John Walker, a former U.S. Navy officer convicted of spying decades ago for the Soviet Union, has died in federal prison, according to the U.S. government. Walker, 77, passed away Thursday at a federal correctional facility in Butner, North Carolina, the Federal Bureau of Prisons said. The agency's website indicated Walker was scheduled to be released on parole within the year.

Why do we punish entrepreneurs?

Dante's ninth circle of hell, the lowest & most bitter of environs, is reserved for traitors.

One down one to go. hope the same fate for Jonathan Pollard before his upcoming release. People that betray trust given to them deserve no mercy.

Well he should have been shot to start with.

The headline is wrong. John Walker was not a spy. He was a traitor. There is a big didfference between gathering intel for your own country and selling it out for cash. I agree with Sames1. Walker should have been shot a long time ago.

How is he not a spy when he took money to spy for the Soviets? A person can be a spy and a traitor at the same time.

It was all us nasty conservatives who wanted him hung by the neck until dead.
Plenty of lefties saw no wrong in anything the USSR did.

Speaking as an actual Cold Warrior, I hope that ---- rots in hell. He should of been hung within days of the conviction.

Walker enlisted in the Navy in 1955; when arrested for burglary, he was offered the option of jail or the military. And the eventual outcome was

During the Cold War when Walker was spying on us? You're rewriting history. The lefties who liked Russia were in the 1930s and before, when there could still be some illusions about what they were doing in the name of Communism.

Walker should be remembered as a man who sold out his country to a very evil and ambitious power that is now coming back into view. The Soviets were not the good guys. We were better, but honestly, it did not require much of an effort on our part to be more humane or virtuous. We got that by default, the Soviet Union did murder about 40,000,000 of it's own people before the first shot was fired in WWII. Every leader of the Soviet Union has bloody hands, until the last, Gorbachev. They all had killed Russians by the thousands, some by order, some personally. You guys should listen to what the Russians are saying. From their party line, have no doubt the Russians are going to invade Ukraine, This is not going to be the last incursion, It is only the first.

i agree that Walker was a traitor & not a spy. A secret agent works for his country, as a spy. Then there are double agents who pose as a spy but are helping the enemy (does not describe Walker). Then there are triple agents that pose as a spy helping the enemy, but are in fact spying for their country. i knew the world was messed up beyond hope as a kid when i learned all that mess.

Imagine my shock to learn ALL our intelligence & politicians are working for the New World Order, for profit and/or glory, and are ALL damn traitors! Working for Luciferians that sacrifice children routinely.

What about the others that the media outrageously keeps hushed up because they are Israelis? Let's expect total transparency instead of bias.
