I am no fan of the Iraqi war (a distraction to say the least). However, when has the US EVER stated or even implied, overtly or covertly, that they are attempting to create a Christian state in the middle east? Show a link, a quote, something!

Seriously, if the US wanted to do that, they would have invaded Lebanon which has a fairly large Christian population. I do not know the number of Christians in Iraq, but I expect it is quite small.

As far as the IRA being a religious organization, absolutely false. Their objective has always been a united Ireland (26 + 6 = 1). So to compare them to Al Qaeda or Hammas or any other Islamic group is completely incorrect. Those groups want to establish a Muslim Caliphate or destroy Israel or both. The IRA did not call for the destruction of England (though they wouldn't have minded it I am sure), nor did they call for the creation of a Catholic state that everyone in the world should be a part of.

That being said, when they became a para-military organization in the 60's they became little different than any other terrorist group regardless of their stated goals.

I am trying to determine what scientific processes were used to support Creation Science? Beyond the book of Genesis of course, which is the word of God so is therefore 100% factual. Oh, I would love to see how an Ark could carry EVERY species of animal (two by two) and then even if that were true, how could these two animals reproduce without massive in-breeding and the birth defects that follow. I prefer a more restrained view of government, which is consistent with that of our founders - giovernment should have a limited role in our lives. You do a good job of blurring the lines a bit, however, you miss 1 key distinction:
Government IS repsonsible, according to our strictures, for providing infrastructure and defense.
If you are going to invoke the 'welfare' language, then my point stands - why is stem-cell research, paid for via the treasury, MORE worthy than whatever other miracle 'big pharma' is working on?

Everyone prefers a more restrained view of government-- as long as that does not get in the way of their projects. I did not invoke welfare language, I simply rebutted your comment about the government not funding untested programs. You in turn brought up the governments responsibility to provide for infrastructure and defense. Now my civics is a bit rusty, however, I do believe that the words, promote the general welfare-- are in the constitution as well. If the reason why funding was not allowed for Stem Cells was financial, they your argument would be valid. However, that is NOT why. The government invests in many unproven technologies (missile defense comes to mind) every day. Stem Cell research did not get funded because of the Christian Right. Who supported everything the Christian Right told him to? Reagan.

There is no doubt in my mind that Osteen's wife did exactly what the flight attendant said she did. Accordingly, she was fined by the FAA for her actions.

However, I also agree this is a money grab. The flight attendant is suing her for "loss of faith?" If her faith was so weak that the actions of one spoiled woman could shake it; sounds like she didn't have much faith to lose (therefore how could it be worth very much).

That is usually the issue with these "super churches", it has much less to do with worshiping God and much more to do with worshiping the rock star Pastor.
