Just as he promised he would do if the United States rejected the Keystone XL pipeline, Prime Minister Stephen Harper headed to Beijing earlier this week on a four-day trade mission in which he is expected to seek a deal to sell millions of barrels of Canadian oil to China. Since China is aggressively pursuing energy deals around the world to support its economic expansion, expect Harper to come home with an official signature on the dotted line. read more

President Obama's proposed 2013 budget will forecast a $901 billion deficit for next year, falling far short of his goal to halve the deficit in four years.

The budget, an outline of which was released by the White House Friday night, will show a higher deficit this year than in 2011, up from $1.3 trillion to $1.33 trillion. read more

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Those who greet customers at the entrance of Walmart stores nationwide are uneasy about a change in their duties.

Greeters no longer man the front doors during the 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. shift at the stores, and this month they were moved deeper into the stores to help shoppers find what they're looking for and navigate the aisles.

"They'll still greet. That's still an essential part of their position," Walmart spokeswoman Ashley Hardie told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. The move inside and the new duties were implemented in the past two weeks, and no positions were eliminated, Hardie said.

Aryeh Spero: More than any other nation, the United States was founded on broad themes of morality rooted in a specific religious perspective. We call this the Judeo-Christian ethos, and within it resides a ringing endorsement of capitalism as a moral endeavor. The Bible's proclamation that "Six days shall ye work" is its recognition that on a day-to-day basis work is the engine that brings about man's inner state of personal responsibility. Work develops the qualities of accountability and urgency, including the need for comity with others as a means for the accomplishment of tasks. With work, he becomes imbued with the knowledge that he is to be productive and that his well-being is not an entitlement. read more

"I predict that in the years ahead Enron, not Sept. 11, will come to be seen as the greater turning point in U.S. society." It's one of our all-time favorite quotes, and it was published 10 years ago this Sunday. As former Enron adviser Paul Krugman might say, this statement is false.

It was, of course, Krugman who wrote that statement, in his Jan. 29, 2002, New York Times column. read more

You pubbies are also good at avoidance in addressing a question. There has been another jobs bill since the stimulus, that was also connected to infrastructure. So here's the question again.

-Explain the difference between your willingness to continue to employ troops with no practical need, and your lack of willingness to employ people to repair roads, dams, bridges, schools, etc...-

I'd say that there actually ARE productive jobs for those troops being cut...if you pubbies were actually willing to spend money on American infrastructure.

Pubbies? Don't know what that is; someone who drinks beer at a pub? I am certain that I am not one.

As to the actual question you finally got around to asking . . .

1. The military's primary job is deterrent. their job is not to fight pointless wars. Their job is not to deliver groceries after a tsunami. Their job is to train, and train, and train some more. Primarily as a deterrent to others who may want to start trouble.

When I was in the Air Force in North Dakota our commander said it very simply: Whatever your job is on this base, you all have the same mission. We put bombs on targets. If you do your job well, we will never have to do that.

So, for you to say "your willingness to continue to employ troops with no practical need" only shows that you have no understanding of the military. So, you are not qualified to say anything about the military. You do not understand.

2. "your lack of willingness to employ people to repair roads, dams, bridges, schools, etc...-"

Where have I ever said I was not willing to employ people in this way? It was your Messiah who admitted that he was a clueless idiot and that all that 'shovel-ready' money went down a rat hole into someone's pocket.

You want more money for infrastructure, but you don't demand responsibility and accountability for your tax dollars. Seems that you are the one who is not willing to spend money on infrastructure. You want to piss away tax dollars on the illusion that the money is being used wisely.

At least you did not say that the infrastructure was "crumbling." That's the tired fucking cliche I expect from losers like AmeriCunt.
