The largest arm of the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation will spin off into an independent organization if Hillary Clinton is elected president, the charity said Wednesday in the latest effort by the foundation and the campaign to alleviate concerns about potential conflicts of interest. If Clinton wins in November, former President Bill Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, Bruce Lindsey, Ira C. Magaziner and Maggie Williams will all step down from the board of the charity, the Clinton Health Access Initiative, or CHAI, which was established in 2002 to improve access to AIDS drugs around the world

Magaziner, who is a longtime friend and adviser to the Clintons, will be replaced as chief executive once a succession plan is established, the charity said.

Under the arrangement, the initiative would be known solely as CHAI. The Clinton name would no longer be used, and the Clinton Foundation would no longer have the power to appoint members to its board.

Last month, Bill Clinton announced that the foundation would no longer accept foreign or corporate money and that he would resign from its board should Hillary Clinton win the presidency.

EVERYONE Of you who's buying this went into the shakes over someone talking about Cheney keeping out of Haliburton....

Thanks for bringing that up Babbles!

The Clinton's received NO funding or salary from the Clinton Foundation.

On the other hand Halliburton gave Cheney a sweet payout of a 34 million dollar "severance" package.

Cheney also received $2 million in bonuses and deferred compensation from his former company AFTER taking office.

Mr. Cheney's financial disclosure statements from 2001, 2002 and 2003 show that since becoming vice president-elect, he has received $1,997,525 from the company: $1,451,398 in a bonus deferred from 1999, the rest in deferred salary. He also held options to buy Halliburton stock. That stock rose 3000 percent.

Cheney's Halliburton Made $39.5 Billion on the Iraq War.

So yeah. I can see how those two things (Cheney/Halliburton and the Hillary/Clinton Foundation) are equivalent in your mind.

LOL, this is merely a smokescreen, and the real title of the article is "Clinton Foundation Initiative to become Independent if Hillary Wins" but nice try Corky in deflecting even the title.

As I have pointed out previously, CHAI has been operating as an independent charitable organization for at least 5 years now, with its own Form 990 filings, its own fundraising and a separate board, CEO and management team. The Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation hasn't been involved in the AIDS mission of CHAI since 2010, when they started focusing almost solely on the CGI.

The Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation will continue as usual, which is the problem, not CHAI.

The Clinton's received NO funding or salary from the Clinton Foundation. #4 Donner

Not exactly true...

Difference without a distinction--Bill received millions of dollars for phony speeches and then the CGI received hundreds of millions from the same circle of entities.

Then Hillary gave them access and God knows what else--Uranium, cell phone deals for buddies (Denis O'Brien).

Well, the Clintons don't have to worry about any of this as Hillary is getting smoked in the polls like a Norwegian salmon. From her health history, they need to worry more about succession in the event of untimely death as Hillary truly does look ready for one of Obama's famous "shovel-ready jobs".

Clinton Foundation to Become Independent if Hillary Wins

Sure. It'll be "Independent" the way her SuperPACs are "independent" and the way the DNC was "neutral" in the primaries.

Technically and legally, but not in function or spirit.

So, is the Trump campaign going to follow their lead. Sell The Trump Organization (maybe change the name to TTO) and have all family members resign from any positions within the company?

It seems that The Trump Organization is a much larger conflict of interest than the Clinton Foundation. And, MUCH less transparent in what money is coming from Foreign investors and sources and where that money goes to.

Which is an admission that there were serious conflicts of interests in play when Hillary was Secretary of State and laundering billions through the Clinton Foundation.

What do you see as the conflict of interest? Seeing as there is absolutely ZERO proof that the Clintons profited off of the Clinton Foundation? Is it that since she had shown she cares about eradicating AIDS (demonstrated by the fact it was a goal of their foundation) that she might have given special access to people who donate their money towards that goal as well? Are the only people we should allow in our government people who have no empathy at all towards the rest of humanity so they don't have a potential "conflict of interest"?

Maybe that's why people are voting for Trump... they think it is actually a positive that he thinks only of himself.

To help you out, I will give you an example of people who profit off their charity (and donations to it from other people). The Trump Foundation used donations to a charity (which was solicited from someone else, did not come from Trump) as leverage to get that charity to hold a fundraiser at one of Trump's properties, and of course the charity had to pay the exorbitant fees to the Trump Organization that it charges for the use of its properties. Can you give me a similar example for the Clintons where their charity led directly to money in their pockets?

Btw... the Clintons have personally given over $5 million to the Clinton Foundation, so you should probably try to prove benefits to them exceeded that amount.

I eagerly await your reply and maybe, if I'm lucky, it might contain some actual facts to support your conclusions.

#15 After Hillary loses, this money laundering operation will shrivel up, since the Clintons won't have any influence to sell.

...as opposed to Orangeman, who will do nothing differently with his money laundering organization.

There are multiple correlations between arms sales and large donations to the Clinton Foundation from both defense contractors and recipient nations while Hillary was Secretary of State.

It is common practice for the superrich to form "non-profits" as tax shelters in which they control how the money is used and passed on to future generations. Sidney wasn't doing any charity work with the money the foundation pays him.

Bill now promises to restructure the foundation if Hillary is elected. Why?

#18 | Posted by nutcase at 2016-09-17 01:40 PM | Reply

So, you can't tell me how the Clintons are benefitting financially from the Clinton Foundation, but you don't like them so you just assume that they must be.

Bill is promising to restructure the foundation to extract all family influence NOT because they are doing anything wrong but because SOME PEOPLE aren't smart enough to realize they are being used as tools by the Republicans by basing their opinion of the Clintons not on facts but instead on the smear and innuendo that the Republican propaganda arm has been feeding them.
