Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Friday, April 21, 2017

Hawaii's congressional delegation fired back at Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Thursday for saying that a federal judge who blocked President Donald Trump's immigration order hailed from "an island in the Pacific." ... "I really am amazed that a judge sitting on an island in the Pacific can issue an order that stops the President of the United States from what appears to be clearly his statutory and Constitutional power," Sessions said in a radio interview with conservative Mark Levin on Tuesday. ... [H]is apparent belittling of the 50th state, which caught wind on social media, prompted Hawaii's Congressional delegation to fire back. "Mr. Attorney General: You voted for that judge. And that island is called Oahu. It's my home. Have some respect," [Sen. Brian] Schatz tweeted.

Aaron Blake writes in the Washington Post:

There are a few problems with this.

The first is that Hawaii is a state and has been since 1959. Dismissing it as "an island in the Pacific" is the kind of thing that will earn you the pleasure of apologizing to an entire state. We'll start the countdown clock.

The second is that the judge isn't a Hawaiian judge, per se. Derrick Watson is actually a federal judge who happens to serve on a district court in Hawaii. And in case you were wondering, he has some of that all-important mainland experience and perspective, having worked as a lawyer in San Francisco.

And the third is that Hawaii does have major ports of entry, with international travelers arriving regularly. (We hear the beaches are nice or something?) Hence, it is affected by Trump's travel ban. ...

Your move, entire state of Hawaii.

It's okay for Sessions to talk about Hawaii that way, because D.C. is just a swamp in the mid-Atlantic.

I heard someone was going to drain it. Turned out to be fake news. Bottom feeder fossils like Sessions still wield power in D.C.

"Like it was some secret tape"

No, just intended for consumption by Trump guzzlers, and obviously not meant for widespread dissemination outside of the warm splash chamber.

I know what you are saying;

'But Kudzu, you seem to hate Sessions worse than Trump.' It's true, I do.

I think thump is the most worthless person ever to sit in Washington DC, but Sessions is truly evil.

You don't believe it, just keep track of what he does and says.

The only good thing about Sessions is that he usually tells you straight up what kind of evil he is up to.

I am also not the one who posted racial stereotypes in the first two post trying to be insulting either.

That I corrected a progressive on their racial stereotypes is the only reason why you even responded.

I corrected a progressive on their racial stereotypes

No you didn't.

This is what you said:

Mexicans and Hawaiians of Philipino descent do look alike

Mexicans and Hawaiians don't look alike.

People of Filipino (learn to spell you moron) heritage, on the other hand, do look alike.

Can you understand the difference?

I doubt it.

#20 | Posted by ClownShack at 2017-04-21 11:51 AM | Reply

So you are saying people of Philipino descent can't be citizens of Hawaii? Even if they are born and raised there? Interesting! Should Hawaii build a wall to keep them out? I think they are the third largest population in Hawaii.

So yes, Mexicans and Hawaiians of Philipino descent do look alike due to there shared heratige.

How do You spell Philippines?

IOW, he is extremely dangerous.

Unfortunately making asinine statements do not rise to crimes and significant misdemeanors. But hey, so long as Hillery and Bill can commit multiple felonies with out being charged I guess what is good for the goose is good for the gander.I guess Nixon was right, if you have enough power and possession, the rules do not apply to you. At least Nixon was forced out of office.

The reason Hawaii is taking shots from the right is the usual ODS. Obama was born there and they are still upset that Hawaii produced his birth certificate. Therefore if they can somehow imply that Hawaii isn't a legitimate part of the USA then they can convince themselves that Obama was an illegitimate president.

To be fair to TROLLIX, Mexicans and Hawaiians do look very similar. A very close Mexican friend of mine spent a lot of time in Hawaii, multiple islands, and consistently was able to pass as a local. Anyone in the surfing community knows how beneficial this can be when visiting Hawaii.

I've watched Sessions give prepared remarks and be interviewed a few times in the past week. He's either one of the stupidest men to ever be named AG, or he's losing his faculties due to age. It's a frightening thing that our AG is a moron, and our President is a moron with some sort of major mental disorder. Combover Caligula called Paul Ryan "Ron" twice in a recent speech, does not know who rules N. Korea, more interested in chocolate cake than which country he sent cruise missiles to.

30 | Posted by Angrydad Ok, Felonies committed by Bill, Perjury, lying to an investigator, impeding an investigation and multiple counts of rape. Hillery's are so numerous it isn't a challenge. But most recently, Lying to a congressional committee, giving false statements to the FBI conducting a criminal investigation, Mishandling classified information, (that is a serious charge, each document mishandled is punishable by years in a federal prison and she had hundreds of them on her unsecured personal server). But her criminality did not start with her term as Sec Of State, Cattlegate,(receiving a bribe) Deceptive contracts, Fraud,(Whitewater), Slander,(attacks on Bill's mistresses), Travelgate(making false statements to get individuals fired), and others probity more serious. One she can not argue, the FBI files she had while she was First Lady, they had her finger prints on them, one of the Nixon crony's spent spent two years in prison for having one page of those files, she had over 500.

Back in the day articles on here used to get hundreds of responses with back and forth banter. I guess discus, youtube, facebook and other content providers with comment sections are contributing the slow death of this website.

I guess it doesn't matter that Sessions is right, the court has no standing to make this ruling, also they have no American Citizen to bring it to the court as it only applies to foreigners who do not have constitutional rights and no "implied right" to come here. No standing, no jurisdiction, no citizen affected = no case.

The court has every right to issue this order.... see #48 if you have a problem with that.
