Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

The University of Florida wants students to know that counseling is available for students hoping to work past any offense taken from Halloween costumes. "Some Halloween costumes reinforce stereotypes of particular races, genders, cultures or religions. Regardless of intent, these costumes can perpetuate negative stereotypes, causing harm and offense to groups of people," the school administration wrote in a blog post. "If you are troubled by an incident that does occur, please know that there are many resources available."

Your choice to only insult men offends me, Sniper. College-age women also must be protected from Halloween costume microaggressions.

Better yet here is a number all the snowflakes can call: 1-800-CRY-BABY

The only Halloween costume incident we had when I was at school was when one student dressed as another. There was a student on campus who had very prominent eyebrows. Not a unibrow, or big bushy eyebrows. Just very thick and dark like he put eye black above his eyes. If someone on campus mentioned "Eyebrow Man", you'd know who they were talking about.

So some kid decided it would be funny to put black electrical tape over his eyebrows and wear a sweatshirt with Eyebrow Man's fraternity letters on it as his Halloween costume. Unfortunately for him, Eyebrow Man was a pretty big guy and the campus was very small. Eventually Eyebrow Man caught wind of it, tracked him down and gave him a beating. Most people agreed that this was a fair resolution.

Yet heaven forbid someone should say "Happy Holidays" in stead of "Merry Christmas", then all you tough men like Bill O'Riley start cryin' like, well, like a girl.

Liberals like these only create more trump followers.

The PC police are going to do more harm than good.

I for one am freaked out by people who dress up like alligators, who manipulate their arms like an alligator biting something, and who cheer for gangs of men dressed in helmets who collide with each other for hours on end. The hot chicks who stand by and jump up and down are OK, though...

It is always a joy to read about publicly embarrassing student policy at my alma mater's instate rival.

Next up, will UF do something about the many jort wearing, orange and blue flaunting, toothless ugly people who attend their university?

Oh, the poor little babies need counseling, because they saw a Halloween costume.

Then again, maybe its a better use of resources than the football team budget.

Yes people have such weak minds that they can not stand a costume.

Free speech is no longer allowed. And no one wants to say you have no right to get offended because someone else exercises his freedom of speech.

This is Communism you must be politically correct and follow the rules forced on your.

As are you, by their mere existence...

#14 | Posted by snoofy at 2016-10-18 07:38 PM | Reply

Snoofy, I'm not offended by the hyper-offended.

It's comedic pointing out their hypocrisy, especially since they are too stupid to see it.

Exactly, James.

SJW's are hilariously cartoonish. They deserve to be mocked and ridiculed.

Oh, so this is all just for laughs, you don't actually have any problem with people who behave this way?
You just enjoy mocking and ridiculing people, because it makes you laugh.

People who need a safe space after seeing Trump's name written with chalk on a sidewalk deserve to be mocked. Their behavior is ridiculous.

Im speaking of punching the school admin that kowtows to this ridiculous sensititvity of students. This is college, not daycare.

It's sadly mainstream. The University of Chicago has come out against this crap. As has Purdue (big fan of their president). But they are outliers.

For some reason I think Alex will probably take umbrage at you labeling his view as 'conservative values'.

People who engage in ridiculous behavior (along with their enablers) deserve to be mocked and ridiculed.

It's kind of like 'Tough love with Siri'.

Go take another toke and mellow out.

I am more upset with the colleges who enable this lunacy, than the students that demand it. You cant tell me reasonable adults buy this microaggression and safe space garbage, theyre just afraid of veing sued.

I save my ridicule for actual people I encounter, like you, or Boaz.
I don't ridicule whole groups of people I don't interact with.
But mostly, I don't think anyone "deserves" to be mocked.

I don't think they know what they're doing. But, I think that giving students a lot of latitude to build their Lord Of The Flies society is fine for young adults.

Expecting any group to police itself, and do a good job, is ridiculous, be it college leftists or the corporate America they'll be begging to get jobs in.

The SJWs deserve it. They are enemies of free speech and the academic ideal of free exchange of ideas.

Silly me.

Would have been an Onion story 5 years ago.

"The University of Massachusetts, Amherst is posting "cultural appropriation" posters in each of the residence halls on campus featuring a detailed "racism evaluation and assessment meter."

The "Simple Costume Racism Evaluation and Assessment Meter" (S.C.R.E.A.M.) poses several questions to students, then assigns a threat level based on how much a costume differs from the student's own race.

Do you say the same thing about snl?

#42 | Posted by Sniper at 2016-10-19 01:53 PM | Reply

Comedy has its place.
Surely you can see how people like Carlin used comedy to make brilliant social commentary.
But that's not what happening here. People mocking college kids aren't commenting on anything other than themselves.
They're doing it to make themselves feel superior, and also as a way to say there's no point in even engaging these people in a dialogue.

I do it sometimes, we probably all do but that doesn't mean it's a good thing to do. Really, it shouldn't be a habit. But it's practically a way of life for some people. Building yourself up by putting others down is a zero sum game.
