Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Friday, August 22, 2014

Washington Post Editorial Board: This page has for many years urged the local football team to change its name. The term "Redskins," we wrote in 1992, "is really pretty offensive." The team owner then, Jack Kent Cooke, disagreed, and the owner now, Daniel M. Snyder, disagrees, too. But the matter seems clearer to us now than ever, and while we wait for the National Football League to catch up with thoughtful opinion and common decency, we have decided that, except when it is essential for clarity or effect, we will no longer use the slur ourselves. That's the standard we apply to all offensive vocabulary, and the team name unquestionably offends not only many Native Americans but many other Americans, too.

The solution to this controversy is simple. I've even e-mailed it to the team's owners but it seems like they've ignored it.

All they need to do is change the name and mascot of the team from the Redskins to the RedsKins (as in Erik the Red).

Remember the Washington Bullets?

Anyway, they should keep the name Redskins but change the logo to a potato.

King County, WA, is named for historical footnote of our 14th President Franklin Pierce's historical footnote of a Vice President William King. When I lived there replaced their rather innocuous logo depicting a crown with a picture of Martin Luther King. It was among the most pointless acts of feel-good liberal BS I've ever seen. www.kingcounty.gov

I don't disagree, but branding is a huge part of how we interact with the world.

King County riding the coattails of a much more famous guy named King is a clever move.

David St. Hubbins: It's such a fine line between stupid, and uh...
Nigel Tufnel: Clever.
David St. Hubbins: Yeah, and clever.

That was a completely nonsensical response.

Media power comes via the use of censorship and criticism that they alone define and then turn the screws. The masses are not clamoring for media designated political correctness......only media mouthpieces. The concept of PC was created by and for the media so they could change public opinion and dialogue on various issues of their own choosing mostly as wedge issues.

On the sports page, the top photo is captioned "Griffin struggles as Redskins succumb"
