her daughter for a date. She was telling me all about her boobs. She then took my hand and placed them on one of them insisting that I feel them! I was 16 and kind of shy. I must've turned every shade of red possible.

Oh yeah, and this surgery was for other than cosmetic reasons as much as nosejobs are to make it easier to breathe (deviated septum my ass).

"The girl had asymetric breasts, and was having the smaller breast enlarged to match the other breast." Bullshit. All women's breasts are asymetric, there are no two of perfectly the same size unless they are plastic. Why don't they just admit that she was having a damn boob job and be done with it? A friend of mine had fake boobs, one burst, leaving her with half a flat chest. Luckily the implant was covered by the warranty... the IMPLANT was covered by the warranty, the surgery to replace the implant however was not. She is now walking around with a nice booby that is a 38, and another that is a 28. I'll stick with the ones that mother nature gave me thanks.

18 seems to be young to be making these kinds of decisions. But, then at 18 people do make a lot of decisions. All-in-all I am in favor of better breasts. It just makes the world a better place. Rodney Carrington kind of sums it up here.. YouTube

"The girl had asymetric breasts, and was having the smaller breast enlarged to match the other breast." EVERY human is asymmetrical in reference to any body part they have two of. And then we have: "Kuleba died last Friday during a corrective surgery to repair congenital defects in her breasts." Congenital defects? I guess the next time some woman comments on how little my "rod" is in relationship to my large "tackle" I can plead congenital defect. Yeah they're that big!

Posted by Litlebritdifrnt Yes it is true that all breast are asymmetric, however, some women have breast that are more asymmetric than others. When one breast is two-three cup sizes different than the other it makes buying clothes very difficult. The clothes do not fit properly, and there is a body image issue that can dramatically affect a persons confidence in public. There are implants that can be stuffed in the bra, however, an augmentation is a very good, long term durable solution. The operation is extremely safe, but as this article points out, not perfectly safe. Those implants aren't just fun for the guys...sometimes it actually improves the way someone feels about themselves and allows them to be a bit more confident in public.

OK I have to know how in the hell can You tell if one breast is bigger than the other when they look identical?? Do Women go out and steal a Micrometer and measure them or is there some sort of volumetric Effeciency test that they perform on them??? I don't get it. Larry Mohr

I understand that this girls breast augmentation was being done to correct a birth defect, but on average young girls and young men are going thru these procedures at too young of an age, at a rate so fast it is scarey. Parents need to teach their children that if you want to do these breast agumentations or any other plastic surgery not to do such until the age of 21 being that their bodies are still developing until that age. We as a society need to instill in our children values that show them there is no need for a perfect body, that the only "perfect being" is God. Also teach them that the imperfection that they are so determined to change may very well show up in their children.. Be happy with yourself mind, body and spirit. I can sympathize with women who have given birth, undergone a c-section or hysterctomy or nursed babies. These life occurrences will alter your body and your body may not snap back into the shape it was prior to these life changes. I myself would be lying if I did not admit to thinking about having breast augmentation surgery or a tummy tuck to correct the imperfections that I dislike on my body due to child birth and aging. However, I have come to accept that my body is and will go thru changes every day and year that I live and I have come to accept it. Not to mention that my husband claims that he is happy with what and how I look. Know that a horrific 5 second car crash can alter your looks and plastic surgery may not be able to correct it, God has the power to give looks and also the power to take them away. We need to accept our flaws and learn to be beautiful from from inside out. .45 Cal

2112 FYI... Comments such as that is the reason why society is so hung up on looks and risk their lives on plastic surgery to achieve that look. People should judge a person on more than looks alone.. Besides, ever see a person who has undergone more than one plastic surgery on their face???? They are truly "butt ugly"!!! .45 Cal

she was 18 and she had deformed breasts. She probably knew she was going to be getting laid a bunch in college so she wanted to take care of it before an embarrassing situation occurred. I saw some bad breasts when i used to sleep around and would have liked to see some fake ones every now and then.

That's the $186,000.00 question. Its the same parents that take the side of their kid when they get in trouble at school. Its the same parents that don't teach their children to respect themselves and others. and on and on. I knew a kid who got busted smoking pot in the back of the school buss. He was in 9th grade. The parents came unglued at the school for susupending him and calling the cops. Go figure!

2112 You are so right! Parents should own up to the problems of their kids. I have to say when I hear parent say "not my child", I could never understand it. We as parents should be responsible for our children's behavior in and outside of school, teachers are responsible for education 100% as for dicipline that is a parent's job, not by saying my child would "never" do that or act that way. Since we are not with them 24/7 you pray that all that you have taught them in the home is how they are conducting themselves outside the home. .45Caliber

I concur .45, When I was having a hard time with my times tables in grade school my parents drew up a chart that I faced at the dinner table, made up card and worked with me until I knew them. It's not anyones responsibility but the parents. All others are just helpers at best. So, what type of .45 do you sport. I don't have a .45 but am quite fond of my .357/.38 Ruger SP101. It's a great CC gun.

im one of steph's friends & i dont understand why you ppl are saying her parents were abusing her or w/e. her mom approved and her dad didnt, her mom was doing it for the sake of her daughters feelings and self esteem. she was anything BUT fake so stop saying she was doing it to look like hollywood and to have bigger boobs. it was a CORRECTIVE surgery. and stop being so stereotypical and stephanie when you all didnt even know her. you guys dont even know half of the story. you just listen to what the news says & they are putting words in peoples mouths. Steph's family told the doctors and attorneys not to say anything to the press, so dont be so quick to believe everything u hear on the news.

That sed, there were some pretty crass and unfeeling, unthinking remarks on this thread. There were some good ones too...
Case in point. Know that a horrific 5 second car crash can alter your looks and plastic surgery may not be able to correct it, God has the power to give looks and also the power to take them away. We need to accept our flaws and learn to be beautiful from from inside out. ~.45 Cal Damn straight! Beauty is only skin deep but ugly goes right to the bone. Stephanie's freak death was a tragedy and Spud honestly mourns her loss despite having never met the young lady but don't rely on the kindness of stranger, RIPster. Yer disillusionment with the state of MSM news is at least one good thing to come out of this tragedy. Disillusioned is a good word. Be Well. /Special Hi to .45 Cal Gal //Long time no see!

Hey Spud; I know it's been quite a while, I took a break from this place for a while because of two reasons, sometimes these folks just would get on my nerves with their entries and more importantly I was and still am recovering from major back surgery..But I am as good as new actually better than before with my new bionic back...LOL Glad to see some of good bloggers are still around .45 Cal
