Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Saturday, August 02, 2014

On Wednesday, House Republicans sued President Barack Obama for acting on his own without approval from Congress. On Thursday, House Republicans told Obama he should act on his own to fix the border crisis. The messaging whiplash resulted from Speaker John Boehner's failure to pass a Republican spending bill that would provide $659 million to help stem the child migrant crisis on the U.S.-Mexico border. In a statement following the decision to abruptly scrap a vote on the measure, Boehner and his fellow GOP leaders tried to put the onus back on Obama, saying the president had the power to act unilaterally, "without the need for congressional action," to respond to the crisis.

"There are numerous steps the president can and should be taking right now, without the need for congressional action, to secure our borders and ensure these children are returned swiftly and safely to their countries," Boehner said.

Yet that was a polar opposite message from the one Republicans delivered a day earlier, when they voted to authorize a lawsuit against Obama for "bypass[ing] the legislative process to create his own laws by executive fiat," according to an accompanying committee report.

Harry Reid floated the idea that he was going to merge the house bill with the senate's immigration reform bill which killed the house bill. So it's just more politics as usual and Harry Reid is one of the most dishonest pathetic people in our government.

"Harry Reid floated the idea that he was going to bla, bla"

See, its someone else fault republicans insist Obama act unilaterally not 24 hours after filing lawsuit claiming Obama acts unilaterally.

Just more tripe from the "personally responsible" jaggoffs

Boehner/GOP: "Well, you see, executive orders, used judiciously, are wonderful tools to act with speed that Congress cannot on matters of national interest and importance, things on which all Americans agree."

This is just the beginning of the fallout from Speaker of the House Ted Cruz yet again acting irresponsibly.

So basically they are saying he is free to act without them so long as he does what they want.

If he acts to deport them, he doesn't need Congress, but if he acts to help them, he is in violation and should be Impeached. Would be funny if not so sad.

FTA: "On Wednesday, House Republicans sued President Obama for acting on his own without approval from Congress. On Thursday, House Republicans told President Obama he should act on his own to fix the border crisis".

The GOP proves again and again that they are incapable of governing.

The House killed the House Bill. But in typical conservative fashion, you shouldn't let the truth interfere with your abstract version of reality.

WRONG a lingadingdong !!!....what they are telling him is that his SWORN duty is to protect the border and he has some executive power to do that AS THAT IS HIS prescribed main function...NOT TO give out amnesty to people he virtually invited here...what a shame that so many have just accepted the much larger power the executive branch has now in spite of constitutional requirements.

I understand the reactions as there are millions of low information voters who don't understand that and bravo to those here exploiting that....but it's not that hard to see what this uproar is all about.

proves nothing of the sort, just the opposite...do you have any idea why this vote came out the way it did...the PEOPLE SPOKE to their duly elected representatives in this representative republic when they flooded congress with phone calls just prior to the vote. I realize that radical leftists are more about rule by MAN rather than by rule by law...but this shows the system worked....and to put it in words we hear all the time about the white house

when it comes to the 'people's house'...WE WON !!!!!!

Obama has absolute Constitutional power to grant Amnesty

www.usconstitution.net

Even more ridiculous, on Thursday's Daily Show, they showed a House ------ claiming the lawsuit was not political and then pointed out the same women did nothing when Shrub took exactly the same executive action on his Medicare Drug Expansion Program. Rethugs are pathological liars (or delusional half wits). Their systemic targeting of Obama is treasonous. It is doing terrible damage to an economy that needs another Marshall Plan.

Obama is an Above Average president for just attempting wade through these mellon-heads and their antics. As someone pointed out, we have not seen their like since 1850.

1850. No real coincidence there. All you neo-Confederates and Copperheads out there sicken me. Nah. Nothing remotely racist or anti-patriotic about any of you.

"Their systematic targeting of Obama is treasonous".

Yes, it is. They are hateful people wholly out of touch with just how hateful they are.

What's the alternative? Put them in makeshift concentration camps surrounded by barbed wire? Or just deport any kid caught wandering near the border to a random Central American country without due process?

I loathe the idea of amnesty, but this criticism is just dumb.

The president doesn't have the right to go beyond the law. The president does have an obligation to secure the borders. They are not saying anything unreasonable. You can spin a lot of things to sound bad.

I guess they could just let them out on the street...there's probably enough homeless vets that could share their cardboard box with thanks to OBAMA"S veteran office.

It was wasted LOOOOOOONG before B. Hussein Obama was even a consideration for POTUS. You willing ignorance of this FACT exposes your despicable partisan hackery.

CARE TO TRY AGAIN?

Or remain solidified as a Bush War Monger Apologist.....

The choice is yours, which is more than what your willing to afford pregnant women.

so the idiots logic, bush wasted 2 trillion and is no longer in power, (not 4) in 2 wars so Obama can do what he wants? That doesn't make logical sense, but then liberals rarely do. What Bush did has nothing to do with the events of today. Try staying on topic and stop deflecting.

So now you're arguing they release illegal aliens on the streets? Jeez, get your damn story straight.

No doubt if anything happened to these kids or a legal citizen got picked up with them and was mistreated, the other party would be howling about it and blaming the one in control of the executive branch, no matter which one it was.
