Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Sunday, October 16, 2016

"If there's one sliver of light relief to this year's election cycle, it may just lie with Saturday Night Live and Alec Baldwin's side-splitting impression of the Republican candidate. Indeed, Baldwin's Donald Trump returned for the live sketch show's take on the second presidential debate; seeing him once more take to the stage to face off against Kate McKinnon's Hillary Clinton, who has this time mastered the art of the casual lean." -- The Independent

Trump's ego is so fragile he can't even laugh at an SNL skit.

Can you imagine how he'd react as president, the most scrutinized and criticized job in the world?

There wouldn't be any criticism, what with all that winning going on all the time.

"Watched Saturday Night Live hit job on me.Time to retire the boring and unfunny show. Alec Baldwin portrayal stinks. Media rigging election!"

THIS is considered to be his decree to *cancel the show? ~hand/head slap.

In defense of Trump that was a pretty bad portrayal. Still fun but not particularly good.

I thought it was very funny. SNL has been doing this for years. Remember the Clinton years and GWB?

"Jane, you ignorant ----!" Donald Trump's feelings are being hurt as you make your silly jokes, have a little compassion for the orange man.

@#3 ... Can you imagine how he'd react as president, the most scrutinized and criticized job in the world?

I've seen many of the supporters of Mr Trump frequently criticize Pres Obama for his extending and expanding the power of the Executive Branch, against the intent of the Constitution.

Yet those same people are looking to place a massively authoritarian person into the Oval Office. A person who is unable to take even minor criticism and one who appears would trample First Amendment rights of speech and press freedom, in addition to an extreme expansion of the powers of the Executive Branch.

Yeah I have wondered about "small government" conservatives support for Trump for a while now. You would think they would be defecting to Libertarian in droves but somehow Dictator Trump seems better to them. I guess because the intrusive government he stands for matches the intrusive government they like, I just wish they would quit pretending they really want a small government and admit they want just as big a government as the rest, only their version.

I don't have to imagine. He'd react the same way any thin skinned tin pot dictator would react.

With violence.

@#14 Donald don't worry it will cancel itself.

The show has been on the air since October 1975. It has gone through worse stretches, and has survived.

And yet with their edgy, fight the power, speek truth to power, hip, style of humor, in almost 40 years they have yet to point their acerbic wit at the Democrat party. This despite the Democrats being the majority power most of that time. It possible you rebels are being very successfully played.

Drumpf showing more of his authoritarian side, he would love to have the kind of control over US media as his idols Putin and Kim have in Russia and N. Korea.

The control of the media Hillary has is superior to that of even Stalinist Russia. It's not forced, they are true believers.

Yeah, it's pretty bad when even FOX turns against him.

Shame on Hillary for controlling FOX. ~ LOL

Sidenote Visitor,

Trump trashes everything he can't control. That includes Hillary Clinton, the Democratic party and the media ... just to name a few of his targets.

Sending a signal to Vladimir Putin that Russia should hack into Democrats' computers is only one of the ways Trump hoped to get "control."

He rails against the media because he has no control. He rails against Hillary because he has no control. He rails against the RNC because he has no control. He rails against the "establishment" because he has no control.

Trump is a control freak who believes that his dictatorial style of bullying and intimidation will win him the election. Trump's stock in trade is fear, intimidation and revenge.

Truth is, Trump can't even control his own campaign. He can't control the RNC. He can't control campaign contributions. He can't control the media. He can't control the moderators or the debates. He can't control the states or the delegates who vote in the electoral process. He can't control the voters. Thus he resorts to trash talking the system. That's the last vestige he has but it's also a death knell.

I thought it was fair and balanced; both "candidates" are dangerous morons--as bad or worse than all the compromised ethical morons we've had in office since the assassination of Kennedy by his own government, which proves, by the way, that it didn't start with Kennedy, eh? He and his brother were "taken out" because being from an elitist family those who controlled things didn't see it coming, didn't see that the John and Bobby Kennedy had their own mind.

SNL got it right. These "candidates" are both so bad that the fact that any citizen can get behind either one of them only proves that partisan politics in amerika has come into its own and is manifesting itself as the disease that it is.
A divide, a cut, is one thing, and might after all be healed. But schizophrenia is another thing altogether, a thing that no quick trip tot he doctor will heal. The Founders like Washington and Jefferson and many others who worried about parties deserve better than this. Heaven help us for we have broken the mirror of self reflection and can no longer see what we are doing to and with our beautiful inheritance, with the Grand Experiment.

I can see it too. That ankle biter would go so far as to get facial reconstruction surgery, perfect the craft of standup comedy, audition to become a writer on SNL, and flog every producer to get hired just to "expose" the left leanings of Lorne Michaels.

#32: Well, it's pretty good material Ducandy. So, thanks for that link. But do you remember the lyrics, "The revolution will not be televised?" It's out, but still it may never get out.
It's good work though. I only wish we had real alternatives, citizen candidates who were persons of character. Stein is probably worthy of a vote but no one else that I can see.
