Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Canada's highest court is upholding a lower-court ruling in favor of investors who launched a lawsuit alleging they were misled by U.S. President Donald Trump and a real estate development firm. The Supreme Court of Canada said it will not hear a leave to appeal by the defendants in the legal saga -- which include the U.S. president, developer Talon International and its former executives. No reasons were given by the court for the dismissal. The plaintiffs -- Sarbjit Singh and Se Na Lee -- allege they were sold units in the hotel under false pretenses and misled to believe their investments would result in returns ranging from 7.74 percent to 20.90 percent. Instead, the two investors lost a combined $1.2 million, according to a decision by the Ontario Court of Appeal last year. The 65-story tower in Toronto's financial district is comprised of hotel rooms and private residences and is managed by the Trump Organization.

"Donald's the worst president most of us can expect in our lifetimes."

I certainly hope so.

I always figured that Truman and Eisenhower balanced out Nixon and W. for my lifetime. It will take a miracle from God to compensate for Donald.

I'm not a big Truman fan, actually, and wish FDR had stayed with Wallace.

Harry Truman was the first American President to propose universal healthcare. We still don't have it.

I don't have an opinion about Truman because he honored an alliance we had made and confronted China in the process. I don't honestly know if that was a good decision but I do believe it was a decision that he made reluctantly and certainly not with the same decision process as George W. Bush about Iraq. I do believe Truman was an honorable man but I do not believe the same thing about George W. Bush or his father.

Carter was the most honorable president in recent history; a genuine, decent, and respectable person.

I agree about Carter. He's the only former President who has openly stated, on the air, that "America is no longer a democracy, it is an oligarchy."

"They're not high rollers, high finance people. They're plain ordinary people who generally read about this (Trump hotel) on the Internet or saw advertisements and were told they would get a very decent return," said Wine.

Oh, in that case, since they got their information from the Internet and ads, then we should always refund their money if someone loses it. This is going to have serious implications for Canada and their attractiveness for businesses. Not a smart move by them. After looking more into this, just an ad on a website saying "You could make millions!" would be a cause for litigation.

Yet, of course, the commenters focus on their anti-President hate and completely ignore what is actually happening. this is how spending and legislation gets out of control.

American citizens are more undeserving and unqualified to live and vote in the leading free nation than Trump is at running it.

Exactly. That's why you and Donald need to come arrest us. We're so freaking undeserving.

Donald is a Liar, and a Thief. Good on Canada.

That's why he couldn't get reelected. Donnie (and many Rs before him) show that many voters want to get lied to. They are willing to believe you can cut taxes, increase spending, and balance the budget. If someone tries to tell them the truth 'way too many go "Ewwww, you're no fun. I want that shiny thing over there." Sigh.
