David Beckham to Retire

LONDON (AP) -- David Beckham is retiring from soccer, ending a career in which he transcended the sport with forays into fashion and a marriage to a pop star that made him a global celebrity.

The 38-year-old former England captain, who recently won a league title in a fourth country with Paris Saint-Germain, said Thursday he will quit after the season.

''It's a good way to go out,'' Beckham said in Paris. ''It's every athlete's dream, every footballer's dream to go out on the top - on top form or winning a trophy ... leaving as a champion.''

3.9 tons of marijuana confiscated by Texas Highway Patrol

For highway patrol officers, there's no such thing as a routine traffic stop. That adage was again proven true when a Texas Highway Patrol trooper pulled over a gas tanker to perform a routine visual inspection and discovered the tanker was carrying 3.9 tons of marijuana. It's unclear how the trooper was able to make the discovery.

Macy's Sells $1,500 Necklace for $47

Macy's department store mailed a catalog to customers earlier this month that mistakenly offered a $1,500 sterling silver and 14-karat gold necklace for $47. It wasn't just a typo in the ad. Customers purchased them for that price, snapping up all the inventory at the Macy's in Collin Creek Mall, according to customer Robert Bernard. After the item ran out, he was sold two for shipment but Macy's later cancelled the order. "I'm very, very bothered by it because I don't want anybody else to feel the way I feel," Bernard said.

But thanks in large part to the Iraq war, I no longer consider myself a Republican or a man of the right.

Lakers Owner Jerry Buss Dies

Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss died Monday in Los Angeles after a long battle with cancer. He was 80. Buss bought the Lakers for $16 million in 1979 and turned the team into a 10-time NBA champion. "He is a master at building a team," said Lakers great Magic Johnson at the time of Buss' induction into the NBA Hall of Fame in 2010. "He has put the Lakers right up there with the New York Yankees as the top brands in sports. He has been able to do so because he is one of the shrewdest businessmen you will ever meet. With him, it's never been about putting money in his pocket. It's always been about putting it back into the team."

Rubio Raises $100,000 Off Water Bottle

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., has hauled in some serious cash since his water sipping moment Tuesday during the Republican response to the State of the Union.

Reclaim America, Rubio's PAC, has raised more than $100,000 by selling more than 3,450 water bottles since Wednesday, a source close to Rubio confirmed to ABC News. The white water bottles, which bear the name "RUBIO" in bright red letters, come with a minimum donation of $25.

"Send the liberal detractors a message that not only does Marco Rubio inspire you … he hydrates you too," the donation request read.
