In Swaziland, witches are forbidden to fly their broomsticks higher than 150 meters, and if they do, they are subject to arrest and a fine of R500 000 ($55,000 USD).Though it seems like a joke, witchcraft in the African country is taken seriously.

Principal Dumps Guards, Adds Arts

The principal of a violence plagued pilot school for grades K-8 in Roxbury, Mass., turned it around by reducing security so it could afford band, art and dance programs again. "We got rid of the security guards," said principal Andrew Bott. "A lot of my colleagues really questioned the decision," Bott said. "A lot of people actually would say to me, 'You realize that Orchard Gardens is a career killer? You know, you don't want to go to Orchard Gardens.'" Test scores have improved and it has one of the fastest student improvement rates in the state.

Squirrel Hunter Tapes Bullet to BB Gun

A man who tried to shoot a squirrel for dinner by taping a .40-caliber cartridge to a BB gun was hospitalized with shrapnel wounds after the cartridge exploded, Gainesville police reported. William Daniel Lloyd, 31, told police he was trying to shoot a squirrel with a Pumpmaster 760 BB gun. A complaint has been filed against him by the authorities for discharging a firearm in public and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.

Parent with Gun Ruins Little League

A Little League in California cancelled this weekend's baseball games after a parent fired a gun into the car of an opposing parent Wednesday. "Fired a weapon at a tee ball game. First of all, how do you bring a gun to a tee ball game and second, how do you fire it off?" said Anthony Spears, a father of a player in North Vallejo Little League. The shooting a half block away from the field occurred after a fight between two male spectators. No one was injured by the gunfire.

Exxon Pipeline Ruptures in Arkansas

An ExxonMobil pipeline rupture near Little Rock, Ark., Friday evening has resulted in a "major oil spill," according to the Environmental Protection Agency -- and ignited further debate over the transportation of crude oil in the U.S. Up to 10,000 barrels sprang from the pipeline, according to an incident report filed to the National Response Center by ExxonMobil early Saturday morning. Twenty-two residents were evacuated from their homes, according to a statement on the ExxonMobil website.
