Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

J. Maynard Gelinas: People defend their group imposed ideologies and their local stars regardless of morality, ethics, or politics. That is simply human nature. People suck. Of course the Daily Kos folks didn't believe a word of it. They know that they're better than that! And I'm sure with some digging one could find Redstate editors and diarists mirroring the exact same mantra: Conservatives are just too honest for groupthink. Thus we see that on Daily Kos, just like on Redstate, even dissenting with an admin over a minor issue like asking for academic credentials, or whether plagiarism is wrong, will get a user quickly ejected.

"regardless of morality, ethics, or politics"

Or forensic evidence.

Thanks for the blog, RCADE.

The dark side of the Internet.

Say what you will about the "mainstream media." At least there is an address to complain to and a structure that tries to enforce standards.

Hello. I am the author of that article. I pulled it due to what I considered excessive and unfair snark to both participants in this debate. I have rewritten the piece to be more factual and provide better context for both parties involved. I think it is much better for the rewrite.

After it got dumped in the Kuro5hin.org queue last night I expected no one would notice the work. I'm shocked and pleasantly surprised to have Drudge link to my article. Thank you.

It is back online in new form. Please feel free to read and post whatever comments you consider appropriate as long as it's not abusive.

In defense of Ben, Thomas, a Redstate editor, wrote these astonishing words:

I repeat: Should the entire American Left fall over dead tomorrow, I would rejoice, and order pizza to celebrate. They are not my countrymen; they are animals who happen to walk upright and make noises that approximate speech. They are below human. I look forward to seeing each and every one in Hell.

I used to get astonished by sentiments like these--regardless of which side of the aisle expressed them--but now I realize there is a large reservoir of hate in this country that I was blithely naive about.

The fact that someone would rejoice and celebrate the death of "the entire American Left" (or the entire American Right) suggests to me that some people are living in politically segregated intellectual communities. It would be impossible for me to hate all Republicans because some of my family and friends are "them."

I look forward to seeing each and every one in Hell.

LOL I just caught the irony of that. Yeah, bro, we'll see you there.

After reading this peice the pertainent Drudge Retort question is, who is the Star here and who is the overly officious administrator........You need to take care of the stars and quit being jealous of their power.......Don't be a 'censoring authority', but if you are, at least be fair.........

Hey Gal, lets go get a room. Your good Doctors butt is a little big, but, it takes a big hammer to drive this nail.

Oh Rex, the Stars are in the Sky.

But living in Seattle you wouldn't know that. Head East. If you get to Spokane let me know if Hahn & Miller are still in business. I need a new hat.

Hey OZ, are you talking about the Horse and Cow?

I don't know Horse and Cow.

I got a Stetson from them in '81 so maybe it's changed hands. Hahn & Miller stamped into the inner band. Lasted almost 20 years.

I'm just over a size 8 so it's hard to shop off the rack.

They are below human.

Where have I heard that language before?

Oh yeah, Ubermenschen.

And the South in the fifties, when I was growing up.

Will we ever learn?

On the wider, it's-all-about-me side of things, I was banned by RedState a bit before the Domenech matter. And, I didn't just leave comments there either: I'd posted around 75 articles to my diary.

The reason appears to be because I called Bush's "guest" worker program "un-American". That appears to have crossed the invisible line.

I was also banned from leaving comments at DailyKos in 2003 back when it was just a solo site. I pointed out that he claimed that a photo was from al Jazeera, when in fact it was from a similarly-named group in Georgia.

Several of my on-topic, non-abusive comments that have disagreed with MMFA posts have also been deleted, but at least up until the last time I tried to leave a comment there I hadn't been banned. And, that's despite having been put on an immigration-related mailing list from that group.

(((People defend their group imposed ideologies and their local stars regardless of morality, ethics, or politics.)))

And the name of that people is "Larry Mohr"

"Thomas, a Redstate editor, wrote these astonishing words:

I actually was not surprised at reading this, except that he didn't go on to call Democrats "untermensch."

Hate has been the number one export of the rightnuts for decades. Since the fall of the Soviet Union, they have been desperate for something to be against. "Secular Humanism" was test driven in the 1980's and 1990's but has proven a poor substitute.

The funny thing is that, judged by world standards, there is no appreciable "American left." We don't have a parliamentary system, only two main parties. In Europe, the Democrats would be judged as a center-right party, while the GOP would be a right wing party.

FDR:

You can't possibly believe that Democrats are free of hate speech against Republicans?

I mean, I can't tell you homw many times I have been called a fascist, murderer, terrorist, nazi, and spit on, merely for wearing a "Bush/Cheney 2004" shirt on the streets of Manhattan prior to the election.

While I do not agree with the statement that Thomas wrote, I must point out that, Thomas is at best a fringe figure in the GOP...I certainly had never heard of him before you posted his quote.

However, the Democrats are rife with prominent public figures and politicians who say equally nasty and vicious comments about my party and my President.

So if you are actually looking to take the high road I think your party has a lot of baggage to get rid of first.

'quote by lunatic extremist'

'It does't surprise me to read an extremist from your political group, because people with your ideology espouse hate regularly. It's amazing he didn't say [German Nazi reference]. Our group is above all that, however, which is why we're currently marginalized. Why, in other parts of the world, we would be considered moderates and not [political wing].

I ignore the central point of the article, that both sides on the blogging spectrum abuse admin power to enforce groupthink within their communities, so I can point out this extremist statement at the exclusion of the extreme statement made by the opposing group.

See? I'm better than you.'

*cough!* *hack!* *cough!* *head spins*
