Great headline RCADE...you're very punny!!

It was a spiritual victory.

Much more than a spiritual victory. Down from 72 points to 52 points. If that is the result in a heavily red area--think how it will be in the marginally red areas. She will have to run again next year. After a year of her record, I doubt that area will be red after 2006, especially when the voters know they can have a real representative, and not another rubber stamp.

In my humble opinion, Hackett is a one-in-a-million candidiate. Every bit a war hero as far as I'm concerned -- GOD BLESS HIM! -- and unafraid to let it fly on real, hot button issues, naming names (but not necessarily name-calling, which never works in thr long run, etc.

Most thinking Americans (L or R) believe that we should get our kids out of that rat hole of Iraq. NO ONE can install a "democracy" there. Period! There is ZERO gain for us. In fact it's all negative...i.e., American kids are dying(!) and for what?? Absolutely nothing at this point.

Hell, I (Conservative) might very well have voted for this guy myself (BTW...to my liberal "friends" here -- I have voted for two Dems in recent local elections).

Of course I don't know the rest of Hackett's political platform....

If he's in favor of issuance of drivers' licenses and tuition breaks to illegals; or preferencial admission to schools and jobs based SIMPLY on skin color; or if he argues against profiling of terrorists based on ethnicity...I'd actively campaign against him, for instance.

That being said -- there are probably NO other Dem candidates in the country with his unique background, and while his run was impressive, I doubt it can be used as a solid template for liberals in general.

Imagine, for instance... fools like Dennis Kucinich, or say, Al Sharpton, or Sheila Jackson, et al trying to use this method.

Dr. J

Oh, but the Republican Party is the party of IDEAS. You know, like invading Iraq and screwing up that country worse than it was?

The Republicans apparently have another IDEA. They will declare victory, bring the troops home, and blame the shift in Iraq from mere "disaster" to full "catastrophe" on....

Well, I don't know who they will blame it on, other than George Bush won't be on the list. Perhaps Zulu can help us here....

ah yes......more humorous reading....so predicatable.......look at all the leftistas rationalizing another defeat....
so funny....moral vicoties are for LOSERS and what bigger loser these days than the democratic party....

As I wrote on my weblog, I'm not ready to claim a victory in defeat, as a lot of the Dems seem to be doing this morning. We needed Hackett in Washington. Schmidt was an atrocious candidate linked to both the CoinGate crooks and the corrupt Tom DeLay. I was really rooting for a win here.

so are moral VICTORIES......damn computer

Why do these people all sound like whiney children? It is shocking that America is so divided with mentalities such as this. It is truly sad.

Schmidt ran an amateur campaign. Her campaign manager was a former grade school student of hers. She never expectde to win the primary, and once she did she didn't know what the hell to do. Hell, she didn't even return the calls of people trying to give her money! Any decent republican candidate would have trounced Hackett. I wouldn't read too much into the fact that the election was close.

Sorry, FOUR topics on Ohio.

You did not even give Kerry four topics at one time.

Understandably so.

Why not post another one about making yogurt in Minster or something? All Ohio, all Day.
Sort of a celebration of what could have been.

Hey look the Democrats are shoving out another John Kerry war hero! If you have seen his election commercial, he refuses to name his party in it. His commercial also has Bush in it, glorifying that he went to fight for the US, and that the soldiers 'get it'. Its a pro-war commercial, but yet he is anti-war? In his commercial he runs and sounds like a republican but does not specify a party affiliation. Pretty fucking sad if you ask me, when you have to fool the people to get them to vote for you.

Ohio race proves that dems can still lose.

The district had been so radically gerrymandered by Republican governors and legislators that it was all-but-unimaginable that a Democrat could ever be competitive there.

Pretty fucking sad if you ask me, when you have to fool the people to get them to vote for you.

Name a commerical in which the candidate states what party he is affiliated with.

Yay, we lost but not by much!!!

How sad.

Show me a moral victory and I'll show you a loss.

Show me a moral victory and I'll show you a loss

What are you babbling about now?

VISITOR 9:49

Are you stalking me? Are you obsessed with me? No, I won't mail you a pair of my underwear so stop asking.

Are you stalking me? Are you obsessed with me?

No just laughing at you. If the thoughts of a guy being obsessed with you give you a woody though, dream away. You seem to need something in your life anyway.

Serving as a PR Officer in a war zone does not make you a hero. His job wasn't even close to front line, i have a great deal of respect for people in the military but that doesn't mean everyone who serves is a war hero. Also he ran a campaign that announced nothing about him other than service, he even used bush in his ads and he failed to mention his party affiliation. How is that a victory? even a moral one? It's simple: you dems can't win as you are, you have to hide your identity in order to come close to beating us.

Pat

Well said, Pat.

To my stalker,

If you don't have anything on topic to say, please stop posting. You are annoying.

Dems can hack it if we cheat and scare white republican soccer mom voters into not voting. Leave messages on fron porches saying vigilantes will be watching them election day. Stating if they vote large hooded men will attack them or their kids. You have to keep republicans from the polls and fear will do it.

Jackass

To my stalker,

If you don't have anything on topic to say, please stop posting. You are annoying.

No.

The democrats will continue to lose elections just like this one. Even with the enormous failure of Iraq and a moron like Bush running, they still couldn't win. Running Hillary will only seal the dems' fate as a washed up party.

Joe,
You're such a lefty blah blah blah. You never have anything negative to say about republicans blah blah blah. You are a Bush cheerleader drool, blah, drool.
Headline should read "Even though Reps have consistantly dropped ball, Dems still can't find their asses with a flashlight and a map"...
If Hackett was a better candidate and I lived in the district then I'd vote for him. Reading through the 8,000 Hackett threads you'd think that if you're a republican that you MUST vote republican...Maybe that's why you guys come across as being so god damn dumb.

FACTS: Its tight all night long but Hackett is closing. With 88% of the precincts in and Hackett closing to within 800 there is suddenly an "overheated vote counting machine." Then the count continues and Schmidt takes over 80% of the remaining 12% of precincts. Diebold is at it again. Open your eyes.

HAHAHAH this Ohio story is genuinely absurd. No one ever thought a democrat could not only win but even compete in a gerrymandered district. Does anyone get this .... District 2 was manufactured to be a safe Republican seat. So now ... gee wiz ... a Republican WON !! WOWOWOWOWOWOW. Frankly, a brain dead or even physically dead Republican would probably have won this district. But what happened was more interesting then that. The Republican won by only 2 percent in a safe Republican district. Wow .. now that's what I call an important win.

Fellas ... for a gerrymandered district its a fantastic loss for Republicans. They don't make safe districts to win by this sort of margin and when that happens it means Republicans are not very happy these days. In my opinion they have good reason to feel the way they do. So OK you kept your district. And thats what was supposed to happen - but you barely did it and thats not what I'd call any sort of big win. Its a win no doubt but then again it was always supposed to be a win ever since your Republican governor redrew the district and jammed every damn Republican he could get into that new district so ... what are you all so happy about? That you kept the status quo just a little longer? Based on this election, and I do NOT base 2006 on this election, but if I did it would spell disaster for Republicans and a sure loss of the House. Just thought you all should know that.

Fellas ... for a gerrymandered district its a fantastic loss for Republicans...

GZ, you aren't very bright are you? The winner was a Republican, only you can find bad news for republicans when they win. Your mindset is not only psychotic, but it is so over played.

"Schmidt 59,095 votes (51.7%) to 55,091 votes (48.3%) for Hackett. Remarkably, in a district that favored George W. Bush over John Kerry by almost a 2-1 margin in 2004, "

Um republicans, uh oh.

Theo-logic

That took much longer than I thought. I expected Democrats to start crying that the Republicans had cheated immedately.

Hey storm,

No sweat, he ran as a republican, it just means its a good message, check out his commercial. Bwahahhahaha!!!!!!!!!

JMFJ

They did vis1047 that particular post is all over this thread and all the OH ones.

JMFJ

Only race a lib has a chance of winning in the next 15 years is a foot-race...

And even that is a stretch

And you Chair are in complete denial

Lets go through it one more time for people who can't get the obvious. Ohio D2 was a gerrymandered Republican safe district. Another words its designed for Republicans TO WIN. TO ALWAYS WIN. OK ? Do we have an understanding so far ? Rob Portman won 7 terms and normally by over 70% which was expected. Remember this was a Republican manufactured District to create a safe GOP seat. In the last election, the Republican won by 44% - that would be in case you can't understand those numbers - forty four percent. As it was supposed to be - NO SURPRISE.

Now .. in this election where you seem to be so happy about the Republican victory - in a District that they made, they designed to be safe for them - they won by 4 - that would be FOUR points.

CHAIR - This WAS a WIN for Democrats. Remember its a Republican designed District for Republicans to run safely in and so YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO WIN. AND YOU DID but by 4 points and at the cost of $500,000 by the way.

can you say ... handwriting is on the wall? The days of President Buffoon are coming to a crashing end.

GZ,
Let me walk you through a win...2 people compete, one will come out on top, that person was a republican. That means the democrat lost. Winning by 1% is a win, winning by 10% is a win, winning by 80% is a win. No matter how you stack it, the republican won.
The days of President "Buffoon" will come to an end on Jan 1 2008, and unfortunately for you and your ilk there is nothing you can do about it.

Now that chair has defined a win, I'm hoping GZ can explain to me what he means by the fact that this was a "Republican Manufactured" District.

GZ,
Before you break out the champagne, realize that Schmidt got lucky as hell to win the primary (the clear repub frontrunner completely imploded), and she had no idea what to do in the general election. She was as incompetent as they come, and even a strong, good-looking young democratic candidate couldn't pull out a victory.

Let's rehash: strong democratic candidate vs. extremely weak and incompetent republican candidate, and the republican still won. This is not a victory for the democrats; if a republican hadn't won the seat the repubs would have no one to blame but themselves.

Brainszero,
What??? Where do you live, Goofyland??? Neverneverland???
Are you a Chicago Cubs fan? "We only finished 10 games out this year; what a victory!"

Jean Schmidt will be the Congressperson from that district for as long as she wants the seat.

A few things you obviously are ignorant about concerning this election but that I know because I live right outside this district and have followed what has transpired. (1) The voter turn out was very low. About 25% (2) All five tax levies on the ballot passed. Tax levies in that district hardly ever pass. A sure sign that the conservatives did not vote in mass. (3) A Republican who ran against Schmidt in the primary, ran commercials saying that Republicans should stay home on election day and not vote. Have you ever heard of such a thing? This guy received 20% of the vote in the primary. (4) Jean Schmidt was a veritable unknown in Ohio politics. (5) "Hissssss"ackett did not in any of his ads say that he was a democrat. This is a fact. He propped himself up as a Marine and as a "conservative". He never mentioned that he was a democrat in any of his ads. FACT.

Victory for the dems???? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

With victories like these; the democrats don't need any defeats.

"With victories like this, the Democrats don't need defeats...."

Someone needs to review the meaning of "Pyhrric".

"The voter turnout was very low...."

This thing bothers you quite a lot, doesn't it?

"The conservatives didn't vote en masse...."

Whereas the liberals obviously got the vote out.

Can you beleive that Limbaugh tried to maligh Hackett? He said that Major Hackett, USMC was a "staff puke". That is scandalous.

"Staff puke....".

It would have been worse for Hackett if he had won the Infantryman's Combat Badge or Purple Heart in Iraq.

The greater the acheivement, the greater the need to destroy.

No Zed,

It would have been worse for him if he ran as a democrat.

JMFJ

That is scandalous.

The Democrat's favorite word, unless it's pointed at one of their own.

"Someone needs to review the meaning of "Pyhrric"."

What tragic cost was that??? Money??? The Repubs in that district got a whole pile of that left. Jean Schmidt will get reelected as long as she wants that seat. "Hisssss"ackett will be ordered back to Iraq by the end of the year. I missed your whole point. I am guessing because you had no point. You just wanted to use the word "pyhrric" in a post.

"The voter turnout was very low....This thing bothers you quite a lot, doesn't it? No. It is a statement of fact. The voter turnout was very low in a predominately conservative district. It was an off year election. That is not surprising.

"The conservatives didn't vote en masse....Whereas the liberals obviously got the vote out." Very true. The libs did a better job at getting their base out. The fact that every tax referendum passed is a sure sign of that. One of the tax levies, for your information and edification, has been on the ballot for the last four elections. It failed every time. However, the fifth try was the charm.

It serves this civilian-killer right. Dem or Repub, anyone who has been to war supports the killing of innocent civilians. The Marines in particular. I cannot believe anyone, particularly someone who claims to be "liberal" or "progressive" would vote for anyone who has been under arms in a country we have illegally occupied. That would be any country that we have military forces in.

Signed,
Vailed

"Hackett will be ordered back to Iraq within the year...."

Yes. And he'll go. And according to Rush Limbaugh he will still be a "puke".

"Pyhrric" just applies to winners. There's no such thing as a "Phyrric defeat". One of many things that go over your head.

Zediwckthedumbass,

Ahhhhh ... Another Zeddywicky prediction ... Yes. And he'll go.

I will lay you even odds today, Zeddy, that "Hissssss"ackett comes down with a case of "conscientious objectoritis".

You used the word, pyrrhic, and you don't even know what it means nor hwo to spell it!!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Ahem ... .Zeddy, pay attention and you might learn something today.

A Pyrrhic Victory is from the VICTORY of Pyrrhus over the Romans at Asculum. i.e. A VICTORY won at a staggering cost. Kind of the like the VICTORY Jean Schmidt had yesterday over "Hissssss"ackett.

Although, her victory was not at a staggering cost. I would describe it as easy and not much of a challenge. Kind of like a stroll in the park.

I've come to a True revelation, in this country we've become to separate worlds it is as if it is 1861 again.
This is like the North and The South we are at War with each other and for what?
Damn, what ever happen to the Damn "Issues"? What ever happen to Representatives that were for all of us and not fringe elements of The Republican and Democratic parties.

Students for Academic Freedom (SAF and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals(PETA)

What The Fuck Over!? Does anyone really want these Butt heads being the Core and representing all of your thought? For me Hell No !!!!

What ever happen to "Of The People,By the People, For The People?

What ever happen to politicians that were for the progression and advancement of America?
We have fallen victim to Polarizing Politics and have been Blinded by the Brightlight Of Bullshit. I truly could give a Flying Fuck if a politician is A Republican or a Democrat.
I supported Reagan and Clinton I thing they were both great, any human being can have failings, not because the are a Reb or Dem. We also have can all achieve greatness.
I myself would love for this Red State and Blue State Polarizing Horseshit to end and become Red, White, and Blue States. I understand that some polarizing issues are apparent and always have but are they to the point that you will Hate or deem Evil because someone is a Reb or a Dem? Has anyone ever stepped back and asked them self am I being manipulated by my party are these thing issue my Major and Only Concerns?
101, I don't know if you were in when the "Mission Risk Assessment Checklist" was started, but I'm sure you on your own in a leadership position. The concept is to evaluate your mission against, personnel, equipment, location, employment, weather, duration, safe areas,on and on, but then the "threat" You would take in all these variables and which all were rated by number. Then you would calculate it to come up with an acceptable Risk for success of you mission.
My point is looking at all the issues ratter than the fact that he is a Reb or Dem. It is not secret I'm far from being a Bush fan, but when he does something good I praise him, because if I came up with some Lame Ass excuse for why he did and it did not mean much, I would be not better than a ignorant dishonest hack.
I would love for America to focus once again what is good for All Americans and not being "Punked" by fringe elements.

-Sarge

Dear Lurch---

Sure, lay odds. It doesn't matter. Hackett could come back with the Medal of Honor, and he's still a "puke" to you and Limbaugh.

Not even a good try trying to save yourself on "Pyhrric". You misapplied the term. Be a man about it.

I'll take my difficulties spelling over your lack of classical learning any day.

You must thank God for Google. If you could remember what you search, you might eventually have an education.

Zed,

I thought Lurch effectively shot down your usage of the term 'pyhric'.

Would you mind clarifying for my simple mind how you were using the word. I am not attacking. I just want to better understand you POV.

"Hackett could come back with the Medal of Honor, and he's still a "puke" to you and Limbaugh."

Well these armchair chickenhawks like Rush would just say he didn't deserve the Medal of Honor, and faked his record, hates America, etc.

Zedwickthedumbass,

What the hell are you babbling on about now??? I misused the word "Pyrrhic"????!!!!

Here was my response to you ...

You just wanted to use the word "pyrrhic" in a post."

Where did I misapply it???? Hummmmmmm ... . Time for you, Zeddy, to be a man about it and admit that your "classical learning" and reading comprehension are a joke. And sadly, it's not even humorous.

It would have been worse for Hackett if he had won the Infantryman's Combat Badge or Purple Heart in Iraq.

The greater the acheivement, the greater the need to destroy.

Posted by Zed at 2005-08-03 12:10 PM | Reply

CIB=Combat InfantryMAN's Badge. They are awarded, not "won". The thing is Zed, he was a Civil Affairs officer (a REMF). They can not recieve the CIB. Whether or not Rush called him a name isn't the issue (how do you haters know so much about Rush, is there a talking ponts memo for all libs?). Fact remains that a REMF is a REMF. Staff Puke=REMF. Make an issue of it if you will, and of course those of you that have never donned a uniform will.

"They are awarded, not won...."

Hair-splitting semantics. You miss the point entirely.

The person making an issue out of "staff puke" is you and yours. "Brothers-in-arms"? Not for you, apparently.

Semantics to you, but not to the people that earned them.
It seems as though the only ones mentioning it are lefties and Rush. I ask again Zed, how do you freaks know so much about what Rush says? For hating him and his show you seem to tune in more than the right does.
Besides the semantics, it was another example of me showing you that you talk out of your ass every time you mention the military. Talk about what you know.
Hackett served, and I tip my hat to him for it. He was in longer than I was, has a higher rank than I do, and served in a combat zone. All of that being said he was a REMF (not a staff puke as I alleged earlier)...Staff pukes basically get picked by Generals and very well may have been combat veterans before their time at staff level.

Zed,
He was a Marine, he could never "receive"(Politically Correct) a CIB, only a soldier can. I the point of the thread is he did well against Formidable Odds. I use to be a Rush fan up until the early 90's, Rush has an "Us against Them" format and it has to be understood as such. So to take what he says without knowledge of it is like running around in circles, now I hate Attack Politics, being an informed person will enlighten you to the facts
only those who don't will fall victim.

101,
Is this still the correct criteria?:

www.americal.org

Sarge,
Funny enough, I forgot he was a Marine and that Marines don't get CIB's!
I listen to a segment on Rush MAYBE once every couple of months, or when I'm on road trips. I'd prefer lighter entertainment. I do get a kick out of his "EIB" network though (I earned my EIB as an E-2).

Oh he is like the World Wide Wrestling Federation!

Note the Republican talking points about this election: the Dems are lame for taking victory in defeat, Limbaugh was just describing Hackett with a common term the military uses (even though Rush was excused for a being a colon growth), the Republicans didn't spend that much money, Schmidt was obviously not as attractive as Hackett and that's why she lost so many votes...

I have never seen such sore winners.

Schmidt is obviously damaged goods to Republicans, like DeLay, and--ever since he publicly supported a true culture of life--like Bill Frist. I know I'm not the only one excited about voting in 2006! Texas needs a different poster boy in the House.

Which reminds me, Texas is turning blue as we speak. Hispanics recently became the majority in the state, and if you'll notice in the 2004 electoral breakdown, hispanic areas
tend to be heavily Democratic. Bush's immigration policies will only strengthen this trend. Not that I disagree with his support for some amnesty, but his actions are akin to Johnson handing the South to the Republicans with his support of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

STOPTHEBOX,

... and son of Achilles (four years of Latin here).

Dr. J

SOSI,

Hispanics are also....almost 100% Catholic, if the dems keep bashing religion as they are doing, you have an even smaller chance of winning anything in the near future.

JMFJ

Damaged goods SOS like the convicted of campaign law violations Pelosi? She sure hasn't had much to say lately. Damaged goods like her?

JMFJ

I am a registered Independent, not a Democrat--as I regularly vote for Libertarian and third party candidates--so please don't employ the pronoun "you" when referring to the Democratic party.

With that out of the way, could you explain to me exactly how Democrats "keep bashing religion"? I understand they believe in a woman's reproductive rights and freedom of religion, but those are wholly Constitutional issues. If anyone, Republicans have been unjustly dragging religion into the political battefield.

Hispanics are also....almost 100% Catholic, if the dems keep bashing religion as they are doing, you have an even smaller chance of winning anything in the near future.

That is untrue. The religious right never hides their hatred of Catholics. Catholics are usually the reasonable religious people, it is the Protestants that tend to go off the deep end. So long as the religious right exists, it will always be a repellant to Catholics. Try as they might, they always show that they are nothing more than crazy.

"Damaged goods SOS like the convicted of campaign law violations Pelosi?"

I don't seem to have heard about that. What's your source?

I never denied that there are corrupt politicians in every party; the Republicans just seem to have it down to an art.

Did someone mention that the libcom Hack lost ? Again , the libcoms sending the wrong message , criticize , no direction , always the problem , never the solution .

I just want to remind any of the rightwingers that stop on this site , to check the history books your children are being given in school , they defame Ronald Reagan , and make lard ass clinton sound like a hero , it is time for some uprisings and hold the worthless libcom publishers feet to the fire .It's time to get this filth , lies , and brainfucking out of our education system .

" .It's time to get this filth , lies , and brainfucking out of our education system ."

A sentence built by a public school graduate, no doubt. Note the poor punctuation and use pf vulgar language.
Now do you have a book title in mind?

just want to remind any of the rightwingers that stop on this site , to check the history books your children are being given in school , they defame Ronald Reagan , and make lard ass clinton sound like a hero , it is time for some uprisings and hold the worthless libcom publishers feet to the fire .It's time to get this filth , lies , and brainfucking out of our education system .

Here is a fine source to consider when discussing education. Greetings from Dogpatch.

Real nice move there, calling an Iraq war veteran a "libcom." I thought somebody named "Rightnut" would support our troops...

Yes, he lost, but by 40 fewer percentage points than he should have, and well within the bounds of stastical error, meaning this election could have gone either way.

The Democrats aren't being sore losers here, and since you can't attack them for that, you're calling a veteran names and bitching about school textbooks! That's exactly what I meant when I said "sore winners."

If you don't have a good counterargument, feel free to attack my spelling of the word "statistical."

Here is a fine source to consider when discussing education. Greetings from Dogpatch.

Translation: I haven't had anything to say on any subject.

Limbaugh is a "puke"!

Rightnut,
You know something don't be such a Fucking Dumb Ass.
Why Do You Jump Up And Down With Glee Like Some Kansas City Faggot?
This Man is a "Veteran" now if he said something you didn't like state it. Do you know what "His Issue Points were"?
I think not, What I do know is that we lost 21 Marines in the past 2 damn days.
This Man was there, where were you?
Rightnut you support Bush well here you go.
Please Do This Join The Marines If You Have Any Balls.

Make that a "fathead puke"! Send Limbaugh to Fallujah to head up civilian affairs there. I think he'll be better off for it. I know we all will be to get that fathead, unpatriotic SOB off the air for a while!

RightNut,

at least she is doing something for this country that is Leaps and Bounds more than you.

I know rightys do not do nuance but if one really looks at the dynamics of this race and current polls....2006 does not look promising....regardless of how you pontificate about a win being a win.

Hackett shows you call the president (you better believe little "p") what he is the people respond.

Now boxitch....a little help for your pathetic username plea, one word.....Vagisal.

Libertarianleft:

"Vagisal"

lol!!

Sorry Box..he got you!!

All of my fellow Republicans who are poo-pooing the closeness of the win in Ohio's 2nd district can learn something from politics here in Illinois. Rep Phil Crane had a lock on his district for 36 years, was 3rd higest ranking Republican in Congress when he was upset by a Democratic upstart by the name of Melissa Bean in 2004 in spite of George W. Bush receiving 55% of the vote in that district. In the same election, in my own district which is one of the most conservative in Illinois, my representative Henry Hyde had a close call but was re-elected with 56% of the vote which is down from his normal margin of 65% or more. But he fell into what we call the "25,000 vote rule". What is that? If an incumbent is re-elected by less than 25,000 votes they are considered to be "Dead Men Walking" and really likely to be upset in the next election or two. Same goes for newly elected representatives. If their victories are by less than 25,000 votes they are highly likely to not gain re-election to office in the next round of elections.
Because Henry Hyde fell below the magic 25,000 vote number, he is not running for re-election after 32 years representing my district. This makes for a real chance of a Democrat being elected to this seat for the first time in 34 years.

My, my. I see a little guilt-tripping squeezed out a little respect for a fellow serviceman.

From Chairborne, that is. His capacity to be shamed on the subject is the only real reason anyone should think he served anyplace.

There are bound to be other war veterans running for office as Democrats, or whatever. Bad wars create such candidates.

And, eventually, some really decorated veteran will run against a Republican. When this happens, we all know what nastiness to expect, because we've seen the drill before.

how typical..... I heard the rush comment and he did not call this guy a staffpuke. When talking about him to someone else in telling rush what hackett did....rush asked him if he was a staffpuke and the man said yeah...sort of.....thats different than calling him one directly. This is a term that rush heard people calling themselves when he was in iraq. It is typical that liberals claim he called him a name when he really didnt. But what do I know...I'm just an ignorant redneck.

and on the subject itself.......

as RUSH said yesterday.....the democrats cant win when they tell the truth and now they cant win when they lie and hide thier true identity......yep..that dean guy has sure brought them a long way....

but you know me......uh......duh....uh uh uh....

"The Republicans didn't show up and vote against somebody. They didn't show up and vote for Hackett. They stayed home."

"There are moderates running Ohio in the GOP, and a lot of the conservative voters who sent them into office are unhappy with them and this is what happens."

As usual RUSH has it right on.

Bushlover:

If Rush told you to jump off a cliff, would you??

Typical mom question...had to ask!!

baby....after your posts of yesterday, I would do anything for you !

smooch....smooch......slurp...
XXX/KKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

Same old drivel..day after day...not one Rush ditto head would have the guts to trade places with Hackett in Iraq, the guy you and your chickenhawk leaders so easily denigrate. Apparently you only support Republican troops...such cowards...such hypocrites.

From Washington Post

"Former House speaker Newt Gingrich (Ga.) warned fellow Republicans yesterday not to ignore the implications of the party's narrow victory in Tuesday's special election in Ohio, saying the public mood heading into next year's midterm elections appears to helping Democrats and hurting Republicans.

"It should serve as a wake-up call to Republicans, and I certainly take it very seriously in analyzing how the public mood evidences itself," Gingrich said. "Who is willing to show up and vote is different than who answers a public opinion poll. Clearly, there's a pretty strong signal for Republicans thinking about 2006 that they need to do some very serious planning and not just assume that everything is going to be automatically okay."

""The Republicans didn't show up and vote against somebody. They didn't show up and vote for Hackett. They stayed home." "

Yeah they stayed home because of the Republican corruption - the rare coin scam with all the pension funds, Iraq, Bush . . the whole rotten bunch

or maybe they didnt show up because they had no one to vote for, which may be what you are saying. What we are saying is that even with a lesser candidate and with the democrat posing as a republican, they still cant win...

GZ and Justsomeguy conveniently choose to use O'Rielly and Newt as examples when they say something they agree with. If anyone on the right used something from them they would be laughed at.
Good job ladies.

"baby....after your posts of yesterday, I would do anything for you !"

REALLY???? I'm just going to put this in my back pocket for awhile and think on it. However..dumping the Republican party comes to mind as an interesting request...

Staff Puke: Rush Didn't Slight Hackett One Bit

August 3, 2005

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Give me line five. We've got a liberal on the phone. We always put them on first. Hello, Eric, in Columbus, Ohio. Nice to have you.

CALLER: Hey, Rush, you need to apologize, man. I can't believe you did what you did to Hackett yesterday. It's just reprehensible calling him a "staff puke," and spending an hour on the show (Rush's coverage: story | story) clearly indicates that the Republicans are in trouble, and they are in trouble in Ohio, and I was on the ground and saw it.

RUSH: All right, I'm having a little trouble hearing you. You say they're in trouble, and in trouble in Ohio? You were on the ground and saw it?

CALLER: Yeah, sure enough, I saw some Republicans that voted for Hackett, and absolutely not -- Hackett didn't hide behind any false pretenses. He called the President of the United States an SOB and chicken hawk, much like yourself, and to call him a staff puke? You just really need to apologize for it.

RUSH: Now wait a second.

CALLER: You called him a staff puke.

RUSH: Wait a second.

CALLER: Did you call him a staff puke?

RUSH: Yeah, I called him a staff puke. I'll call him a staff puke today.

CALLER: He was on the ground at Fallujah.

RUSH: You had better go talk to people in the military if you want to know what staff puke means. They call each other that. Do you know what Marines call each other? They call them grunts. What if I'd have called him a grunt yesterday? You clueless liberals would have thought I was assuming a lot of things and insulting him. Staff puke, the term has been used by other military people to me. It means person. He's a staff puke, because that's what a Navy officer was telling us on the phone. We got the seminar callers who are out there reading all this off the websites because I saw this last night. So now what's this guy doing? Is he blaming me? I ought to apologize? Because of me yesterday Hackett lost? Is that what he's trying to say? Republicans were in trouble, and then they brought me in to squash Hackett. (Big sigh.) It's nice to know that despite all the things they write about how I'm a loser, how I have lost it, how I'm fading away, they still blame me for their losses. I'll be glad to take the credit. You know what? It was my intention to defeat this guy yesterday, and you know why, Eric? Because he's a fraud. I haven't lied about one thing in my life about my history, my past. This guy was a fraud throughout this campaign. He's an ultra-liberal. He is a man who thinks the president is the most dangerous guy in the world. He's called him an SOB, and he runs a campaign ad trying to make himself out to be Bush's best buddy and one of Bush's biggest supporters? The guy couldn't run as an honest liberal. The guy couldn't run on his real platform: raising taxes and weakening this country, growing the government. He wouldn't dare run on that. The lesson you need to take away from this, Eric, is you guys can't win as frauds, and you cannot win being honest about who you are and I'll tell you something else. If a radio talk show host (and I love this) can beat you guys, you are in deep doo-doo. But you're going to have to get your story straight. Either I'm fading away; I'm on decline and I don't matter anymore, or I'm responsible for your defeats. Which is it?

"A woman, I might add, who will win this election, I predict, by more than 20% of the vote."

Oops, looks like Itchy Box should stay out of the prediction business, at least as far as margins are concerned:

"In a race watched by the nation, Republican Jean Schmidt beat out Democrat and Iraq war veteran Paul Hackett 52 percent to 48 percent.

"That was a surprisingly narrow margin in a district where President Bush won with 64 percent in November and former Rep. Rob Portman regularly garnered 60 percent to 70 percent of the vote."

Air America Keeps Poor Kids Waiting

After promising to pay back a nearly $1 million "loan" it obtained from a South Bronx community group that services poor children, the liberal radio network Air America now says the organization will have to wait for its money.

"We are waiting for direction from investigators on how to proceed," an Air America official told the New York Post on Wednesday - referring to a New York City Department on Investigations probe into "inappropriate transcations" by the group in question, the Gloria Wise Boys and Girls Club.
The news didn't sit well with Gloria Wise spokeswoman Matta Rose, who complained to the paper: "Air America reached a legal agreement to have the [Gloria Wise] loan repaid in full."

The trouble started last year when former Gloria Wise development director Evan Cohen allegedly persuaded club officials to make the suspect $875,000 loan.

Cohen, it turns out, also helped found Air America - but left the network a month after its start amidst a wave of funding problems.

After first denying any responsibility, the new owners of Air America promised the refund on Friday, in a statement still posted to the network's Web site:

"We are very disturbed that Air America Radio's good name could be associated with a reduction in services for young people, which is why we agreed months ago to fully compensate the Gloria Wise Boys & Girls Club as a result of this transaction."

Top Air America talker Al Franken hasn't had much to say on the air about the Gloria Wise "loan" - but he went out of his way to trash Cohen in an interview Tuesday in the New York Sun.

Franken recalled that when Air America was launched in March 2004, Cohen told the staff they had enough funding to survive for three years without making a profit.

"It turned out to be three weeks," Franken lamented. "We were all shocked."

Franken said Cohen often cited health problems to explain why funds had dried up, recalling that when studio equipment wasn't working, Cohen would say, "You know, I have brain cancer."

"Brain cancer seemed to be his answer to everything." Franken complained.

Attempts by the Post and Sun to reach Cohen have been unsuccessful.

In its Friday statement, Air America said that because Gloria Wise is now under investigation, it was severing all ties to another Gloria Wise project, Camp Air America.

"We have offered any individuals who contributed to the camp as a result of Air America's promotion the option of a refund paid for by Air America Radio and the Club offered the alternative option of having their donation redirected to Kip's Bay Boys and Girls Club," the statement said, claiming that both Camp Air America and Gloria Wise had been closed.

But five days later, the Gloria Wise Web site is still up and running - and still touting Camp Air America while soliciting contributions in the name of the network.

Air America listeners are invited to sponsor an array of activities by offering donations of $35 to $750. The larger donation is supposed to pay for "a life changing week" at Camp Air America for two children from the same family.
