I believe we owe Laura Bush a tremendous compliment upon how she's raised at least one of her daughters and likely both of them. While I'm sure George must have had some positive influences as well, based upon the emerging narrative of Jenna's latest turn in life, his style of political views seems to be missing in much of what Jenna says and does.

I've never stopped to think just how difficult it must be to be the child of the POTUS when one is trying to establish a unique identity as do we all as we're maturing. I've only quickly perused this story, but I did read another in People magazine saying pretty much the same things about Ms. Bush. Perhaps its too bad that some of her heartfelt compassion for individuals not quite as fortunate as herself never rubbed off on her father, but I will look forward to see just what impact this young lady has on the public stage as her life progresses. Any parent would be proud to have a child espouse the views and true compassion which Jenna does, and I wish her nothing but the best in her impending marriage.

I saw her interview on Larry King. She was bright, articulate, and personable. Looks a lot like her mom. She is passionate about her work and very well informed about HIV-Aids issues.

She also stated that she is not her father and has her own views and opinions, and that she didn't necessarily agree with everything he says.

I think she's come a long way from that party-girl image we got a few years back.

I agree Mr. Fair. The limited portrayal of Jenna and her sister were unfortunately pretty much all that the public ever was exposed to them. None of us would only like to be known for our college carrousing, as was their case.

Though I don't blame the media because if the Bushes had ever wanted their children's personalities to become more well known, all they had to do was place them before media types willing to tell their stories.

I see a daughter who's views on life and the world differ from those her father publically espouses. Maybe this has been the reason for so much secrecy surrounding their lives, but whatever the case, her work and words illuminated in her book and her spoken personal passions far exceed any thought that she lacks depth as a person based upon a few publicized past incidents.

She's young, so she has her whole life to become a born-again.

I agree with you, Jeff, this story was very complimentary to Jenna Bush. The White House is pushing hard for a "warm/soft/more gentle" appearance right now (Jenna's engagment, the interview on tv the other night) with the upcoming elections on the horizon and I'm sure we'll see more, maybe even a White House wedding.

This story is not the end but the beginning.

This issue is not about safe sex, it is about Jenna and her not being interested in politics.

It will serve the RNC, it confuses those not so political in what the RNC really support, it will gain votes.
