Hillary Supporter: Vote for Palin Because of Gender

      <wordzilla:destination>http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/opinion/oped/bal-op.palin14sep14,0,4638337.story</wordzilla:destination>

Lynette Long: If Democratic women wait for the perfect woman to come along, we will never elect a woman. I will vote for McCain-Palin. I urge other women to do the same. I promise to be the first person knocking on her door if <i>Roe v. Wade</i> or any other legislation that goes against the rights of women is threatened.

<wordzilla:extended>I thought this was interesting considering it came from a Democrat and Hillary supporter.
<p>The two paragraphs I found most interesting were the one where she revealed the conversation with Obama after the primaries, and this one: "Little girls won't understand if Sarah Palin is pro-life or pro-choice, believes in gun control or is a member of the NRA, but they will know the vice president of the United States is a girl - and that alone will alter their perceptions of themselves."</wordzilla:extended>

Warner: Dems Don't Get Palin

      <wordzilla:destination>http://warner.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/09/11/no-laughing-matter/</wordzilla:destination>

Judith Warner: "Palin Power" isn't just about making hockey moms feel important. It's not just about giving abortion rights opponents their due. It's also, in obscure ways, about making yearnings come true -- deep, inchoate desires about respect and service, hierarchy and family that have somehow been successfully projected onto the figure of this unlikely woman and have stuck.

<wordzilla:extended>Interesting OpEd piece from Warner. Not her usual fair and -- at least to me --she came across as being a little shell-shocked by a sudden realization. Well worth the read, as is the essay mentioned near the end which is by a liberal psychologist.
<p>Haidt has conducted research in which liberals and conservatives were asked to project themselves into the minds of their opponents and answer questions about their moral reasoning. Conservatives, he said, prove quite adept at thinking like liberals, but liberals are consistently incapable of understanding the conservative point of view.</wordzilla:extended>
