Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Mike Allen, Axios: Republicans close to the White House fear that yesterday's revelations could take President Trump into a legal or constitutional realm where his staff and supporters can't save him. "A whole new door has opened," said a well-known Republican operative who has worked hard to help the Trump White House. "A week ago, we were talking about the agenda grinding to a halt," the Republican said. "Now, the train is going down the hill backwards." More officials are likely to need lawyers, and could face subpoenas for texts and emails off personal devices. They could be asked questions like: "Did the president ever talk about this in your presence?" ... "Were you in the room?" ... "Is there a record?"

"America First Movement"

What a collection of pathetic, dangerous squirrels.

"SABOTAGE"

Release Donald's finances and see how many supporters he retains.

"Trump's campaign sent supporters a fundraising email yesterday"

I told them I would donate when he released his tax returns when they called.

More officials are likely to need lawyers...

Welcome to TrumpLandia.

Land of the lawyers.

The Donald has done gone and messed with the wrong bull.

Now he is about to get the horn.

On the contrary, Comey's revenge, or what I prefer to call justice being done, has just begun.

Let's not rule out the possibility that some around Trump may be in legal jeopardy too. Didn't some of the Watergate defendants recently tell Trump staffers to lawyer up?

At least one said that it was too late for Donald's people already.

Early in the Trump presidency I remember rumors that Team Trump were using a private email server rather than the WH email system. If so, I can't wait for that puppy to be subpoenaed.

They are in more danger than Trump. Nixon did not serve one day in jail. Many in his staff did.

In the aftermath of Richard Nixon's resignation, 40 government officials were indicted or jailed

Yup...Wouldn't that be ironic?

That's what the people are saying. I would never say that myself, of course, but many people are saying it...so it must be true.

"In the aftermath of Richard Nixon's resignation, Watergate continued to claim victims.
The final toll included:

one presidential resignation
one vice-presidential resignation – although Agnew's crimes were unrelated to Watergate
40 government officials indicted or jailed"

Trump's administration is going to turn on him to avoid jail, he's screwed.

Two instances that I remember...

Trump better fight like the devil to beat that impeachment because if not, it's anybody's guess what this investigation will turn up for when he becomes a private citizen. I'm thinking international money laundering and Manafort singing like a canary.

We all know how that works.

I'm also thinking that Flynn should be looking for a country without an extradition treaty.

Will certainly make for some awkward bedroom scenes at the Kushner household. Will Jared and Ivanka go down together? Someone in the room knows what it's like to have a parent behind bars. Ethics rules only cost one a job--crime can cost one freedom and fortune...
