Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, November 21, 2016

By the time Richard B. Spencer, the leading ideologue of the alt-right movement and the final speaker of the night, rose to address a gathering of his followers on Saturday, the crowd was restless. ... Earlier in the day, Spencer himself had urged the group to start acting less like an underground organization and more like the establishment. But now his tone changed as he began to tell the audience of more than 200 people, mostly young men, what they had been waiting to hear. He railed against Jews and, with a smile, quoted Nazi propaganda in the original German. America, he said, belonged to white people, whom he called the "children of the sun," a race of conquerors and creators who had been marginalized but now, in the era of President-elect Donald J. Trump, were "awakening to their own identity."

As he finished, several audience members had their arms outstretched in a Nazi salute. When Spencer, or perhaps another person standing near him at the front of the room -- it was not clear who -- shouted, "Heil the people! Heil victory," the room shouted it back.

These are exultant times for the alt-right movement, which was little known until this year, when it embraced Trump's campaign and he appeared to embrace it back.

He chose as his campaign chairman Stephen K. Bannon, the media executive who ran the alt-right's most prominent platform, Breitbart News, and then named him as a senior adviser and chief strategist.

Mandate my foot! The people rise against Trump

Trump's election did not represent a mandate for his policies. The majority of voters rejected them. That's reflected in the youth, who are undaunted and already self-organizing in the #notmypresident protests.

What is urgently needed now is unity. Every conceivable movement and ally prepared to defend social advances and democratic norms must be mobilized, starting with the labor-led people's movement, Black Lives Matter, climate justice groups, the Dreamers, the LGTBQ community, and women, in alliance with the Democratic Party and all parts of what was the Hillary Clinton electoral coalition, and those inspired by the Bernie Sanders campaign.

Well ya know...the clowns need to have a come to jeezus meetin with those alt right uberclowns whom they whored themselves to as a means to attain a victory. They knew Trumpho0le was all about them... so was Cruz for that matter.... Well what do you expect when you come into the political fray without a set of policies.

The legitimization of the openly racist right by Trump is a terrible event. I don't think we know how bad it will get.

Soros worked closely with the Nazis. www.americanthinker.com

The Democrats created the KKK too. Parties and priorities change and rotate. Back in the Civil war era the Dems had slaves and cotton fields and they wanted cheap labor then as they do now with illegals.

Yes they do. The Republicans are now openly embracing a movement of white supremacists, anti-Semites and racists.

No one has done identity politics like the GOP. No one. The difference is when you're being courted as a white person, you just agree with what's being said and hear it as "finally! someone hears me!"

When the same thing is done to another group - you scream "what about me? how can you talk to them?"

#15 | Posted by YAV at 2016-11-22 07:23 AM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

And can we stop calling these White Supremacists "Alt-Right?"
While I'm at it - it's pretty funny they came up with a term they think is more palatable, while screaming how PC is killing America.

"trolled again"

Remember when the Nazis trolled Germany? LOL. Funny.

Anyway, Trump has managed to destroy the Republican party and now he is squeezing the oozing, festering boil on the ass of America so we all can witness the amount of despicable putridity coming out of the pus filled sack. I gotta hand it to him-- he is fulfilling his destiny extremely efficiently. And he isn't even president yet!

Anyway, I am a firm believer that you need to be exposed to the disease in order to find the cure.

#18 | Posted by pumpkinhead at 2016-11-22 09:53 AM | Reply | Newsworthy 2

Honestly I think they will be somewhat disappointed. They believe Trump has negative feelings towards certain minority groups.

Instead Trump has negative feelings towards everyone. I don't think Trump sees people, of all races and genders, as people. He seems them as either something to take advantage of or nothing. Its all about what he can get from them. Otherwise, he doesn't care.

#19 | Posted by Sycophant at 2016-11-22 10:05 AM | Reply

You might be right, Sycophant. The problem is, Trump has unleashed the rubes who now feel empowered to enact white supremacy. I predict more supremacists and fascists coming out from their hiding places and running for office, disrupting city council meetings, harassing minorities and so on.

This is just surreal.

Tell you what, right-wingers. You want a civil war? You keep going full Nazi, you will get one.

What are these racists going to "rise up" and do? What will their supposed "empowerment" get them?
They're a very small group of extreme racists. Laws are still laws, the same scorn a racist received before the republican primary will be the same scorn they'd receive today, or January 2017.

The kinds of people we are talking about are extreme. There is nothing the run of the mill "racist" or bigoted American can relate to with that kind of nazi crap.

Think of your "racist" friends, brothers, parents, etc. can you see them agreeing with this type of nazi crap? No. They're the type that avoid the black neighborhood, don't like "illegal immigrants", tell and laugh at racist jokes and caricatures, and hold stereotypes.

I'll go out on a limb and waste my time attempting to sum it up for you. Think of the hyper PC, emotionally fragile end of the Democrats. Coloring books and therapy animals to deal with an election result. The alt-right is the inverse of that, and think being offensive for the sake of being offensive is funny as a cultural rejection of the opposite's extreme. It's an entire movement built on trolling. This is plainly stated in the interviews of their media figures like Milo. He's a gay, white brit with black boyfriends and admits everything alt-right is built on trolling as a rejection of extreme PC behavior.

What Democrats seem to be doing is the same thing Republicans did when Al Queda hit the twin towers. Instead of listening to what they actually had to say about why they did what they did, the right ran around saying "THEY HATE OUR FREEDOM!". Everybody needs to shut up for a minute and recognize each others points, drop the identity politics and grow up.

#50 | Posted by sitzkrieg at 2016-11-23 08:30 AM | Reply

While there are some trolls in the neo-nazi white supremacist wing of the Republican party, your assertion that that's all this is is wishful thinking.
Go tell all those people that all they're doing is trolling and see what happens.

You know who got trolled constantly? Trump - by the "Blacks for Trump" people. And he was so happy for their adulation, he let it go on and on - never realizing they were a cult that required homocide and proof of the murder (by presenting the victim's head) to ascend in the organization. And yet there they were with their signs and website listed in rally after rally. The "law & order" candidate - embracing those people. Wow.

So trying to find some kind of "peace" with these dangerous people by claiming it's all trolling is destructive to America and our ideals.
So no, I don't buy the premise.
At all.

It sounds like it was a cartoon that took one aspect and had fun with it. Not a documentary.

Yeah, I do. Lemme ask you, do you think it's "Republicans" as a whole? I find the who;e thing pretty hypocritical though...Here we have a small group which shouts, makes noise and says "heil" with raised arms. Surely a bunch of idiots. If you had to choose putting up with one or the other, which would you choose? No need to answer, we all know how you...AND the current president and his administration...would choose.
