Robin Williams was sober but was struggling with depression, anxiety and the early stages of Parkinson's disease when he died, his widow said Thursday. The diagnosis of the progressive illness was "an additional fear and burden in his life," a person familiar with the 63-year-old Williams' family told CNN. His wife Susan Schneider issued a statement that said, "Robin's sobriety was intact and he was brave as he struggled with his own battles of depression, anxiety as well as early stages of Parkinson's disease, which he was not yet ready to share publicly."

Williams used exercise and cycling to manage his stress and depression, and the prospect that the illness would prevent him from doing that was extremely upsetting, the person familiar with his family said.

Fellow actor Michael J. Fox, who has Parkinson's and established the Michael J. Fox Foundation, said Thursday that he was unaware of his friend's condition. "Stunned to learn Robin had PD. Pretty sure his support for our Fdn predated his diagnosis. A true friend; I wish him peace," Fox tweeted.

Great, now uncle Rush can combine attacking a dead icon who suffered from depression with his left over Michael J. Fox Parkinson's attack schtick.

Wonder if he can throw in some '----' schtick and go for for the hater's trifecta.

The redacted word from my post was a reference to the attacks on Sandra Fluke and Rush's 3 day tirade characterizing Ms. Fluke as a woman of loose morals.

It was not a profanity.

Rush has changed his theme song to, "Shake, Rattle, and Roll!" for the day. He's the subtle type.

great...now maybe you can ignore the media matters manipulation and read a transcript of what rush REALLY said...but I know you wont....doesn't match your narrative....

more screams about rush from people who don't listen but believe others who don't listen and /or edit out everything but the 'good' parts.

but I did see a funny cartoon....DEM SCREAMS AT gop with sign about benghazi...."STOP BRINGING UP THE PAST"....while the dem is in a truck with loud speaker and signs of "W".,...

"It was not a profanity."

Well, now I'm just disappointed.

The wife and I watched the Robin Williams movie, 'The Worlds Greatest Dad'. Man, was that ever disturbing, in retrospect.

In the movie, Williams is an unsuccessful writer, who is a dad that has a teenage son. That son is one nasty little twerp. Everyone hates the kid and the kid hates everyone and everything. The kid likes to (I don't know what you call it) ---------- while chocking himself.

Eventually, the kid chocks himself to death while doing this. So Williams makes it look like the kid commited suicide by hanging himself and writes a suicide note, pretending it was from the kid and causes it to be published in the school newspaper.

All of the sudden, everyone is changed and thinking that the kid was just misunderstood and that there is something they can learn to enrich their own lives by the kids death.

Eventually, Williams makes up and publishes a 'journal' that the kid supposedly kept (the kid had no such journal), and it was a big hit, even leading to offers to have it published, a TV appearance, as well as offers to publish the dad's work (which were never published before).

All along the way, the kid becomes a posthumous martyr for all kinds of causes. They even wanted to name the school library after the kid.

The movie ends with Williams telling everyone that they had always hated the kid and that the kid hated them too. He went on to say that the kid was, in fact, 'a real douchebag', that he (the dad) wrote the suicide note and the journal.

This 'the truth shall set you free' moment freed him from the lies, the hatred, the historic revisionism and the public opinion.

The parallels to Williams death are undeniable.

The parallels to Williams death are undeniable.

about the only parallel I see is that a fictional character and a real life person died of asphyxia.

As for the rest, it appears that one did it as part of a sexual gratification gone wrong, the other appears to have done it due to depression about the course the rest of his life was taking. Granted I didn't know the man personally, but then I'm guessing you didn't either.

Unless of course, you have more than wild a##ed speculation based on a movie of all things.

Tell us more about Robin Williams suicide instead of the Nazis in Jerusalem killing kids in Palestine.

You think the controlled consolidated media hasn't figured how to divert attention from the focal point of what Jimmy Carter calls, their racist apartheid owners?
