The Obama administration is contemplating an unprecedented cyber covert action against Russia in retaliation for alleged Russian interference in the American presidential election, U.S. intelligence officials told NBC News.

Current and former officials with direct knowledge of the situation say the CIA has been asked to deliver options to the White House for a wide-ranging "clandestine" cyber operation designed to harass and "embarrass" the Kremlin leadership.

The sources did not elaborate on the exact measures the CIA was considering, but said the agency had already begun opening cyber doors, selecting targets and making other preparations for an operation. Former intelligence officers told NBC News that the agency had gathered reams of documents that could expose unsavory tactics by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

I've also got documents acquired on the net that prove Hillary is a lizard.

Will I show them to you? Hell no! They're Top Secret.

I laughed out loud when I first saw this reporting because it's so obviously an attempt by the US to get Putin and the Russian government to do "something" as a response to their threat. The US has something in place that needs the Russians to make some type of security-tightening in order to work. As much as they are successfully dividing and inflaming the American electorate by destroying trust and confidence in BOTH parties and the entire electoral process through the useful dunce Trump, I'm equally sure there is a method to the madness inside the US cointell community.

Should be interesting to watch.

In the NBC news article I read about this "strategic strike," the author described the plan as both "covert" and "clandestine." Assuming that the journalist knows the definition of "covert," then there must be some strategic rationale for the limited leak of this information..

Retired Admiral James Stavridis told NBC News' Cynthia McFadden that the U.S. should attack Russia's ability to censor its internal internet traffic and expose the financial dealings of Putin and his associates.

Sounds great. Expose his --------. This is how we should treat all pols, abroad and at home. Hack the ---- out of them and expose every wrongdoing.

Not according to many who post here and that believe the CIA is responsible for nearly every crisis around the world.

I'm surprised anyone remembers how to program a TRS80, let alone hack them. Or is the CIA just gonna glue the beads on Russia's abacuses together?

Telegraph punches much? This coming from an administration which draws crossable lines in the sand, announces troop withdrawal timetables, etc. No wonder the US no longer commands respect around the world.

All just words again, all blow no action and there won't be because they don't know who hacked them.
