Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

The Obama administration announced Friday a new round of executive actions designed to increase trade and travel with the communist island. And this is the one many Americans have been waiting for -- no more restrictions on the island's famed rum and cigars. Under the new rules, which go into effect Monday, travelers can purchase unlimited quantities of Cuban rum and cigars in any country where they are sold so long as they are for personal consumption. On Friday, Obama added to the regulatory changes with a presidential policy directive that outlines his Cuba strategy thus far and lays out the future course. It includes a call for Congress to rescind a 50-year-old economic embargo on the island.

Not sure this is a big deal. I know a lot of people go for the Cuban cigars, maybe this will cut down on the counterfeit. For my money, better cigars come out of the Dominican Republic and Ecuador.

Sort of like buying US products, I would rather not support a communist regime.

Only when I have no other options.

The tools I buy are made in Canada, Oregon & Maine. My shoes come from Portland.

Clothes made in US are hard to come by.

Truck made in US.

Appliances made in US (Frig, Wash, Dry, Range, Dish, Mixer).

Stereo made in Canada. Is there a TV made in the US?

Get fruit and vegies from farmer's market (when in season)

Make my own furniture (why I buy tools from US). The wood is local from a guy down the road who has a sawmill.

Computer and Printer probably made in China. Although US company (HP).

Really do try to buy US made products.

Go to a thrift store. You'll find all kinds of things that used to be made in the US, and outlived their owner, while the cheap plastic modern versions are already in the landfill.

Is there a TV made in the US?

It made the news when Zenith closed up shop. Can't remember when. 80s or 90s. Ancient history, as it were.

Oh so now you're against the American stockholders that make all our stuff in China.

Just messing with you Sawdust, but I think it's time we welcome Cuba back to the hemisphere.

Had a Cuban cigar given to me on a business trip to Dallas, Tx. Went down to the JFK Memorial and smoked it on the grassy knoll.

You know that little wooden fence that stands on the knoll? Some graffiti artist wrote on it:

"JFK, you spoke your mind
They took your life."

You know that little wooden fence that stands on the knoll? Ralphy Cruz wrote on it:

"This one's for Fidel and the Bay of Pigs, Johnny-boy"
