Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, August 21, 2014

The conservative blogger Jim Hoft has been caught faking a CT scan to make it appear as if it belonged to Darren Wilson, the Ferguson, Missouri, cop who shot Michael Brown to death after claiming the unarmed teen charged him. The CT scan Hoft published in a blog post claiming Wilson's eye socket was fractured originally had the text "Univ. of Iowa" -- indicating it was not of Wilson at all -- but it was removed and republished. Charles Johnson of LGF writes, "Jim Hoft is busted. Exposed as a fraudster. He should apologize and retract this post, but I know he won't -- because that's not how the Dumbest (and Most Dishonest) Man on the Internet rolls."

A source told CNN that Hoft's claim Wilson had a bruised or fractured eye socket are false. Wilson was shown on a Ferguson resident's video walking around after Brown was shot with no apparent injuries.

What a -------. Of course he is a rightwinger. Leave it to a family-values conservative to pour gasoine on a fire already out of control.

I said I was skeptical of this story from the start. If this guy had a broken eye socket there is no way the police wouldn't have released a photo from the start.

Hell it would have been blown up easel size and they would be handing them out to every news outlet from there to Timbuktu and back. Let's face it Darren Wilson lost his temper and gunned down an unarmed black man for no reason and now FPD is doing what they can to cover it up.

Witnesses have already said there was a scuffle at the car of some sort. I'm not claiming the kid deserved to die over it but, we all know you don't get to scuffle with the po po. There is more to this story than what we've heard and people like Sharpton and Jackson along with how piss poor the police managed the situation. I'm reserving judgement at this point but, when you lie and claim that Brown was a gentle giant when 15 minutes before he seems to have committed a strong arm robbery. The people claiming it was shoplifting are lying too.

LGF had it first, as far as I know.

... 15 minutes before he seems to have committed a strong arm robbery.

Or he was arguing with the clerk for some other reason, such as being carded. Video shows him paying for his cigars.

So that's why the guy went to the door as he left... b/c Brown forgot his change? I've not seen any evidence that he paid for them. Tell me why would Johnson's attorney admit on tv that they took the cigars? Then there is the fact that the clerk called 9-11 to report the robbery.

#10 | Posted by rcade at 2014-08-22 09:41 AM | Reply | Flag:

Assuming he paid for the cigars, which is questionable because there is no way to tell from the video that he paid the correct amount....

The video still shows him roughing up a man half his size. He wasn't a "gentle giant". Most men who aren't described as "gentle" would never do anything like that.

Not saying that proves anything as far as the shooting incident goes. But people need to stop with the gentle giant stuff. Its only going to undermine credibility.

Wonkette's has had a feud with that idiot and named him the "Dumbest (and Most Dishonest) Man on the Internet" over a bet he welshed on.

I've not seen any evidence that he paid for them.

Video shows him at the counter making a purchase.

But all of this is irrelevant. He was stopped for jaywalking. Ferguson police said Darren Wilson didn't stop him for suspicion of robbery.

Rcade, why would Johnson's attorney admit on tv that they "took" the cigars? Johnson admitted it to the FBI.

#15 | Posted by rcade at 2014-08-22 10:00 AM | Reply | Flag:

Could or couldn't be? I don't know. I know they were stopped initially for jaywalking but, the robbery could have impacted Brown's behavior thinking the robbery had been called in? It could be the officer heard the report of the robbery in the area and put two and two together which caused the scuffle. We just don't know. All I'm saying is the media flamed this by calling him a gentle giant and what a great kid he was etc... Again, I'm not claiming the kid deserved to be killed for a robbery but, it's part of the story.

Given the video that shows Brown making a purchase, I'm going to wait until there's an actual first-hand report from Johnson or the FBI about what happened in the store to draw any conclusions. There's a lot of bad second-hand information being reported.

#18 | Posted by rcade at 2014-08-22 10:29 AM | Reply | Flag:

#18 Fair enough. I just can't imagine Johnson's attorney confirming that he told the FBI that they took the cigars if they indeed paid for them.

It is crap like this that makes people question the credibility of all right wing media.

This dork is not doing you guys any favors.

He was stopped for jaywalking.

Well that is the official story.

Anyone think rightwing hacks such as Foshaffer will have the decency to acknowledge on this thread that his aggressive proclamations on other threads about the officers broken orbital lobe were garbage? I think not. Partisan hacks, be they leftwing or rightwing, almost never have the grace or class to acknowledge their own hackery when exposed.

Because the documents were fakes the right gets to pretend they don't actually know that the faked documents told the truth about Dubya. Those of us who recognized the truth about him then don't have to keep up the false pretense.

Me neither, but some of the attorneys who attach themselves to controversies like this are not the sharpest knives in the drawer.

I can't even figure out what witnesses said they saw and how many witnesses there are in the Brown incident. I hope some kind of inquiry gets all of them under oath and subjects them to tough questioning so we can find out with some reliability what happened.

You're kidding, right? You're better than that, RCade.

The video shows Brown standing at the counter with his open hands behind his back. No money is in his hands.

From there he leans in on his elbows across the counter. He is handed a pack of cigars that he gives to Dorian Johnson.

At the 1:00 mark, Brown leans in further and yanks out a whole display box of cigar packages, spilling some packages onto the floor, and steps back defiantly. He puts the display box on the counter, and Johnson puts the package he had been handed back on the counter.

Brown bends over, scoops up a handful of cigar packages as the clerk comes racing around the counter to get between Brown and the door.

Brown bends down for one more pack and heads for the door where the clerk confronts him and Brown strong arms the clerk.

Yeah, yeah. Arguing about getting carded. I can almost hear the clerk:

"Please accept my sincerest apologies for carding you in our tobacco transaction, sir. Really, sir. I cannot allow you to leave with hurt feelings. I deeply regret implying that you are not 18 or over. Please, sir, please -- do not leave without your change! You have been much too generous! I'll make sure to explain this to the customer who called the police. I implore you --- do not tell anyone in the community that I carded you!"

Now that is small town service!

What I see in the second store video is Brown appearing to complete a purchase. No one who worked for the store called police to report a theft.

#34 | POSTED BY RCADE

Right. It was a customer in the store. The police got called and responded.

Eyewitnesses to the Brown shooting, starting at the scene on Canfield, discussed allegations that Brown and Johnson had been involved in a robbery.

Unfortunately for Quick Trip the wrong store got identified in the discussions at the scene. Who got the store wrong I don't know, but it was talked about at the scene.

The Ferguson Market owner and clerk were right to be very fearful about being fingered in this. The Quick Trip got looted and burned on Sunday night after the Saturday shooting and the Ferguson folks had every reason to want to lay low. Their store got looted the night the video and police report were released.

There are obviously very ugly elements in Ferguson. Who would want to step forward with evidence to confront these elements? Unfortunately, it seems just the police.
