"I just love how some of the lefties try to rationalize their illegal activities by equating a legal product, such as beer, with illegal drugs. Somehow, they think making the comparison justifies their dubious behavior (no pun intended)."

Your commentary alluded to the use of said product, not the legality.
Once upon a time, alcohol was rendered illegal. There was even a Constitutional amendment to prohibit the manufacture, sale, and use of alcohol. Then by yet another Constitutional amendment, it was magically made legal again. Woo-hoo!
Before meddlesome nanny-bots stuck their nanny-noses into people's private recreational activities, alcohol was free for whoever wanted to gin some up in its 1000s of formulations.
Before meddlesome nanny-bots stuck their nanny-noses into people's private recreational activities, hemp, a.k.a. marijuana, was free for whoever wanted to grow it (and let's not even get into the 1001 uses for said plant, for which Americans are prohibited to explore, or the untold deaths and misery caused by your legal recreational substance, which cannot be attributed to the very slightest degree to the recreational use of Herb).
Your argument has no merit. Try again.
FTR, of Herb I partake not.
And some people, such as yourself, should be more left than right. You know the rule:
Lefty loosey, righty tighty.
Loosen up, dude! You be too tight!

"There are few things as pathetic and pitiful as those isolates who enter old age without having any children, any generation to succeed them, any sense of belonging."
Yikes!! That hurt, man! But I don't think I'm pathetic being that I have no bio-kids.
FTR, I was once married to woman with children, from a previous marriage; she was incapable of bearing more. Do I have regrets? Perhaps. She had issues, which is why I am single now.
"How many of you commenting on the size of this family are yourselves childless? Oh! Ashamed to say because you are biological dead ends?"
Ouch again!
But yeah, perhaps I am a "biological dead end." I don't stress over it. Some breed, some don't. Perhaps some shouldn't be allowed to breed.
If this is what this family has chosen to do, if they can handle it (and they obviously can), and raise decent human beings, more power to 'em.
