Twerking, as it is known in the hip-hop community, is a hard-hitting, rump-shaking dance move that celebrities including Beyonce and Miley Cyrus have been known to bust out, but it has also gotten a group of San Diego high school students suspended.

A video, which has since been removed from YouTube by the user, showed a group of students from Scripps Ranch High School dancing. Mostly female students in tops and leggings were shown twerking in the school yard, twerking with each other and even twerking upside down.

Public School Adopts All-Vegeterian Menu

A New York City elementary school has adopted an all-vegetarian menu, serving kids tofu wraps and veggie chili. Public School 244 is the first public school in the city to go all-veggie -- and might be the first all-veggie public elementary school in the nation, according to the animal rights group PETA. Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott said he's proud of the "trailblazing" school.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is facing a backlash from the left over ads that support drilling in Alaska and the Canada-to-Texas Keystone pipeline, as the young billionaire wades ever-deeper into charged political debates.

The daisy chain that connects Zuckerberg with the drilling ads starts with FWD.US, the bipartisan group Zuckerberg co-founded for the purpose of supporting immigration legislation. That organization gave money to a conservative group, Americans for a Conservative Direction, that aired a TV ad supporting South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham. It also gave to a group that put up an ad backing drilling in Alaska.

FL Retort Rummy Almost Dies In Sewer

A South Florida man nearly drowned after jumping into a storm drain seeking a woman's dropped keys, fortified first by chugging a bottle of rum.

Miami Beach police say 49-year-old Richard Brandenberg told the woman Tuesday that he had experience working in sewer systems and was willing to go in and look for her keys. Witnesses say Brandenberg then drank a half-pint of rum and smoked a cigarette, telling them it was to keep warm in the cold water.

While making a presentation recently to a meeting of the Audubon Society in North Las Vegas, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service biologist Brian Novosak described the fowl carnage taking place at the Altamont Pass Wind farm in the Diablo Range east of San Francisco. Altamont Pass was built in the 1970s and has about 5,000 relatively small wind turbines, compared to more modern wind turbines with fan blades as long as 300 feet. Novosak said that between 2005 and 2010 anywhere from 55 to 94 golden eagles were killed each year, as well as upwards of 718 burrowing owls and up to 9,300 passerines (songbirds).

Vegas May Take Bets on Elections

A Nevada lawmaker proposed a bill this week to let people place bets on their favorite candidates. The legislation by state Sen. Tick Segerblom (D-Las Vegas) would allow wagering on presidential elections and primaries along with Senate and House races. "I don't see why there should be some prohibition, or some moral qualms," Segerblom said. "If they can bet on our election in England, then there's no reason why we couldn't bet on our election in the United States."

A group of Nevada lawmakers visited Arizona to tour a marijuana dispensary in the hopes of passing legislation that allows such marijuana sales in their own state. Sen. Tick Segerblom (D-Las Vegas) said while the group inspected marijuana on display, "I've never seen bud that good." Later, when asked about his knowledge of marijuana, Segerblom said, "Not too much recently."
