Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

After Defense Secretary Robert Gates wrote an op-ed criticizing Donald Trump, the thin-skinned presidential candidate lashed out at a former Cabinet member widely respected by both Democrats and Republicans. "We had a clown today, an absolute clown, Robert Gates. He's supposed to be an expert. He's been there forever ... and he goes out and he says negative things about me. I never met him. I never talked to him. Believe me, I am so much better at what he's doing than he is," Trump said. He also tweeted, "Never met but never liked dopey Robert Gates."

In the op-ed Gates points to Trump's "record of insults to servicemen, their families and the military." In the past the candidate has demeaned John McCain's status as a war hero saying, "I like people who weren't captured." Following the Democratic National Convention, he slighted a Gold Star family by making incorrect assumptions about their religion.

He has also claimed to "know more about ISIS than the generals do," and he has advocated fighting the terror organization by targeting their families.

While Gates says that Clinton still has time to develop her policies and establish trustworthiness, he believes that Trump is "beyond repair."

Gates is not only a clown, but a neocon scumbag as well.

His endorsement of Clinton should come any day now.

Wait, did Robert Gates do something right?

Did he challenge the forces of darkness and unreason with enlightened arguments?

I know. It was his sense of self-sacrifice that guided him.

If Gates is a clown then he successfully lured Con Man Donnie into the woods on this one.

Say whatever you want about Robert Gates, disagree with him on many things, but he is not a clown. He was brought into the Bush administration to try and clean up the mess in Iraq that Cheney and Rummy had created.

Trump is an idiot.

Gates is much like an absolute monarchs chief advisor.

He may never have been head of state but he got where he is through hard work and can likely have people disappeared.

"He's supposed to be an expert. He's been there forever ... and he goes out and he says negative things about me."

What a buffoon.

Anyone who publicly says negative things about Trump will get this treatment. And think what this would look like and the repercussions of this kind of immature thin-skinned behavior should this man ever become our (gag) President.

So a major obama appointee can attack Trump through the media and it is okay, but when Trump strikes back it is terrible? Lib's like to dish it out but hate when someone actually responds in manner, typical and very laughable.

Libs, they just makes one shake their head in disgust.

The majority of the nation wants to give the establishment pols etc responsible for putting our nation into decline the golden middle finger, by means of electing Trump. The more the media and the establishment cry about it the more determined the people are to correct it.

I think there is some truth to that.

The difference is that Gates is a respected professional

#16 | POSTED BY TWINPAC AT 2016-09-20 05:11 AM | FLAG:

Really? Because when he was nominated to run the CIA, testimony against him pointed out that he the deputy director during one of the most corrupt, politically slanted parts of CIA history, part of a leadership that routinely produced false intelligence that was uncoupled from reality. He also knew about Iran-Contra and was buddies with the people behind, and knew about, the Iran-Contra scandal.

Democrats used to hammer this guy, right up until Obama nominated him lol.

"Democrats used to hammer this guy, right up until Obama nominated him lol."

I never liked the guy but I also recognized his intelligence and ability to clean up the messes of the Bush family. He's the "Cleaner," for the Bush crime family. George W. Bush wasn't who appointed him Sec. of Devense, Daddy Bush did because Junior royally f****d up the ME.

Gates insulted Trump first.

The difference is Gate's insult was the truth ~ and Trump's return insult wasn't.

Gates has been whore and (as stated above), a cleaner for a very long time. People like him may have started out as public servants. But somewhere along they became beholden to the power and position. And the only way they could keep that power was to serve political, not public, interests. He's a careerist.

WHAT a re write of history!!! Gates was BLASTED here, repeatedly by the dr left. Over, and over, and over. NOTHING he did under GW was 'praised' or 'supported' or discussed. He was dissed to the Nth degree! And when he came out with Duty he was blasted again with his harsh review od Obama's policies. Does it bother you to lie to yourselves?? You can breath a sigh of relief the search function has been disabled!!!
