The embattled mayor of Pennsylvania's financially crippled capital of Harrisburg was ousted on Tuesday when she lost the Democratic primary to the owner of an independent bookstore.

Mayor Linda Thompson's loss to Eric Papenfuse comes after a tumultuous term in which her outbursts and statements caused a loss of confidence in her administration.

You can even copy and paste the list from your moderation thread. Be proud of the voices you have silenced. Lets separate the men and women from the sheep. Are you man or woman enough to show who you have plonked? If you are big enough to hide behind the feature, be big enough to show who they are...This should make interesting conversation.

"Scientists" from Pakistan and Saudi trespassing near lake

Shortly after midnight Tuesday, seven people were caught trespassing at the Quabbin Reservoir. State Police say the five men and two women are from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore, and "cited their education and career interests" for being in the area. The men told police they were chemical engineers and recent college graduates

NY residents dont like bikini's and side boob in a park

New York families are up in arms after a children's park in Manhattan has become overrun by bikini-clad sunbathers.

Residents of the Stuyvesant Town development have taken to a local blog to complain about 'side boob' that, last weekend, apparently took over half the grassy play area known as Playground 10.

A local kids' soccer league has also complained, prompting security guards to boot the near-naked women, mostly students who are being sought out as tenants for the pricey development, from the green.

'A lot of side boob on the playground this weekend,' an anonymous resident wrote on The Stuyvesant Town Report blog.

Teacher Fired Over Bikini Modeling

A high school teacher in Florida was asked to resign and escorted off campus over risque bikini modeling photos that she did for her side job. Olivia Sprauer, 26, models under the name Victoria James. On her Model Mayhem page, Sprauer wrote, "I am more than comfortable shooting tasteful nudes for the right projects." She said of her termination, "I don't make pornography. I don't open my legs on camera. I take swimsuit glamour style photography."

Russians Fly Strategic Bombers Near Alaska

Russian strategic bombers conducted flights within the U.S. defense zone close to northern Alaska and the Aleutian Islands last week in Moscow's latest incident of nuclear saber rattling against the United States, according to defense and military officials. Two Bear H nuclear-capable bombers were detected flying into the military's Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) near the Aleutians, where a strategic missile defense radar is located, and Alaska's North Slope region by the Arctic and Chukchi Seas on April 28 and 29, military officials told the Washington Free Beacon.

Williamson and his wife Barbara had lived on a Nevada ranch for the past 18 years, taking in abandoned lions, tigers, cougars and other big cats. They were a young newlywed couple in 1968 when they bought a cluster of rundown buildings on 15 acres overlooking the Pacific Ocean and turned it into Sandstone. "Everything was optional," Barbara Williamson told AP of the swinging that took place at the retreat. "We provided a wonderful, wonderful environment in a natural setting, and that natural setting just sort of gave people permission."

Councilwoman Cries Racism Over Quilt

A Martinsville, Va., city councilwoman presented with a student quilt donated to the city raised a racial objection. The students who made it were talking about the quilt at a city meeting when Sharon Brooks Hodge referred to one of the squares and said, "Excuse me, why is the small black person the negative image? I take offense to that." Students left the council room crying and Hodge later apologized. She said, "It was never my intent to make the students cry, nor to upset those who watched the Council meeting on the government channel." But she also told a TV reporter, "I am a voice for the black people. I am not one of your locally home grown house ne-----. ... Some of the citizens in Martinsville need to wake up because I am black. I am also a voice for black people and we are tired, we are fed up and we are not taking it anymore."

The Tsarnaev family, including the suspected terrorists and their parents, benefited from more than $100,000 in taxpayer-funded assistance -- a bonanza ranging from cash and food stamps to Section 8 housing from 2002 to 2012, the Herald has learned.

A wartime edict to entice immigrants to join the military in exchange for rapid naturalization has created 83,000 new American citizens. But one critic worries the initiative will become permanent -- or perhaps even expand -- essentially outsourcing more U.S. combat jobs and, he argues, injecting the armed forces with an increased security risk.

Launched via a 2002 executive order by President George W. Bush, the program lets green-card holders who enlist in the U.S. armed services bypass the typical five-year residency rule and apply immediately for citizenship at no fee. More than 10 percent of such naturalization ceremonies have taken place in 28 countries abroad, including 3,412 in Iraq, 2,102 in Japan and 1,134 in South Korea, according to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, or USCIS, which administers the process.
