Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

President Barack Obama has authorized sending 350 more military personnel to Iraq protect U.S. facilities and personnel in Baghdad, the White House said Tuesday night. The moves comes at the recommendation of the Defense Department, but the additional personnel will not be serving in a combat role, the White House said in a statement. "The request he approved today will allow some previously deployed military personnel to depart Iraq, while at the same time providing a more robust, sustainable security force for our personnel and facilities in Baghdad," the White House said.

Do we have a SOFA in place?

Do they have immunity? They are just taking Iraq's word they won't prosecute.

Rambo: Hate? I'd die for it.
Trautman: Then what is it you want?
Rambo: I want, what they want, and every other guy who came over here and spilled his guts and gave everything he had, wants! For our country to love us as much as we love it! That's what I want!
Trautman: How will you live, John?

It's hilarious when Obama supporters like Danni won't admit that we have boots on the ground. The news has already reported 2 or 3 deployments of 800 "advisors". That puts us at about 2500 not counting the 350 just now sent. There are reports from refugees that American looking men w/ no uniforms on are on the ground fighting ISIS. They were on the ground when we got the Yzidis off that mountain. Danni, who do you think is on the ground guiding in those bombs we are dropping?

Of course not, Larry. If we just leave them alone they'll leave us alone. They didn't really mean all that stuff about flags in the White House and "seeing us in New York" all. Besides, they're just a JV team. The REAL threat are the cops in the U.S.

Danni is pretty much the epitome of the partisan problem this country faces. When bush did these things they were horrible. Now under Obama they are sop. As long as it is 'your' team doing them ANY atrocity is acceptable, but when someone else does far less(cuts one persons head off), it is time to send in the marines.

Boaz, while just as disgusting, is far more honest in his utter hatred of anything not white, male. and christian.

Can we agree that ISIS is evil? Because if certain people are not willing to acknowledge that, and then try to explain away or justify their behavior, discussion is pointless.

I say that because I do NOT support sending troops to Iraq to fight ISIS. But if I am to honestly talk about what we should or should not do that begins with honestly acknowledging that ISIS is an evil, barbaric faction.

All too often when we discuss these events we conflate the issues. And so people talk over and past one another instead of engaging. Here the issues are separate and should be addressed separately. Namely...
1. Is ISIS an evil that we should oppose?;

and,

2. If yes, how should we (the USA) be opposing them?

If you can't agree as to #1, there is no point moving on to #2.

Yes this is exactly what the Romans used to say about the people they were murdering and crucifying.

Fascist imperialism is not defensible on any grounds other than those of organized banditry. i.e. I take what I want because I can.

The American empire is directly responsible for creating ISIS, in the same manner that the British empire was directly responsible for creating the American revolution. i.e. it called people taking up arms against it the equivalent of 'terrorists' too.

There is no ambiguity. If it was evil for Germany to invade Poland, then it is evil for the USSA to invade Iraq. Cut and dried.

The US has re-invaded Iraq!

The actual invasion has been a two-month-long stealth process, beginning in mid-July, when President and Commander in Chief Barack Obama ordered some 800 US troops sent to that country in response to the growing battlefield success of fighters with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), a group initially trained and funded covertly by the US, which intended for ISIS to topple Syria's leader Bashar al Assad, only to have the group decide it wanted to attack Iraq and behead US journalists instead.

This force of 800, which at the time was said to be "assessing and advising" Iraqi forces as the Iraqi military battled ISIS, was then enlarged by the addition of another 130 "advisors" who were sent to northern Iraq a month later on August 13, and finally by another influx of 20 Marines flown in to Mt. Sinigar and finally by 350 troops flown in yesterday under cover of darkness, allegedly to "protect" the US Embassy compound in Baghdad.

That brings the total of US troops known to have invaded Iraq this summer to 1300, which slightly more than the 1000 troops that the US claims Russia has secretly slipped over the border into Ukraine to invade that embattled country of 54 million.

"I know some in Washington would like us to start leaving Iraq now. To begin withdrawing before our commanders tell us we are ready would be dangerous for Iraq, for the region, and for the United States. It would mean surrendering the future of Iraq to al Qaeda. It would mean that we'd be risking mass killings on a horrific scale. It would mean we'd allow the terrorists to establish a safe haven in Iraq to replace the one they lost in Afghanistan. It would mean increasing the probability that American troops would have to return at some later date to confront an enemy that is even more dangerous."

We went into Iraq as a result of a mistaken belief (and EVERYBODY believed it...even Hillary) that Saddam had WMD and had used it in the past. So, it was for his actions and a proclivity to do it again. We didn't actually go into Libya so you'll have to confer with Obama on that one but we WERE flying missions in consort with the French and others. We went into Afhanistan because that was where Al Quaeda and bin Laden were after they had killed some 3000 Americans...more than died at Pearl Harbor, it wasn't because of what they "believed." We went into Vietnam because we had a treaty with SEATO and the South had been invaded and was being undermined by the North. So, it was once again for the actions of the communists, not what they believed. Same with Korea...The communists swarmed across the border and took most of the South before we committed, so it was because of what they DID, not because of what they believed.

ISIS is killing ANYONE who won't accept what they BELIEVE regardless of the fact they've done nothing to harm ISIS. Big difference, Kanrei, and I won't even get into the methods they employ. ResuLt: They are evil to the core and beyond any redemption.
