Wisconsin state Rep. Brett Hulsey, a Democratic candidate for governor, plans to hand out white Ku Klux Klan-style hoods to Wisconsin Republicans as they gather for their annual convention Friday to highlight what he says are their racist policies. Hulsey, who is white, came into the state Capitol press room on Thursday to show off a hood he made with his daughter's sewing machine using curtain material purchased for $1. "It's a Wisconsin Republican Party hat," Hulsey said. "And people can interpret it any way they want."

The American economy slowed drastically in the first quarter of 2014, as wintry weather depressed corporate spending and housing sector activity, while weak exports and smaller additions to inventories by businesses also held back growth.

At an annualized rate of 0.1 percent, the pace of expansion in January, February and March was the weakest since the fourth quarter of 2012, when output also barely grew. It also represented a sharp deceleration from the level of growth recorded in the second half of 2013, when the economy expanded at a 3.4 percent rate.

The first-quarter pace also fell well short of the 1.2 percent rate of growth expected by Wall Street economists before the Commerce Department announcement Wednesday morning. read more

solid intelligence sharing and common sense regulation.

What does that even mean?

The article's author says:
>Between 83% -- 91% of the country supports background checks for all gun purchases and yet, somehow, this simple provision is consistently written out of proposed legislation.

Really? Is anyone aware of any state where you can purchase a firearm without a background check? I don't know of any and I don't know any gun owners who don't support having background checks.

And yes, they also must run background checks at gun shows too.

So the author goes on to say:
>Background checks and mental health evaluations for all gun owners, on a five year verification cycle, would be a great first step.

Yeah sure, except that it is already the law:

>Requiring licenses and negligent discharge insurance would be part of common sense reform.

Fine. Lets require licenses. Moving on... How would negligent discharge insurance prevent deaths?

>We should consider putting a cap on the number of firearms purchased for personal use.

Why? Would also do nothing to prevent these "thousands of deaths".

>At the very least, misdemeanors such as DUIs, drug charges, and white collar crimes should be added to the list of crimes that preclude offenders from owning firearms.

Ah HA! Now the truth is revealed. This is what the libs really want, cause drinking, smoking weed, and cheating on your taxes makes someone totally incapable to safely owning a firearm. Remember people: Felons cannot own guns. Its called a misdemeanor for a reason. Moder8, you're a defense attorney. Do you really want to take away the rights of people convicted of misdemeanors?

Completely stupid article.
