Michelle Malkin: "The First Lady resorting to horse masturbation jokes is not much better than Whoopi Goldberg trafficking in dumb puns on the Bush family name."

Just because 2 people share political leanings, does not mean they will agree on all issues. I thought Laura's horse cock joke was hilarious, as did my wife. That being said, I am sure more than just Malkin found the joke to be offensive. Way off topic - I would love to see a thread about the Professor who wrote a book trashing Bill Cosby for his comments regarding the inner-city black community. Anybody care to hijack the thread? I'd love to hear some of your thoughts on the subject.

Anything to change the subject, eh Jeff? Michelle Malkin just got some free publicity by breaking her loyalty oath ever so slightly. She may have also missed a couple of doses of Rovian kool-aid. Doesn't she get that Georgie's approval ratings are on a par with Anne Coulter's integrity? Lower than Murphy's panties after a couple of gins? Georgie NEEDS Laura to bail him out since the War on Social Security and the Iraqi Civil War are going so badly.

"Eyebrows were raised by the first lady's bit about the president's ranching skills, which Mrs. Bush said her husband lacked because the elite schools he attended, Andover and Yale, "don't have a real strong ranching program." She then added: "He's learned a lot about ranching since that first year when he tried to milk the horse. What's worse, it was a male horse." " Rather inane, eh?

WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN. WON'T SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!"-Mrs. Lovejoy, Simpsons Now why is this ok with the so-called Moral Majority? Personally, I found it funny, but I think the president jerking off a horse would be hard to explain to children. If Janet Jackson caused so much of a rucus and she is only a singer, what should we tell our children about the married first lady going to strip clubs, her husband masterbating a horse, and her being a "despatate housewife"? I have no problem personally with these jokes, but it does show a glaring loophole in their morality. Do as we say, not as we do.

"She may have also missed a couple of doses of Rovian kool-aid." I see. So when one republican agrees with another republican, they are "lemmings," "sheep," "partisan hacks," etc. But when one republican disagrees with another republican, they simply "missed a couple doses of kool-aid." Can republicans ever get any credit, or at least escape the constant bashing from all of the liberal pricks with nothing better to do than knit-pick someone's reaction to a joke?

You know, I really felt that Malkin was over-reacting. However, when I read the entire article, her point did have some merit. I still think she needs to lighten up a bit. However, she is hot so I will cut her some slack. Perhaps she needs to spend an evening with Joe Soap. She'd probably end up being a bit more relaxed, although she'd be walking kind of funny.

This Malkin person needs to lighten up. She even complains about that South Park episode that was beeped 162 times when in fact the show was: 1) making fun of shows like NYPD Blue that use swearing to attract viewers (and the people who tune in just to hear "ass" on TV) and 2) saying that curse words should be reserved for rare occasions. Kanrei - How do you explain the horse joke to a kid? One of two ways: "Its funny because he thought you can milk a horse and you can't" or "Its a joke for grown ups". Every time a small child demands an explanation over something, we don't have to give to them. I'm not saying you're guilty of this, but it seems like alot of parents today are afraid to say no to their kids and its creating a generation of little jerks.

Malkin's envious of Coulter and trying some way to open the door a crack and get some of that cash ... know what I mean. I love Laura Bush. she's his only redeeming quality as far as I'm concerned. She's got the sweetest sounding voice and I can't get enough of her accent. The routine she did was incredible and the writer should really take a bow because he gave her the perfect lines for her voice and natural character.

Kanrei, It was all pretty funny, especially coming from Laura. Malkin was right when she said.... "And let's face it: If Teresa ("I'm cheeky!") Heinz Kerry had delivered Mrs. Bush's First Lady Gone Mildly Wild routine, social conservative pundits would be up in arms over her bad taste and lack of dignity." My question is, does this qualify as PULING HYPOCRACY?, not so much from Laura, but from her religious rightwing Rovian joke writers.

Laura made fun of the fact that George goes to bed early, doesn't like to read, can't pronounce nuclear, isn't good in bed and once jerked off a horse. Here's what David Corn wrote about the event:
(I wondered how social conservative leader James Dobson, who was scheduled to be at the dinner, reacted.) It was not hard to figure out why the White House decided to have Laura upstage George. Her approval rating is almost twice his, and his number--in the mid-40s--are at a record low. But an HBO routine? Afterward, both Al Franken and Bill Maher were complaining that they could not have gotten away with that horse joke.

Anybody who has spent any time at all at a farm or ranch has heard that joke run into the ground. And it's not a masturbation joke unless you want to make it one. It's a cityslicker joke. Given the occasion, I thought her little routine was about as good as she could do. A little self-deprecating humor goes a long way. I read one shrill clown who criticized her because she wasn't 'honoring her husband'. I believe their is more sympathy than antipathy toward her. BTW: I liked the chainsaw one better.

I thought Laura did a good job of reading her lines which were written by someone else. She looked great too and it seemed to me that the crowd lover her routine. Michelle Malkin is apparently some right wing commentator that I am not aware of and after reading her comments I don't see anything to make me start bothering. One thing she said though was so hilarious: ""Heritage Foundation president Ed Feulner called on his audience to resist the coarsened rhetoric of our time: "If we are to prevail as a free, self-governing people, we must first govern our tongues and our pens. Restoring civility to public discourse is not an option. It is a necessity." The Heritage Foundation's basic principles are obscene no matter how polite the language that expresses them is. Mr. Feulner is obscene. Did I say that civilly enough???

Theocracy Watch: More Americans are Getting on Board the Jesus Land Express
New Poll: Americans Warming to Theocracy A new poll reveals that Americans are steadily warming to the idea of replacing the nation's highly-touted democracy with a theocracy, in which a handful of religious leaders make decisions for all citizens based on divine guidance. 46% want to replace Electoral College with 'Electoral Conclave' By Deanna Swift WASHINGTON, DC"A poll released this week reveals that Americans are steadily warming to the idea of replacing the nation's once highly-touted democracy with a theocracy, a form of governance in which a handful of religious leaders lead on the basis of divine guidance. The release of the poll's findings follows weeks of round-the-clock religious programming on cable news channels, comes on the heels of the selection of a new Pope, and indicates that Americans may finally be tiring of the separation between church and state. Do you believe? The poll, based on 2,130 telephone interviews conducted between Friday and Tuesday, found that 62% of Americans now believe that God intended for the United States to be a theocracy, while 23% said that they had no opinion on the matter or were unable to answer polling questions because they were currently attending a Christian church service or were watching such a service on television. A further 14% said they either belonged to or had given money to the ACLU at least once in their lifetime.

Even though you were the only one to comprehend what Dump was doing, somehow you still found Dumpling's apporach vulgar, hostile and counterproductive to his ultimate goal, yet you found Soap's post (and previous rantings of his) somehow funny and "poingant." The characterization of Soap's vitrol as "mirth" just about blew my mind. Cosby and I are VERY dissapointed in you young man.

While, "mirth" was a poor choice of word. Soapy delivered his prejudiced view with sarcastic humor, but it didn't change the underlying tone of what he was saying. If you remember, once I figured out what Dumpling was doing, I changed my tone, big time. I complimented the cleverness of his approach and pointed out the irony in what he said, which Jiffy eloquently expanded on. You and Cosby have NOTHING to be disappointed about in that particular exchange. BTW - I read the link and pretty much agree with Cosby's take. What say you?

I grew up in the country as well, and that joke is one about how ignorant city-slickers are, not about masturbation. The fact that Malkin, et al. (including everyone here) immediately thought she was talking about masterbation shows that the joke still has legs: Everyone in the urban areas are up in arms about this, while the rural folk are shrugging their shoulders and yawning over an old joke.

Um, in case you guys haven't figured it out:
A few minutes ago, the Drudge Report briefly linked to an article from The Swift Report entitled, "Conservative Christians Not Laughing at First Lady's Comedy Act." Upon reading that, I immediately suspected that something was amiss, so I did a few easy Google searches and quickly discovered that the "Coalition for Traditional Values" does not exist, and "Roy DeLong" is actually just a recurring (presumably fictional) character in the Swift Report's satires of the Religious Right, including such articles as "Bush Blasts Homosexual Energy Agenda" and "SpongeBob Denies Reports that He's Gay." Drudge has since taken the link down, but Andrew Sullivan is still linking to it.

The people attacking Bush's 'manliness' need to get out more. In many cultures it is perfectly acceptable for same-sex hetero pairs to hug, stroll arm-in-arm or even with their arm on the other's back. Nobody thinks anything of it. Jeff, Ok I'll talk with you about this, but I'm leaving if soapy shows up. Coz has lived just about every aspect of the spectrum of black american existence. He was not born a millionare. He lived his youth in urban Philly in the 1940's. He's a navy man, and earned an athletic scholarship to Temple. He (side by side with Sidney P) pioneered positive black images in the media in the midst of the "blaxploitation" pimps, prosiutes and pushers era. The guy has the credibility to say pretty much anything he wants to his brothers and sisters. It is important to recognize that Cosby's criticism was not a broad generalization, but was directed at those whom it applies to. When you know the difference, and CARE about the fortunes of those you are criticizing you have the credibility to make such distinctions and "nuance." The professor who has "so harshly" criticized Coz, has actually said much of Cosby's commentary was applicable. The crux of his arguement is that those who have succeeded in spite of their environments and those who have successfully PARENTED within these enviornments have done so not becuase they are necessarily of better charcter, or "pulling their weight better" but because they were given the tools do so. He makes good points. I tend to land on the Cosby side, but only slightly. People who are choosing self destructive paths through ghettos and poverty have personal responsiblity for their actions. At the same time, people need guidance and support to improve themselves and their station. There is no such thing as "pulling yourself up by your bootstraps." The "self made man" is a myth. Everyone gets varying degrees of support, guidance, education and role models. Someone either gave you the boots, or showed you how to wear them. The middle class (black or white) has a tendancy to forget just how much good guidance and support they receive. Coz' points are valid and the critics points are valid. That some desire this conflict of viewppoints be seen as a "liberal dogfight" for media consumption just makes me glad that black politics have become irrelevant to the mainstream culture.

And now you've done it, got me defending both Bushes on the same thread. Sanguine, It wasn't that obvious from the article on Laura supposedly being taken to task for her jokes that the site itself was a joke (even Matt Drudge fell for it for a short time!). If you had read the article on the theocracy poll stats though, you would have picked up on it.
Posted by Gal_Tuesday at 2005-05-04 02:49 PM | Reply | Flag: Flag: (Choose)FunnyNewsworthyOffensiveAbusive| IP
While, Where I had a problem with the professor was his insinuation that Coz wasn't qualified to comment on the strife. That was just wrong IMO. I agree about the self-made man....It's not a complete myth, but it's extraordinarily rare. I do think Gangsta rap has been a bit of a detriment to the black community. I certainly don't advocate any form of censorship, I just wish the black community would shun some of the bile that's being spewed by some of these rappers. What I liked most about Coz's statements were those of parenting and personal responsiblity. He essentially said, "Screw the victim mentatlity and do something with your life."

"if a "liberal" had made fun of Dubya's fake Texan schtick, and pointing out his effete eastern background, the conservatives would be howling." "Why is Bush so hostile to the idea of gay marriage? Perhaps because until 1987, George W. Bush was gay. According to a group of 29 Yale classmates who comprise Gay Ivy Leaguers for Truth, Bush was "known to be at least sexually experimental throughout his time in college." One of Bush's alleged former boyfriends, Anthony Berusca (class of '70), told The Dallas Morning News that Bush was "deeply conflicted about being gay, even somewhat self-hating." Berusca is convinced that this conflict led to Bush's drinking problems, but describes the President as a "gentle, caring lover". In 1986, the Bush family arranged for George to join Worthy Creations, a church group in El Paso that focuses on converting homosexuals through faith. A year later, Bush claimed to be straight, born again, and engaged to Laura Welch (Kitty Kelly in THE FAMILY wrote that Bush's twin daughters were not his offspring, but from a donor at a fertility clinic). Bush at all-male Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts was "head" cheerleader. Drama club and cheerleading are where the gay boys hang out. George earned the nickname Lips Bush for his skill at giving blow jobs to his fraternity buddies, according to Kitty Kelley. Bush has gay-style excrement nick names for the people he hangs out with: "Turdblossom" term for Karl Rove Note the classic juxtaposition of the obscene with the feminine to come up with a nickname for a gay man. For example, the late David Lewis went under the name Sally Suckemsilly. "Bulldog" term for both Victor Ashe and Jeff Gannon aka Jim Gluckert "Pooty Poot" term for Vladimir Putin, Russian President. Jeff, I posted a spiel on Gangsta Rap some time ago. An unforutnate confluence of youth buying power, mass marketing to an adolecent male consumer, and the social costs and violence of a drug epidemic/prohibition/black market (see Chicago 1920's) brought to our shores by our Banana Republic cold war allies. Yes, gangsta rap has not been a positive influence on black americans, but it is just another manifestation of the out of control consumerism that has compromised the value systems of many quarters of American culture. This concept of "victimhood" I take with a grain of salt. Yes there are those who lack the eloquence to describe there circumstances and the path to those circumstances with any more depth than "the man holding me down" but there is a greater dynamic at play. It is impossible for those living in truly desperate circumstances not to be aware of how far first base is from home plate. For them to notice that those who begin life on first base are now beyond the horizon is not some phychological weakness know as "victimhood." In my opionon it is evidence of their remaining hope. Victimhood is our middle class perjorative for those who we have left behind. It is our way to forget just how much help we've had and how many handouts we've taken along the way - from family, friends, society, church etc. And how we are failing to provide guidance support and "boots" for those who come next. Bill, unlike many middle and upper class "poor bashers" has provided quite a few pairs of boots in his day. Rather than diagnosing them with a "condition" I think Coz was demanding better from those who were capable of hearing his message. Any parent with a child in an orange jumpsuit who knows what quality parenting is and knows they failed to provide it should answer the call because odds are they've got another one in the oven. The one's who don't even know that first base is out there anymore really are "victims." Schizophrenics generally don't know that they are crazy. The truly hopeless poor/marginalized/criminalized don't even have a concept of a different life. How do we lay blame at their feet for not achieving it? I really don't know what the answer is for them.

WHILE THE GETTING IS GOOD Good job of un-over-simplifying the problems of the poor, especially youth. It is so easy, and I have seen it so, so, so many times, for those who grew up in at least middle class surroundings to judge those who grow up in surroundings that are like war zones. How many of the middle class kids actually see someone die from a gun shot wound, right on the street, right in front of their house. How many of them have had to try to be positive about school in an environment that punishes positivity. Of course you will get a lot of criticism from righties for dignifying "victims" but it was a great post.

just another example of "victimhood", and one I find the most disgusting, is this current trend of "majority as victim". It has always been around, of course, but it is heavily prevalent how, since it forms the base of Busche's Fox News propaganda arm- namely, what John Stewart aptly labeled "the rage of the franchised". If I hear any more whining about how bad the poor little rich people have it, or about how hard the 'white man' has it, my head is going to explode. And before all the idiots start whining, I am an very long unemployed white adult male. I have ten years of very good experience in a technical field, and have been unemployed for almost two years. But you dont hear me blaming affirmative action or immigrants or whatever for my problems. Could I have tried harder or done things differently? Of course. But life is a series of decisions, some good and some bad. My continued unemployment is partially the result of my bad decisions, and partially just a bad job market over which I have no control. Rather than express jealousy over those who are getting hired or still employed, I focus my energy into learning what Im doing wrong and into self improvement. Yes, the President doesnt give a shit about keeping Americans employed. Life is rough, but that isnt an excuse. It is, however, a reason why one of Ken Lay's long time friends shouldnt be 'leading' (and i use the term loosely) our country.

Danni, Thanks I'm a spoiled middle class kid, who easily could have been one to turn my back, but I was RAISED to think of those less fortunate with dignity and respect. Now I volunteer with youth poverty programs and gang interevntion and I see firsthand just how great are the giants upon whose shoulders I stand. BTW, I've owed you an apology for some time. When I first started reading and posting here I assumed this was a friendly enviornment with plenty of respect to go around. From that context, I misread all the misogynist and homophobic comments directed your way as "all in good fun. " I participated in the poor behavior myself in early posts thinking it was fun loving "we all like girls" humor. As I read the blog over the following weeks I learned it was NOT. You put up with a hell of a lot here and it takes character to wade through all that abuse. You have my respect for that if nothing else. I apologize for subjecting you to my own prejudices and poor understanding of the hostilities you stand in defiance of.

Someguy, Chris Rock did a great routine on affirmative action. AfirmAaction is not affecting white or black A & B students. AA is about what happens to everybody's C students. White C students have "Legacy" minority (and women) C strudents have Afirmative Action. Affirmative Action opens the doors for our C students to be the manager of Starbucks. LEGACY opens the doors for their C students to be PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. Goodnight DC!!!!

I certainly enjoyed Laura's scripted comedy routine because she made dubya look like an emasculated horse's ass who doesn't have much interest in sex with women. What I don't understand is why any man would encourage his wife to publicly humiliate him. At least she didn't make him look as asinine as he appeared last year with his "still searchin' for those doggone WMDs" routine.

I'm testing my new theory- I am presently the owner of a fake news website. My theory is that Liberals will cite any source that tells them what they want to hear, and that my website will become famous among Liberal media over time. I obviously won't share the name of the website for at least a few months, I'm just letting you know that it's out there. Stay tuned...

Zat- I'm not sure there if you're trying to insult me or encourage me, but I'm not trying to 'get rid of' anyone. I want the Liberal media to continue their habit of citing any source that supports their position, no matter how unsubstantiated. The only difference between my news and the 'news' published by other Liberal websites is that I'm only kidding. In fact, rumor has it that a rather well-known liberal media outlet has latched on to my site already- this is really going to be fun. This is the last you'll hear me mention this for quite some time- I want to see how far I can take it...

While, Yes I realize affirmative action is just replacing one method of rewarding meritlessness with another. There was a very interesting study (was it by Harvard?) in the past six months or so which studied the recipients of A.A. benefits. They were NOT the lower/middle class people who they were designed to give a "leg up" for. Rather, they were being used by affluent minorities and wealthy foreign immigrants who used it as a way to spend Government money rather than their own, and to get preferential treatment in the job market (translation- a cushie job). So yes, like many things comedians (and especially people like Rock and Chappelle) say, it pokes fun at the absurdity of the actual truth. Small wonder "The Daily Show" is ranked as more relevant and factual than anything Fox News or CNN put forth. Rather than dumbing down or making a bland product, they revel the stupid decisions being made every day. Why bother writing jokes when the jokes practically write themselves?

Boyd, I looked up Post modernism before I replied and it didn't seem to make any sense in this context, which is why I called your insult meaningless. I already knew what perjorative meant. Your insult was too vague for my slightly dense mind to properly comprehend, which is a shame because I probably would have found it funny if I 'got' the context in which it was being applied.

Well, from what I hear, some Liberals are getting mad at the term 'Star Trek Liberal' because it suggests that all Liberals are science fiction geeks that still live with their parents. The rich, successful Liberals (Whoopie Goldberg, Bruce Springsteen, and Rosie O'Donnell) are breaking off from the mainstream Liberal movement to combat the stereotype- they have reportedly identified at least 11 people so far who are outside of this false stereotype.

I am also sorry that because I don't share your worldview on all issues you view that as me living in a world of spin. I got news for ya, not everybody is going to share your worldview on all issues. Doesn't make them a dumb lemming (I am not talking about me) it just means their conclusions regarding a set of facts differ from your own. What do you expect me to do: Blindly accept your version of events 100% because you are apparently so much smarter than I? (You probably are smarter, but that's beside the point) THAT would be living in a world of spin - YOURS.

Jeff J.- My comment was specific to the Frank Cotton website bit. I expect you to disagree with me -- and for valid reasons involving interpretation of agreed upon facts. What troubles me is the trend I see whereby people simply dismiss, eg, the findings of the CDC or of Bush's own climatologists merely because the NYT actually wrote an article about it.

Uh, OK Boyd. I'll sum it up this way: I have core values and beliefs that will NEVER change. When I look at or analyze events, the analysis is based upon the factual evidence at hand. My 'views' regarding 'issues' are in a constant state of flux as new facts and evidence manifest. I apply skepticism to everything I read and refuse to blindly buy into what I am reading. So, my values are uncomprimising, but my interpretation of events are subject to change as I acquire new information. I eagerly await your next perjorative.

What about Laura's bit on Lynne Chenney's new Secret Service code name being "dollar bill" after visiting Chippendale's. Being the wife of multi-billionaire Halliburton boy Cheney, she ought to at least earn the Secret Service code name "thousand dollar bill" when she stuffs her hand deep down the skimpy thong of some male Chippendale stripper. I mean after having to stuff her hand down to search for Dick Cheney's dick all these years, you'd think she'd be more than thrilled and grateful to now get the chance to have her hands down the tiny thong of a Chippendale stipper and at least give the guy more than a lousy buck or two. Hmmmmm. New Secret Service code name --"dollar bill" Lynne -- all those billions and she's a cheap tipper?

Jeff J was quoted as saying "I do think Gangsta rap has been a bit of a detriment to the black community. I certainly don't advocate any form of censorship, I just wish the black community would shun some of the bile that's being spewed by some of these rappers." I have to agree that this crap (gangsta rap) certainly doesnt send the best message, but think about this, according to the RIAA, 80% of all 'rap' is purchased by white, suburban youth. Remember, you can't spell CRAP without RAP.
