"The Russian Federation has annexed nobody as you know, the Russian Federation poses a threat to no-one, as you know. So why do you repeat the lies every time you open your mouth? How about less propaganda, less rhetoric, less hype, less hysteria, less intrusion, less spreading hatred and more dialogue and more respect?

"Now that you have sided openly with Fascists, now that you have sided openly with terrorists in several theatres of war, now that you have sided with or identified yourself with torturers, now that you stand side-by-side with your country's torture and concentration camps, where citizens are detained for a decade without right to due legal process (and you call yourself a lawyer?), now that you side with those who call for, or are supported by those who call for, the death of Russians and Jews, I believe the ball is in your court, Mr. President." read more

The senior Republican official told your correspondent that he also expects a mostly realist bent to any eventual Jeb Bush foreign policy vision rather than the neoconservatism that dominated much of his brother's presidency.

The senior Republican official noted that the former Florida governor's Las Vegas speech was more activist than realist. How to explain that?

"Well, remember, he was speaking in front of Sheldon Adelson," the Republican official said. "If you come out very realist, you're not going to be very close to Sheldon Adelson -- and his money."

Father Lahzi Gaid has been working in the Secretariat of State, where his duties have included reading the Arabic-language summary of the Pope's remarks at weekly public audiences. In his new role he will work alongside Father Fabian Pedacchio, the Argentine priest who has been assisting Pope Francis since shortly after his election.

The appointment of a priest from an Eastern Catholic tradition to serve alongside the Pontiff is another innovation by Pope Francis, who has already showed a very different approach to the use of priest-secretaries. read more

A New York City councilman has effectively told traditional marriage supporters they are "not welcome" in the Big Apple.

In response to Chick-fil-A's proposed plans to expand their business and set up restaurants in several locations, including New York City, Councilman Daniel Dromm told the Huffington Post that the fast-food chain would not be welcome in the most populous city in the country.

"We don't need bigots coming to New York City," Dromm told HuffPost. "They are not welcome here unless they can embrace all of New York's diverse community, including the LGBT community."

"We don't need bigoted people even keeping their opinions to themselves," Dromm said. "They need to wake up and see reality."

Brian Brown, president of the National Organization for Marriage, has called Dromm's remarks "outrageous" and "intolerant."
