Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

The Republican case for repealing the Affordable Care Act and moving swiftly to enact a "replacement" plan largely rests on oft-repeated arguments that the law is floundering so badly, urgent action is needed. ... What Republicans fail to mention is that many of these problems are the handiwork of state and federal Republican officials who spent years undermining the law, contributing to the conditions they now say oblige them to dismantle it.

Georgia's insurance commissioner, Ralph Hudgens, put it unusually bluntly. "Let me tell you what we're doing," he said in August 2013, just two months before the first open enrollment period. "Everything in our power to be an obstructionist." Hudgens also said, "I'm not going to do anything in my power to make this law successful." In other words, rather than assist Georgians who elected him with getting health coverage, Hudgens prioritized resisting Obama.

I love that op ed, it is about time someone calls out the Republicans for their utter duplicity, their lack of concern for their constituents and their dishonesty about healthcare in the U.S. And now these lying scumbags want to take healthcare away from millions while wasting millions more on the military which it doesn't need. If cancer kills you you won't care about more bombs. I honestly do await the day that the working class Republicans wake up to the fact that their party doesn't care if they live or die.

Never in the history of this country had we seen so much hatred to a black presidency. If all that effort was spent working on behalf of Americans, premiums would be at their lowest. Shout out to Rubio for eliminating the risk corridors provisions in the operation of exchanges.

And he's only been in office two months. He's done nothing of any significance.

I distinctly remember during the first term of the Obama regime. Liberals were constantly blaming Bush for for every problem.

The Republicans would be wise to leave Obamacare alone. If they put their name to it, they're going to take the blame for the failures inherent in Obamacare.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

If you're not part of the top 10% of society.

The Republican Party isn't for you and doesn't give a damn about you.

Fortunately for the GOP. There are millions of morons willing to vote against their own self interests.

He's done nothing of any significance.

He's frozen the EPA. He's proposed two Muslim bans. He's wasted millions of taxpayer dollars on vacations for himself. He's wasted millions of taxpayer dollars on housing his wife and son. He's hired unqualified, dangerous, morons for his cabinet.

Those are just off the top of my head.

You are a waste of time.

Obamacare was a ruse and a very expensive lie to get to single payer when hrc was elected. It was designed to fail, and it is.

"I distinctly remember during the first term of the Obama regime. Liberals were constantly blaming Bush for for every problem."

And we are still dealing with the problems he caused. Remember back when Clinton was leaving office and Bush was telling us that a "surplus" was a bad thing, then he slashed taxes on the rich and invaded Iraq which set the entire middle east on fire and it's still burning.

"Obamacare was a ruse and a very expensive lie to get to single payer when hrc was elected. It was designed to fail, and it is."

Personally, I wouldn't mind that if it were true but it is nonsense. The Republicans did everything they could to sabotage Obamacare and Marco Rubio's little trick of defunding the risk corridors is directly responsible for the lack of competition and the increase in rates. He did it gleefully, knowing his own constituents as well as millions of others would have to pay more for healthcare because his actions were a political attack not an attempt to improve healthcare. Republican politicians don't give a crap if you have healthcare or not unless you are at least a millionaire, then they might care about you. If you aren't they laugh at you and your family's problems.

It should only cost $10-12K for a visit and a Z pack, so it's manageable.

All national governments do it. It works best when one is not conscious of it. That's why every government in the world sponsors public schools. Children are impressionable when they are young.

If the subject interests you, look up "Propaganda" by Edward Bernays. He was a major pioneer on the subject. An American of Austrian descent.

Not denying the raw facts without the spin. In #6, I argued that Trump so far has done nothing of significance. The clown is being petty. And he's pissed because Trump is not doing what he wants him to do.

How about Marco Rubio and the Republicans in Congress? Trump is now the figurehead of the party that went 8 years with one goal, prevent Obama from succeeding at anything no matter how that affected the American people. Caucus House conspiracy is not an imaginary thing, it really happened and it really did harm the American people, still is. Because power is more important to the Republican leadership than the welfare of the American people is.

Nothing would please me more than to see both parties in gridlock for the rest of my life. They don't solve problems. They create problems then make them worse. That's how we got to this mess.

The feds a have been messing up health insurance since Eisenhower. You can't expect an incompetent institution to fix problems of its own doing.

Because power is more important to the Republican leadership than the welfare of the American people is.

Hate to break this to you Danni. The Democrats are just as culpable.

The Democrats try to solve problem but it might cost a few cents in extra taxes on the rich to do that and that is unacceptable to the Republicans. That's the truth Ray, we could do great things in this country but since Reagan taxes are the enemy. When you fools finally recognize the fact that Reaganomics is the enemy we will finally start recovering.

Because never in the history of the USA have we had such an incompetent, mendacious president who wastes our money openly while padding his own coffers. Oh yes, then there's the cabinet: a collection of uniquely, superbly unqualified people who know nothing about their position. You helped create it--OWN IT.

Yeah, and all Bush did was take surpluses as far as the eye could see, turn them into the largest deficits in history, drive the economy off the cliff, and hand off the steering wheel.

Blame Bush? Only an idiot wouldn't.
