Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Heading to Baghdad airport, a fuel convoy turned into an inferno, and resulted in the largest single loss of American civilians in the Iraq war. Seven died and 26 were injured.

Sounds likes par for the course.

Who's going take the blame for this fuck up? Another corporal or sergeant?

The top dogs are looking for a scape goat as I type....

"KBR denies the charges and says, like the Army, it should be immune from lawsuits. Yet, in a letter sent to Stannard just prior to the lawsuit, the company offers to help him receive the Army Defense of Freedom medal, but only if Stannard will agree to "release" KBR "from any and all claims." In essence, this means giving up any right to sue."

These guys are complete scum.

Except even scum has a purpose.

Does anyone have any figures on the number of 'private contractors' killed and injured in Iraq?

Prior to Rumsfeld's 'new army', the 7 deaths in the incident documented in this article would have been American military personnel and would have had to have been included as part of the U.S. casualty total. The reality is that the 'human' cost of the war is MUCH higher than we have been led to believe, but then we already knew that the Cheney/Bush administration has always promoted outsourcing 'American jobs', we just didn't think that they had included our military establishments in those programs. However, they didn't have much choice as they had to fulfill all those 'campaign' promises, NOT the ones that they included in their 2000 and 2004 TV adverts, but rather those that they made in corporate boardrooms while those 'campaign' checks were being slipped to them under the boardroom tables.

I want to see the government paper work that will replace all of KBR's(Haliburton) equipment...I'll bet they make a million just on replacement values...

Investigations and jail for these thieves...I wish Harry Truman were alive...He made his bones cleaning up this kind of corruption...

www.pbs.org

Frontline did a show about contractors in Iraq. The show claims that the actual total isn't known...

Strange little fact. At least two of the companies there with contractors have reported numbers that are higher than the department of labor. Don't these corporations get insurance money when their employees are killed? Seems fishy, but we'll never hear a word of it I suppose.

It's currently a little over 600 from a newscast I happened to see last week.

You can read a
PARTIAL LIST OF NAMES OF CONTRACTORS KILLED in this link.

Contractors go there of their own free will. I feel bad, but not as bad as when a soldier dies.

And I don't feel bad at all when a mercenary dies.

"For the Republifundies so loved Americans, that they sent them into firefights driving bombs".

Amen.

Can I get a hallelujah?

PBS had an interview with a contractor who was complaining the trucks have no armor.
The drivers' interpretation of KBR:
Kill'em
Bag 'em
Replace 'em.

Wasn't the road to the airport made safe?
Probably made fallujah safe.

"Kill'em
Bag 'em
Replace 'em."

Like working for Intel.

From the article:

"An anonymous letter from someone who describes himself as a former manager at KBR offers a cold-blooded explanation. "

hehe. anonymous.

So these civilians (which are the "mercenaries" like Blackwater employees that the liberals hate) died in the line of duty getting much needed fuel to soldiers on the battlefield.

A quote from a poster
"PBS had an interview with a contractor who was complaining the trucks have no armor."

So we're supposed to put tons of armor on fuel trucks now?
A fuel truck loaded with 2000 gallons of diesel isn't gonna go very fast to begin with. Do you liberal pants pissers think its realistic to encapsulate a FUEL TRUCK in armor?
I love hearing all this tactical and logistical advise from a bunch of wussies who never even humped a rucksack.

So we're supposed to put tons of armor on fuel trucks now?

No Fuckyou, we're supposed to send enough troops to fight the fucking war so that the logistical convoys aren't being shot at.

Unless you think having our fuel trucks blown up is an effective millitary strategy.
It's armored trucks or soldiers to protect the trucks. Pick one.

Bush's choice of NEITHER is bullshit.

So Bush personally gave the order to send the fuel trucks in with protection?

The article says thousands of rounds were fired off in defense of the those trucks.

"No Fuckyou, we're supposed to send enough troops to fight the fucking war so that the logistical convoys aren't being shot at."

this statement comming from the people that constantly say we should pull troops out because there are too many troops there and as a result we cant fight terrorism elsewhere or secure our boarders.
Which is it? We need more troops in Iraq or less?
You liberals are so deranged mentally, you cant even keep your lies and propaganda straight.

I've Humped Rucks From Alaska To Iraq and Have Done It For Over 2 Decades.
So I'm Sure If Humping Rucks Qualifies You In Commenting On Iraq Then I'm Sure I Can.

This Is A Bullshit War, Started For Bullshit Reasons, And Anyone Who Supports This And Continues To State It Is Going Well Is Totally Full Of Shit !!

Yeah thats it! "They" knew these guys would get killed and the trucks and gasoline destroyed. That way they could buy more trucks and gas from haliburton and make more profits for Chaney!

Yeah thats it!

It's not THAT they sent them there for the specific purpose of getting killed/blown to peices/shot to shit that is the issue.

I take issue with the fact that the company makes money off of the losses of those lives and equipment through insurance policies.

I guess it's all fair though, since Haliburton won the bidding war for those iraq contracts fairly. Oh...wait.

Which is it? We need more troops in Iraq or less?

Either one is better than what we have now, just pick one. It's called Go Hard, or Go Home.

Nobody on the left is calling for less troops, meaning still having troops in Iraq in fewer numbers.
We would prefer no troops at all in a bullshit war, but if we have to be there, it should be in such overwhelming force that there is no insurgency.

Bush personally gave the order to not send enough troops to do the job, so yes, he is responsible for fuel trucks being fired on. He is the Commander in Chief. If he doesn't want the responisbility, he can resign and clear brush full time.
