Americans 'snapping' by the millions

Terrorism. Chaos. Fear of the future. In the age of Obama, America is undergoing a "fundamental transformation" – that much everyone knows. What on earth is going on? Why isn't medical science – and for that matter all of our incredible scientific and technological innovations in every area of life – reducing our stress and lightening our load? Why doesn't the almost-magical availability of the world's accumulated knowledge, thanks to the Internet, make us more enlightened and happy? Why is it that, instead, more and more of us are so stressed out as to be on a collision course with illness, misery, tragedy and death?

Regal Cinemas cuts workweek for thousands

More than 700 Texas educators take concealed handgun class

"It went from 20 to 30 teachers to the more than 700 we have here today. It just exploded with Chris' involvement," Dalworthington Gardens Police Chief Bill Waybourn told the paper.

Teachers from across the state and at least one representative from each school district in North Texas attended the class, which was organized in response to the school shooting in Newtown, Conn., according to the report.

Army Suspends Tuition Assistance

The Army announced Friday it is suspending its tuition assistance program for soldiers newly enrolling in classes due to sequestration and other budgetary pressures. "This suspension is necessary given the significant budget execution challenges caused by the combined effects of a possible year-long continuing resolution and sequestration," Paul Prince, an army personnel spokesman at the Pentagon, wrote in an email to Stars and Stripes. "The Army understands the impacts of this action and will re-evaluate should the budgetary situation improve."

North Korea Threatens to Nuke U.S.

North Korea on Thursday vowed to launch a pre-emptive nuclear strike against the United States, amplifying its threatening rhetoric hours ahead of a vote by U.N. diplomats on whether to level new sanctions against Pyongyang for its recent nuclear test. "Intercontinental ballistic missiles and various other missiles, which have already set their striking targets, are now armed with lighter, smaller and diversified nuclear warheads and are placed on a standby status," Army Gen. Kang Pyo Yong told a mass rally in Pyongyang. "When we shell (the missiles), Washington, which is the stronghold of evils, .... will be engulfed in a sea of fire."
