Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, September 01, 2014

Nascar driver Tony Stewart returned to racing Sunday after a three-week hiatus that followed the accident in which Stewart struck and killed fellow sprint car driver Kevin Ward Jr. after the 20-year-old racer got out of his crashed vehicle and yelled at Stewart. "This has been one of the toughest tragedies I've ever had to deal with, both professionally and personally. This will affect my life forever," Stewart said Friday. Ward's father Kevin Ward Sr. criticized Stewart for his role in his son's death in an interview with the Syracuse Post-Standard. "Apparently, Tony Stewart was the only one driving out there who didn't see him," Ward Sr. said. "The one person that knows what happened that night is possibly facing 10 years in prison. Is he going to say what he done?"

The only unknown to me is why that damn fool didn't get hit by all three cars sliding around that bend on loose dirt.

Ward made a bad decision ~ temper tantrum or grandstanding, nobody knows but a bad decision nonetheless.

Make Stewart drive with his lights on, and make the other guys stay in their cars...

What could possibly go wrong with walking down a steep dirt curve towards cars going at freeway speed on a poorly lit track while wearing a black driving suit?

All that is missing from this is Ward radioing to his crew chief, "someone hold my beer a minute".
