Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

The blame game has already begun. Here's where Democrats will point the finger if she loses.

On the high, crenelated ramparts of Castle Clinton, a chill breeze is stirring ― a faint but gnawing sense that the White Walkers are coming, wearing "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN" baseball caps on their skinless noggins.

If Donald Trump does sack the fortress, no one who lost the battle will want to admit it was Hillary Clinton's fault. It will have had nothing to do with, say, "transparency" or calling bearded villagers "deplorables" or the Iraq War vote or the simple fact that middle-of-the-road Clintonism ran out of gas as a public philosophy.

Not so sure about this. If she loses to Trump, will there be any reasonable expectation left that she will be in a postion of great power in the future? Will loyal hacks have any reason left to root her on?

I don't think so. There will be a few loyal sycophants hoping that Hillary will toss some scraps their way. But the number of people willing to sacrifice themselves on her behalf because they can expect someething in return will be greatly lowered. And the people who just root for the letter after her name will have no reason left to make excuses for her.

That said, I don't see any way she loses. I believe that she will win the election legitimately or as legitimately as one can win after having been nominated through a fixed process. But I also believe that she will win even if the votes are cast in such a way that someone else would have more electoral votes.

She will be our next president unless her "pneumonia" makes it phsyically impossible.

Sully,

I've thought that ever since Trump sealed the GOP nomination and initially that looked to be the case.

But Hillary is so bad and is getting worse. Trump on the other hand, has toned it down a bit and has made significant gains in the polls. I still think Hillary has a much better chance at winning but I no longer see it as a foregone conclusion.

Bruce,

I think he was suggesting that, should Trump actually have the votes for a narrow electoral college win, the contest will be rigged to ensure she still actually wins.

From their lips to God's ears.

Hillary has already lost, even if she wins the election. She will accomplish nothing except whatever benefits the rich, MIC, Wall Street globalists.

It's not over till it's over, and Trump can definitely win. He'll be looking for a gotcha moment in the debates. Or maybe a bunch of them. Clinton will not be getting the voter turnout that Obama did, and a number of voters who do turn out will be voting 3rd party this year.

Most people looking to blame someone if Trump wins won't be doing it to defend Clinton. People who called out Nader voters in 2000 didn't do it to defend Gore. They did it because Bush was such a disastrous choice. Like Gore, Clinton will disappear from the political scene if she loses.

If Trump wins, Hillary's political career is finished, no need for 'thank you Captain obvious". Also no need to play any blame game. The American people will have showed the world what they truly are.

And it ain't pretty.

"Rigged" is such a nasty word. If the contest is still in question and there are states where literally every vote has to be counted, the guidlines for counting those votes will be very carefully crafted.
