Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Warning, Republican voters: Your neighbors will know if you don't vote for GOP candidates this year. At least that's the ominous message in an unusual mailer the New Mexico Republican Party recently sent to voters. Above a photo of a woman peering out her window from behind the blinds, a caption reads, "When Democrats win the election and you didn't do your part to stop it ... Your neighbors will know" -- the last four words in large, black letters, all capitalized. On the back of the mailer is an aerial photo of houses -- or possibly models of houses -- some of which have check marks above them. "Do your part in this election," a caption says. "After all, voting is a matter of public record."

It's an appeal to weak-minded lemmings who don't understand that their franchise is private.

It could also be a foreshadowing that GOP election observers plan on violating state and federal election laws for the sake of compiling voting information that will be used in retaliation against specified voters who don't toe the party line.

Either way it's ignorance glorified.

Disgusting.
This is approaching Black Panther level of intimidation.

Seriously, this is disgusting.

Jeff, you have become a racist loon. I was reading your BS comments about the president being a race baiter on another thread, and then this right wing swamp dream of a comment. I'm assuming you're talking about that photo of a couple of self described "Black Panthers" that Faux pulls out every election to show supposed black intimidation of voters? Rather than take Faux's word for it and display your racist ignorance, do some actual research. As I recall, those men were actually at a polling place in a majority black precinct. They were responding to well documented intimidation of black voters that goes on every election (threatening blacks with arrest for a variety of BS things), in particular a story that Republican poll watchers would be showing up at that polling place to challenge black voters. They were actually defending the right of black people to vote. The police saw nothing wrong with it, as the men were not arrested. But the racists Faux viewers saw big scary black men at a polling place and they wet themselves.

Quoted in the article:
"If she's in office, I hope we can start a coup. She should be in prison or shot. That's how I feel about it," Dan Bowman, a 50-year-old contractor, said of Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee. "We're going to have a revolution and take them out of office if that's what it takes. There's going to be a lot of bloodshed. But that's what it's going to take. . . . I would do whatever I can for my country."

Okay, I'll play along:

"Your neighbors will know"

And do what? Come and shoot you traitors first when the revolution begins?

JeffJ notice hiw your mind immediately goes to blacks behaving poorly when faced with evidence of whites behaving poorly.

Why does that happen?

From the Boston Globe link:

"Trump said to watch your precincts. I'm going to go, for sure," said Steve Webb, a 61-year-old carpenter from Fairfield, Ohio.

"I'll look for . . . well, it's called racial profiling. Mexicans. Syrians. People who can't speak American," he said. "I'm going to go right up behind them. I'll do everything legally. I want to see if they are accountable. I'm not going to do anything illegal. I'm going to make them a little bit nervous."

We know how our so-called "representatives" vote; it is they that we should "retaliate" against by calling them back home to answer for their voting record and their ongoing amnesia concerning the Constitution.
Why wait for the equally compromised courts? They will not help us since their job is to help those in power to get around the Constitution!
Each state should form a Constitution based Citizens Committee to watch what their "representatives" are actually doing in Washington! This could be easily done; after all are we not a union of independent states? Each state is sovereign as is each citizen, eh? We are not required to dip our heads to federal power which needs to be forced back into the natural limits of its original mold. All the states have to do is send reps to Washington who will get rid of all the thousands of unconstitutional laws that have been passed since 1913! But the people of the states must have the will to do it and I don't see this at all. People are asleep, or lazy, or both. Sad and very stupid, and unworthy of the efforts of the Founders. JWC

to #8 CBob, well it may come to that, but when Mr. Bowman acts out of an abundance of righteous indignation and actually puts his feet to the pavement, the authorities will come to pick him up and his neighbors will all stand by and watch and do nothing in his support. Indeed, they will probably dismiss him as a "trouble maker," and/or a "traitor."
The nation is made up of the stupid products of amerikan schools and is hopelessly self righteousness in their ignorance and hopelessly divided from a full one half of their neighbors. And if a small minority should act, say 15%, the other 85% will inform on them! That's how divided we are and it will be the end of us.
Meanwhile with the help of the three parts of government, no longer separate, the real criminals and traitors will continue to go free--and get a promotion into the bargain!
The amerikan citizen needs a good dose of the parable of the Good Samaritan. It might help them--if they can still read.

And rightly so. Not everyone is crazy like Bowman and you.

Danni: For Tories, righteous indignation and conscience will always be criminalized. But in the American Revolution where a patient conscience won out in the end, the Tories ended up a very sad lot. But then "those who place security before liberty deserve neither," and things usually level out over time. So, we'll see how this works out for you later.

So noble you are, JWC, protecting us from tyranny and all.

Except, you see, quite a few of us aren't buying that tyranny crap you are selling. It's not because we're passive and need to "wake up." It's because we disagree.

I'm agreeing with Donald on this issue, especially if there is violence following Hillary's now-inevitable election.

Just as we must ban all muslims entering "until we can figure this out" and deport any that don't share America's values, we must do the same with Drumpf voters. Put them under house arrest until we can weed out the violent ones and deport those ones to Cuba or wherever their ancestor came from.We can, before doing that, with Donald and the RNC's blessing, torture them "because they have it coming".

And, of course we have to investigate the churches they attend, because many get radicalized in them.

Remember campers, not all Drumpf voters are rightwing domestic terrorists but all rightwing domestic terrorists are Drumpf voters. However, we must make sure only loyal Americans are walking among us.

My prediction, we'll have an election and let the rule of law prevail even as lunatics talk about revolution because they don't like the outcome.

Back on topic for a minute re: "Your neighbors will know."

This is an old tactic used by the GOP. It didn't work then either. It just made people mad.

Also, I dare some "observer" to breath down my neck when I vote. The consequences would be dire and possibly painful.

Taser carry is legal.

Snoofy,

My comment was to poke at the hypocrisy of those who are offended by this yet either had no problem with what the Black Panthers did or simply looked the other way. Their skin color is irrelevant to anyone not racially obsessed.

It is more a sad attempt to shame people into voting a certain day

What this immediately reminded me of is the attempts by some here, including yourself, to demonize independent voters as "responsible for Bush" or "helping Trump".

You have engaged in this same tactic many times, Danni, going back to 2000. What makes the mailer very slightly worse is that it was sent to peoples' homes, which is more personal than trying to shame people on the internet.

Or the one on the right?

Or both of them?

Bob and Danni at 14, 16, & 18: Offering up a unsupported barrage of name calling is not "noteworthy" except as insincere and fallacious argumentation. One cannot have in fact a conversation at all if one does not bother to reference what the other person has said.
