Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

At 9 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 29, 2005, as Hurricane Katrina swamped New Orleans, FEMA Director Michael Brown appeared on "Larry King Live" and announced, "This is a catastrophic disaster ...

Really?

I thought it was strummed the geeeetar, not fiddled.

"The prolonged confusion is partly explained by the White House's refusal to turn over many of the records and e-mails requested by the Senate and a special House committee investigating the fiasco. In a blistering report last week, the Republican-led House committee said the poor response "cost lives" and "prolonged suffering." "

Of course they are not going to turn over the records. And of course the pussy congress is not going to do anything other than say "oh well".

But of course if a blow job was in question articles of impeachment would be drawn up.

Party over Country every time.

I'm SHOCKED! Shocked I say!

Where's Nicey and the 100 bus deflection?!

Where's the claim that the Governor didn't give the necessary authority to the feds in time - two days before landfall simply isn't sufficient.

Don't you people know how much time and effort it is to play the blame game?!

Regards,
etc.

Nubsy is still trying to find links that show a 46% approval rating for the President is great.

It must hurt paging through all those links that still say he's at 39% to find it. Time they got their hands on a major polling organization and corrupted it now it appears.

Regards,
etc.

Cut Bush some slack. His flight suit was at the dry cleaners and his crotch stuffing socks in the laundry.
Can't expect the President to be on top of every little catastrophic disaster affecting America.
At least until after he reaches the seventh level in Mario Brothers III.

What I find astonishing is that 39% accept what he has done and in fact support it.

Over 1,000 Americans died in their homes as the water flowed in and 39% thing he's doing what he's supposed to.

Maybe it is just because 39% of the population set the bar really really low for him because they planned on him being a huge dipshit.

Way to burn a bunch of black people living in poverty.

That's what they're all about-burn the poor and disadvantaged for asking for help they cannot give themselves in the name of "Fiscal Responsibility"-bitch about "welfare queens"-then give out Trillions of dollars in tax cuts to the wealthiest people and Corporations in America. While poor people are getting poorer-and even closer to starvation. If even ONE of them dies from lack of resources-every one of those assholes, including the bums here who bitch about "entitlements" should spend the next twenty years in prison for Criminal Negligence.
Very Patiotic of Them

Frank, maybe you're unaware of the evacuation plans of the city of New Orleans. They had planned to leave 100,000 of the poorest people behind--they knew they could not get to them.

Well, you deserve the government you elect, as they say. And New Orleans had a pretty lousy municipal government. Worst in the country, even in good times.

Boxhead,

That the best you got? Weak.

If no level of government can step in when a major disaster strikes a city on your mainland then all levels of government should be replaced. Unless, of course, this level of response is acceptable then no one should be upset.

Hello. The federal government did step in, after the colossal incompetence and lack of preparation by city and state officials became so painfully evident.

No matter what happens. No matter what the foul-ups. Domestically. Overseas. Economics. Wars. Terrorism. Hurricanes. It's always someone else's fault.

Amazing.

In related news:

Bush Administration fails to act.

Snow storm devastates the North-East. Where was George Bush? Where is FEMA?

"I wasn't able to go out and get my lottery ticket because George Bush did nothing about the snow! He knew it was coming and failed to act."

The predominantly white central US was spared the snow. Investigation to continue.

"Why is snow white?" asks the Reverend Al Sharpton, who is looking into this diversity question.

Bush administration implies State and Local governments are to blame. "Emergency assistance was not requested and proper channels must be adhered to.", quips White House sources.

Yet another display of the heartless Bush Administration. When will the American public finally realize that this country needs a president who cares.

This country needs a President. Period.

the finger pointing is still going on while there is still much to do.
it seems as though the pieces should be picked up, progress made, and n.o. (in whatever new form it takes on) brought back... then there'll be plenty of finger pointing to go around.
i do question the logic of building the same city on the same site and then expect different events to occur when another storm hits...

this is the pro life prez? show me one piece of proof, please... we'll talk.

Hey, give Bushie a break. He was in vacation mode, and didnt want any lil' ol' hurricane or the destruction of an entire US city to harsh his mellow.

New Orleans: Bushie got drunk there once.

New Orleans will recover nicely as soon as the federal "Faith-based Hurricane Recovery Plan" kicks in. The plan is based on group prayer and will kick in tomorrow. If not tomorrow, the day after. If not that day, the next ... you get the idea.

WADR, Rightisright, if one of your major cities is being pummelled by what looks like the biggest disaster to hit your country since the last major earthquake (San Diego?) then isn't it the federal gov'ts responsibility to make sure the other levels of gov't don't screw up?

The only person who was in control of the situation appeared to be Fidel Castro who immediately offered aid while Bush ate cake.

Bush got a photo-op and a golf game out of the deal. BushCo lined their pockets while Bushiting around.

I keep looking for muffin recipes, but nobody is posting them. What's this blog coming too? Sanity?

I think we are starting to see some of that 28% whittled down even further. Once Bushie hits his die-hard 20% or so, he will probably move to suspend congress and any elections.

All media outlets will then be turned over to foreign-owned NewsCorp, aka "Faux News", and they will then reveal why they are paying Halliburton to build concentration camps on abandoned military bases.

I think Southerners have learned the Republicans cannot be relied upon to act in the best interests of ordinary Americans. The last time Southerners shunned the Republican Party, they kept it up for over a century.

Snow storm devastates the North-East. Where was George Bush? Where is FEMA? Yet another display of the heartless Bush Administration. When will the American public finally realize that this country needs a president who cares.

Yeah, ain't it a bitch when the snow-levees fail.

while I may put it a little different way....the truth behind the statements are dead on correct and it is the self proclaimed "chocolate" mayor's fault for much of it, but does he get his own thread on the retort....hardly......

Leftnut,

I noticed that too. No muffins on the drudge retort. We used to hear a lot about them.

DOn't give me that Shit BLT FEMA Fucked Up Majorly. They knew a YEAR in advance that the Local and State folks would be overwhelmed during their Hurricane Pam excersize. No BLT This one is on FEMA deluxe.

Larry

larry
when a mayor can't carry out the evacuation plan he devised and can't deliver the goods that he has on hand to the place he told people to go-he has to take some of the blame fema is not responsible for first responders-fema screwed up cause it like the mayor didn't perform to it's own guidelines same for the governor-no-one did what they had planned to do in a case such as this
-the levies had not been built to specs
this is one off the few occasions where nothing was done right on any level-and this is what the report says
jasman

Yes, how dare the mayor of New Orleans not have billions of dollars on-hand to spend during such an event, or the equipment, supplies, and manpower needed to help people. Don't these mayors understand you cant rely some fairy-tale Federal Emergency Management Agency to just ride into town on a white horse and save everyone?

Next thing you know, Nagin will be telling everyone Santa Claus is bringing Christmas presents for everyone.
