"As tempted as I sometimes am by those "no mufflers on my Harley makes it safe for me to ride with no helmet" morons, I prefer to let Darwin do his job without intervention on my part."
Obviously NORTHGUY3, you've never driven a motorcycle. As someone who has for some 43 years now, I can definitively state that "loud pipes save lifes." If selfish 4-wheelers would put down their books, food, makeup and especially phones, stop digging to find whatever, stop yelling at the kids. etc; the pipes wouldn't be necessary. Every day I ride (which is nearly 300 days a year), I see a selfish driver not paying attention thus threatening MY life - so I crack the throttle and watch the moron's head turn. Works every time.
As far as helmets, for me, the vision and hearing restrictions/limitations offset the potential gain since they only work under ideal conditions and can actually cause more damage under other conditions. I agree with Darwinism but they won't let me shoot the morons that put MY life in danger from THEIR selfishness. I would like to think that MY life is more important than THEIR Facebook feed that can wait until they're no longer operating a vehicle.
If people would just drive their ------ car, use their mirrors (all of them), get out of the passing lane after passing and turn-off the damn phone while operating, few would ever benefit from wearing a helmet!
