Faced with the "biggest and most complex Ebola outbreak in history," the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention raised the activation level of its Emergency Operations Center to Level 1, the highest state of alert. It is the first time the agency has issued such an alert since the 2009 H1N1 influenza pandemic. Nearly all of the deaths have been in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea, where more than 1,700 cases have been reported, according to the World Health Organization. The agency said 108 new cases were reported between Saturday and Monday in those countries and Nigeria.

Hey JPW;
