Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

The Kanye West show was billed as one of the biggest concerts booked for the new Golden 1 Center in Sacramento. But not long after the music began Saturday night, streets and sidewalks near the arena erupted with chants and cussing aimed at the hip-hop megastar. After just two songs and 30 minutes -- about half that time spent on a stream-of-consciousness rant against everything from MTV to Hillary Clinton -- the hip-hop star abruptly pulled the plug. "Press, get ready to write your passive-aggressive, LeBron James racist comments ... get ready, get ready, 'cause the show's over!" West said, dropping the microphone and running off the stage.

Once the house lights went up, Golden 1 Center filled with choruses of boos and confused looks. Outside the arena, many fans were visibly upset, especially after plunking down so much money on tickets.

"I spent $250," said a disappointed Christian Krebs of Sacramento. "I might be a fan of his music, but I'm not a fan of his character." ...

The performance capped a wild few days for West, who was booed at his Nov. 17 show in San Jose after saying that he didn't vote, but if he did, he would've voted for Trump.

Alt-right is a fan of Kanye now, interesting times indeed.

Yeah okay? Do you remember the Taylor Swift thing and the GWB doesn't like black people thing?

You guys ---- on Kanye continuously since then.

You pose a completely ridiculous question, first confirming the RW hates him because they're racist, then saying therefore, the LW must have the same motivation.

Damaged logic. There are other explanations for their objections to his ideas.

Not sure who this broadbrush is meant to include, but if I'm in the target demographic then I'd like to add that I'm likely one of the few ReTorters who have seen Kanye live (Glow in the Dark '08 and Watch the Throne '12).

Just my $0.02.

Kanye is as big of a piece of trash as Trump. They deserve each other, America deserves neither.

He's a dirtbag for walking out on his paying fans.

But people who takes anything he says seriously, in this case the Trump comments, are idiots.

Kanye West is an asinine attention seeker. It's a shame for all the people who paid a fortune to see him in concert that he let them all down with his latest childish antics.

I won't say he's an untalented musician, but I find his public persona to be a massive snooze.

If you know who/what this guy is, and you still bought tickets, doesn't this type of outlandish diva crap just go with the territory?
Plus, they've got a cool story to share.
I don't feel bad for them at all.

The guy is an idiot. If you buy tickets to see him do at your own risk. I don't ever remember seeing how long a concert has to be anyways. The only song I ever liked of his was gold digger.

I actually have been pretty knocked out by several of Kanye's songs. I'm not a big fan of rap and I'm not a religious guy, but I was still powerfully moved by "Jesus Walks" - all the different video versions, but especially the first one. This is gripping stuff right here (play loud): youtu.be

So he's got talent. Maybe not as much as he thinks he does, but he's got talent.

And I've got no problem with provocateurs who challenge the orthodoxy and make me think. But holy smokes, Kanye is all over the map, and he lacks self-control. He embarrasses himself (or should, if he had some humility) on a weekly basis. So he and Trump have that much in common.

Hopefully Kanye gets the help he needs while facing whatever personal crisis he's going through right now...

Don't buy into it...

He's probably fine ..... or at least not different when everyone loved him.

The whole narrative here is that Trump supporters need to be hospitalized.

The culture of celebrity is finally dying. Mr West is just a singer, nothing more. He isn't very educated, probably hasn't read a book in years, if ever. Not known for much but his anti-Trump statements. He could do us a favor and keep his word and leave the country now that Trump has been elected. There plenty of singers that would love to take his place. People who are just as talented. Something tells me he doesn't have the nerve. The thought of having another language might be a scary prospect for this genius.
